Re: How do I make consuls?
You can't, he needs all the precursor office and a minimum age of 42.
Re: How do I make consuls?
what are those precursor office?? it's it Praetor, Censor?? which one??
Re: How do I make consuls?
I had the same problem. I only had one or two consuls before all the other requirements for the reforms were accomplished, and the ones that were consul were not elegible for the 'Marius wannabe'.
I checked the traits file and saw that consuls also need 1 or more command stars. I deleted that line (since 2 out of 50 family members have a command star) and got more consuls since. (I once even had 3 consuls in the same season)
Re: How do I make consuls?
You shouldn't have too many problems with getting command stars if you fight a few battles with an intelligent/charismatic character. In any case you've broken the code because you should never have more than two in a year.
The precursors are Questor, Adiele/Plebeian Tribune (either one), and Praetor.
Really guys, you could use some inititive and google the Roman political system.
Re: How do I make consuls?
So where does Military Tribune go? Is it optional? I know that it was useful to have some military experience to move up.
Oh, and ZVdP, how did you get three Consuls in a year? Isn't it limited to two?
Re: How do I make consuls?
Thanks for the info. I already knew about the precursors but I was just wondering how to get a character to the level of consul pretty quickly (i.e. soon after he's 42). Should I just leave him in a city with an Academy and then when he's a praetor maybe start using him in campaigns?
I would quite like a few consuls in my family even if they're not going to be my Marius because it's fun to roleplay consuls and proconsuls :2thumbsup:

Yeah, then we could get rid of the forums and the community altogether. Come on guys, use your initiative!
Re: How do I make consuls?
Send your boys out young, let them get blooded and hopefully pick up a few stars. With the best characters a mixture of warfighting and administration is good throughout their carears.
Re: How do I make consuls?
Once a intelligent.charismatic, vigoorous character comes of age, have him in rome, give him good trait through the accademy, and and retuine, thenonce he's tribune, send him to war, for the command, then back to rome, the higher the innfluence the better, so keep building stuff (temples give good influence), at the momeny I have 3-4 10 influence characters, each becomming consul at around there 45 birthday.
Also triumphs help alot, I changed the imperator trait to make this easier.
Re: How do I make consuls?
triumphs? Ok... I guess I'm missing out on something here. Can someone explain triumphs to me?
