New DVD Drive
My old DVD drive, which has lasted for so long (it was used in my old PC) has finally given up the ghost. It still reads CD's, but it's ability to eject has disappeared, i'm having to physically pry it open with screwdrivers whenever i want to take out or put in a CD. So, i'm just wondering what DVD drives are on the market these days capable of playing all DVD formats.

Re: New DVD Drive
All of them, but you have to find one. These days they want the choice to be DVD-RW with or without lightscribe. If you don't know what lightscribe is, it's a DVD-RW that if you buy spcial DVD media. When your done burning the disk you open the tray flip is over and use the laser to burn a label on the disk.

Just have a poke around here ...

Re: New DVD Drive
I'd say just spend the extra $10-20 and get a DVD-R. You're replacing it anyway, why not go the extra mile and get one that can record DVDs as well as read them?

Re: New DVD Drive
Thanks for the link Lemur. Lots of good looking drives there, more than an apt replacement for my current one.
Thanks to Lars and Xiahou as well for their contributions.

Re: New DVD Drive
While you're at it, just buy two of them that can both read and write or one that reads and another that reads and writes, for greater renewal.
