Is LTC an unofficial and unadvertised patch for M2TW
I was wondering before and wanted to ask but reading the post on how Sega has to greenlight changes I am more convinced. I believe its the unofficial patch because I notice some things that only CA can add onto like I notice better speaches even playing as England and the diplomacy is so much better. They even seemed to fix the reputation (Which only I feel was broken) and other little things that I think were hardcoded.
Does anyone else think this way. Even if the developer puts his own name instead of the CA title, he could still work/subcontract for CA and because of the way Sega has been acting, I wouldn't be surprised if CA would keep their name off of it.
I also say this because people play what they enjoy and it seems like everyone just plays this mod, I tried the Custom Campaign mod and it seems that nobody was even interested because they were playing LTC.

Interesting idea. I tried LTC and was able to play almost twice as many turns before giving up so I think it was a pretty good try.
Here's the point that so many here dont seem to comprehend, SEGA owns CA. They bought it. Everyone who works for CA works for SEGA.

Short answer: No
Long Answer: Yes I believe a lot of mods are better then Vanilla. Try them out and enjoy them. Don't expect CA to comment on them though (apart from the good old "yeh we like playing a couple of mods" without stating an names). If your wondering about when a dev has ever accepted an unofficial patch check this out. The devs praised this unofficial patch of AOW:SM... however a large mod like LTC I doubt will be regarded as so... especially when the situation is quite rare.

With Lusted and Jason's work on it, it's closer than most to the 'unofficial' vision of what M2TW should be, yes.
Re: Is LTC an unofficial and unadvertised patch for M2TW
LTC is a pretty good mod. I play it when ever I play M2TW.
Re: Is LTC an unofficial and unadvertised patch for M2TW
The mod contains a few good changes. I personally like the projectile changes however to suggest it as an unofficial patch is stretching it a bit far. Even though it contains some fixes most changes are infact preferential and won't suit all players!

I am missing the "GAH" option in the poll.:wall:

I work for CA, CA are owned by SEGA, as my modding is related to the TW series which we make, i had to have my mod green lighted by SEGA given the fact i am now a CA employee. The mod is not official or unofficial in anyway, i just happen to be a modder who now works for CA.
In my mods i have added in nothing that other modders could not do. There are not new speeches, i've edited the way reputation and diplomacy work like other modders do. I do have access to some things other modders do not, but i specifically do not use them as that is incredibly unfair and so i mod in the same way everyone else does.

Whoa, I am half right. I was just kinda wondering, not convinced or anything of any wrong doing. Even if you did create it as an unofficial patch, you still couldn't advertise about it - ever due to you employment but I got a better answer than I was expecting. Thanks.

It isn't. It's just made by a (presumabely good since he got into CA) modder.
Re: Is LTC an unofficial and unadvertised patch for M2TW
Well, Lusted was a modder waaayyy before he started working for CA, if I recall correctly he started working for CA this summer, and that was after the early versions of LTC came out.
Many of the mods out there change far more the LTC and are of comparable quality, and even though LTC stays true to the spirit of vanilla I woulnd't call it an unofficial patch in anyway.

I started modding when iking Invasion came out for the original Medieval Total War, and yes the first version of LTC was released in end of last year, over 6 months before i joined CA and a month or so before i came into contact with Palamedes and Caliban.

Re: Is LTC an unofficial and unadvertised patch for M2TW
This does seem a little unfair... I play LtC (or did until Kingdoms, I play Refit now until LtC 4.0) and it is what it says it is on the tin. A mod that simply reworks the balance of the vanilla game.
I guess Lusted leave's himself open to this because of the way in which no new features or theme is added by the mod. It many ways it appears very simplistic though I would think the term subtle would be more appropriate.
It is interesting to hear that Lusted has made a point of not capitalizing on his position to improve his mod. I for one would not mind if he did, but I could see how it could cause friction in the modding comunity if he did.
My opinion, this is not an unofficial patch, it is a mod... And like most of the other mods out there, adds positively to the vanilla game.

well i also think that it is a mod and a pretty good one. thanks lusted.
