Moving... *ugh*

Its been a LONG week, about two months ago I took a short trip back home in Montana to visit relatives by myself. I had assumed before going that it was just to be a relatively short trip (my Brother had arrived home after being on Hiatus visiting the poorer parts of the world for the last two years) So I get there, no big deal. Had a great time, and a week later I was back home again. But, the thing is, is I dreaded leaving, I had such a great time, open wilderness, beautiful days, went fishing on the lake (and got a pretty bad sunburn) and I knew that back in California, it would be another Smoggy Day, Congested Traffic, unfriendly people. But nevertheless, I did return.
Depression had sort of stuck its ugly head in the house (flat), Ms. Waki was out taking care of the kids, I'm doing relatively nothing, I'm an outdoors person, and I'm in the middle of this City, really its just a headache to even get anywhere slightly remote. So I confront the Wife about the possibility of moving to Big Sky Country, now she's lived here her entire life, I mean before I came along she had never really even left the State. And I was prepared to take a Tongue Lashing over this, but what surprised me, is that she had been feeling some anxiety over living here with the Twins. This City does something to people... and the crime rate has been spiraling more and more out of control, in the last month there have been three murders and six robberies in our block alone. Yeah, its time to leave.
So we start talking to a Realtor about the areas in Montana we'd be interested in living, and this guy was on the ball the whole time, in two weeks we found a nice Home a little bit outside of Missoula, A Two Story, 3100 Square Foot Home, on a twenty acre riverside property twenty Minutes from Town. So I ask my brother if he'd go and check it out in our stead and he called back a day later and said "This is the place." And whats more, It prices at only fifteen thousand more than our 400 Square Foot Flat in Santa Barbara. uhhh... of course! So what went from looking, has turned into a buy (We Put in for six thousand less than asking and they accepted) Whats even better, is that the couple who originally owned it were using it for a summer escape (The Guy is a Power Broker for Wall Street or some such thing) and they had fallen on hard times and needed to get rid of the house ASAP. So, the deal I brokered with them is that I would personally cover for half the house out of my own pocket and the Bank would cover the other half as long as they had moved everything out by the end of next week. So we finalized everything Friday evening, and had our Realtor put the Flat up for sale. So Ms. Waki and I have been packing non-stop for last two days(thankfully the twins have been unusually quiet), and the truck comes tomorrow to pick up all of our furniture and stuff. (My laptop stays with me). Then hopefully on Tuesday morning we'll be all set and ready to go. *Yawns* and I'm exhausted. :laugh4:

Congratulations on the move Waki! I'm sure it'll be worth it to get away from the city and back into the wilderness. I'm not sure how well I'd fare if I was stuck in the middle of the city either....

Congratulations, and I don't think you'll regret your move. I've lived in the country almost my whole life, and I prefer it to the city by a mile. Admittedly, living somewhere like Nürnberg isn't too bad, but I much prefer the country. There's space to do everything you like, and the air is much fresher. I've never been to Montana, but it sounds to me like some of Canada I've been too, and enjoyed.

I know how you feel about cities vs the country. Just wish more IT jobs were available in smaller towns...

Last day here, though I'm going to miss being able to walk down half a block from my apartment to grab a cup of Turkish Coffee every morning, or waking up really early in the morning and watching the Morning Sunrise beat gently against the surf. That, and this is really the first place I've ever lived by myself, where the twins and mum came home from the hospital... and a lot of other things. I also realize theres a lot of other reasons why I should leave, mostly because of the Drugs, and Kidnappings, and Gang related stuff that shouldn't exist anywhere... and I know its not like this can be completely avoided in Montana, but there is a much smaller risk of it, and you can generally keep closer tabs on your youngins when you live 20 minutes from town, and your next door neighbor is half a mile down the road. Ms. Waki's parents aren't exactly thrilled about the move either, Italian Immigrants with that loyalty thing :furious3: :laugh4: . I'll give them a year before they move near us anyways, Ms. Waki's dad is an avid Biker, and there are some really great rides around here. Well, Probably should get going, the Twins are starting to get fussy sitting in this Cafe, listening to Cool Jazz.

Felicitations and it is a better choice than maintaining your stay in a city or something like it. It seems one could/would find trouble in whatever form and size anywhere, but at least a big city can be among the worst places.

You're sooo lucky.

I'm in the process of buying a new house in Wales, just north of Newport, and it's going to take at least another 2 months in addition to the month it's taken already. Added to this is the fact that we got our survey report in yesterday and it mentions things like damp, woodworm, inadequate ventilation and lack of a fire wall so it seems that your move is going a lot smoother than mine.

To be hionest, apart from the fresh air, I prefer big cities so far. People here in Essen are friendlier than where I come from and I don't need to spend 7 EUR and half an hour(or pay for a car) to see a good friend.

Though once I have a family and a car, my opinion about that might change.:shrug:

Oh and your finding a new house and moving sounds very easy and fast, not bad.

Well, finally made it. Woooo! Staying in a hotel in Missoula until Saturday (when we can actually start unpacking and moving in). I was a bit disappointed to find out that they're only running a CAT-5 Cable near our house, but I don't really care. Man, You can really feel fall is coming here, when we got into town at about 3pm it was like 71 Fahrenheit but its cooled down to 52 in four hours. Yikes. Ah well, I'm looking forward to a bit of skiing and so on this winter (haven't done that in ages), and actually watching it snow. the last time I saw snow was when the Mrs. and Me went to Montreal last year...

Anyways, just stopping by to say hi and thanks to everyone. I probably won't be on in some time (I guess we'll see).
