The only thing my girlfriend will say, is: "Wow, don't you think that game ever gets boring?"
She knows I love it, she doesn't mind me playing it. I take what I like seriously and she takes me seriously. Done. Perhaps I should mention that she's an Age of Empires II addict herself. ;)

luckily, she's a god of war fiend. yay for gamer girlfriends.
She's tried to get into EB, but RTS's are not her forte.
I, on the other hand am completely addicted.

I need to find myself one of those girlfriends... My ex mentioned EB as a reason... The worse part I believe was all I could think was "who cares?"

I'm confused in what city can you recruit them and what are there unit stats???
BTW they sound very expensive i think my faction economy doesn't support them

My girl is cool. She knows I love this game. Thankfully she's mature enough to just let me do what I do. I'm a big geek, but she doesn't mind. :)

My girlfriend thinks it's funny I think. If I'm not talking regularly on the phone she says "Are you playing EB?". She said she want's to buy me a replica Roman helmet so I can wear it while I'm playing but when I enthuse about EB to her her standard line is "As much as I love you, I'm not in the slightest bit interested in EB."
Considering she's not a gamer (she used to play the sims but her PC is too weak to cope with it now), I think I'm pretty lucky to have her tolerance, if not her shared enthusiasm.

I've busted my sister playing it actually . I came in one day and there she was as the Sabaeans doing stuff. She didn't get wtf pwned either .
GF really doesn't care . We do "stuff" when she's over . Stuff as in anything including stuff that you people with your minds in the gutter think of .

My GF is understanding of my time spent on the computer. She'll join me for casual games, Text Twist and the like, but rarely plays by herself and never anything as complex as EB. At least she enjoys board games.

My girlfriend hates this game because usually when I'm up being my usual insomniac self, I end up just fooling around a bit in EB.
Girlfriend - "Turn that shit off for God's sake! It's enough that I have to spend time in bed alone..."
Me "paying attention" - "Yeah, yeah, yeah... What do you want, I'm busy..."
I wish I could say "I'm playing EB, cook dinner for me", but my girlfriend is so lousy at it I'd rather not tempt my own life.

My girlfriend is pretty tolerant of the game. I've been playing for 2-3 months constantly and now she just accepts it as the norm.
We also now have an ongoing joke about the game. One time she wanted me to get off the computer and hang out with her family (:wall:) to which I replied, in a playful whiney voice, "But honey, I need to conquer Europe." (Mind you when I said this she had no clue what EB was haha)
She never lets me live it down, I think all of her friends have heard the joke too...when I'm in a different room "You conquering Europe over there, Alex?" But I enjoy it since it gives me a gateway to verbally spew forth my love for EB and history.
So yeah, I just tell her I'm going to play EB and she understands that i have an Empire to forge...and maintain :whip:

My girlfriend cares but knows I enjoy it. She would much rather have me cuddling with her on the couch or taking her out to dinner, things I do but those should be done in moderation as not to wear out their novelty. We've been dating for over two and a half years so those things don't happen often.
Most of the time I just tell her I have to go conquer some part of Europe and she calls me a nerd. She tolerates it.

Well I am still living at home and my mom EXTREMELY annoyed not just at EB, but also to EB forums, Bodybuilding/weightlifting forums, and lately YouTube.
So in order for me to play EB I just take a nap in the early evening after dinner, and then wake up at 1:00am and play until 3:00am or 4:00am. Finaly get a glass of milk and my fishoil and go back to sleep. However I can only do this when I don't have to wake up early the next day. :wall:
BUT on a Saturdays I play until 7:00am after comming home from clubbing at 3:30am. :2thumbsup:

She doesn't ask questions and she doesn't get a history lesson, we both get something out of it, I just start any response with "well back in 236BC the Romans were..." and she gets the idea.

My girl is cool with it. She knows i'm a big fan of history; specifically the time period covered in EB and extending back to the heyday of Sparta and Athens. She understands i can't ever see, read, or play enough of anything having to do with this time period. She says i'm a dork and i need help......
Who knows....maybe she's right....
She'll see me playing EB and say "are you defending Greece from that 7ft Xerxes with all the earings and his Rhino Cavalry again?"...I'll cringe and say "no smart ass...i'm fighting Macedonians." which of course she'll reply "who?"

When Hell freezes over I'll get a girlfriend (I can only get one-nighters right now. Don't know why). When I get a girlfriend I'll post my alibi.

My parents don't really care, since they are two and a half hours away from my apartment and don't know what I do with my computer (and don't really care).
Usually I just played and gave yes or no answers to questions.

She mostly doesn't mind...except when the "Professor v8.1a" pops up, then she tries to "disable advisor".
nah she's actually pretty cool, she communicates with me using the unit stat system when she has something she wants me to do...ie morale bonuses etc
