I got a CTD immediately after a battle as Epeiros against Macedonia. I was attacked by an army trying to lift the siege on Korinthos, and crushed both of them--then I got a CTD right before I made it back to the campaign map to save.
Cheers.
I got a CTD in my Kart-Hadast campaign immediately after fighting a fairly large battle (got on my tits, it was the battle from Roma! :laugh4: ).
This is the only situation I would get a CTD in pre-1.0 though and probably in Vanilla too so I don't think its EB's fault.
CTDs happen with ANY program, the thing to do is do the same thing again and see if the CTD reoccurs. If its a recurring CTD get as much information as you can then paste it up for the EB team to hopefully do something about. No point wasting time for something that was a one off :)
Check the technical help forum for details.
cheers
The only CTD I got when I douple clicked Rome to get into the building que, this was right after it had grown to large city. It was an persistent bug. I managed to bypass it by opening another city and scrolling to Rome and after that everything was fine :sweatdrop:
That kind of thing makes everyone scratch their heads when it happens. It just doesn't seem logical given what we know, so we generally have to attribute it to something we have no control over.Quote:

I had a CTD DURING a battle with Epiros, it was right after I routed his entire stack too..... I think I shed a bit of a tear after I saw that crash error message.
:dizzy2:
I've got a CTD in my first game with v1.0. That was a Romani campaign and I got an army besieging Segesta. When my battering rams were produced and clicked "fight the battle on battle map" and had a CTD. Restarted the game, attacked again, no CTD this time.
The exact same thing happened after an hour's play, this time when attacking Bononia.
Edit: One more hour of gameplay and the same CTD happened on a subsequent siege of Panonia.
I got a CTD immediately after routing an Epirote army near Taras (I had Cotta laying siege to Taras and another smaller stack approached and attacked).
I am quite disappointed by this, I played EB 0.81 for hundreds of hours without a CTD, on this same system too.. I hope the bugs can be worked out soon.
I got CTD when I tried to start up a custom battle.
I did get a CTD too, as the garrison of Gawjam~Silengoz sallied out to attack me when I sieged it with my sweboz army.
Damn, I was really happy that it didnt reoccur after I had loaded the autosave.
Sounds like sprites. Which is weird...
I have a CTD when it's supposed that a campaign or a battle would begin to load, but it crashes and it goes to desktop. This problem is with E.B. v.1.
i get 2 ctd. One immediately after launching the game (a bad welcome) and another launching the battle for the siege of Taras; the units involved were the taras' epiriote garrison and the roman one in Arpi. obviously i had my -show_err but the engine crashed....
Those of you who have trouble starting a campaign, please try the validation tool I posted in the tech help forum. This might give a clue why it's not working.
Those of you who experience CTDs during gameplay, please post about it in the tech help forum. And please answer the questions in the "How to ask for help with a crash" thread linked in my sig.
I have a CTD every time I TRY to start a campaign. Strange enough the main menu is flickering all the time & it seems the vanilla Rome is lurking in the background. Very strange & SAD...installed around 8 time in all variations + downloaded 2 versions~ ~ :ballchain: ....Help anyone for a very very sad man?
Edit: I have just seen this occurs with a lot of other people too...I will search a bit around....maybe it will work.....
Subedei, did you read this?Quote:

That should help sub out - mine was doing it too till I just took the movies out by doing that.
I had the classic CTD after winning a battle during the enemy's turn.
Thank you TA, I found this :Quote:

Yes, at the end of the shortcut you add " -nm". The path in front of RomeTW.exe may vary.
I've had one, just after conquering Segesta from the Eleutherians and was about to start a new turn. Re-loaded, tried again and everything worked fine.
Alrighty, a little step further I went. The menu ain“t flickering any more. This is good...
Anymways: After choosing a campaign...EB shows a loading screen for about 1/4 sec. then I get the loading bar only with balck background and....ctd....
Sorry Bovi, I did not use your programm yet, as I did not have the time yesterday night.
Anyways. maybe I should try the map thingy adviced...I will 2nite. And this night I will get the baby running, inspite of all Digital Demons lurcking in my PC...
Well, I had a lot of trouble with 0.80 back in the days to...as soon as 0.81 came out it ran as smooth as a~:pimp:
You should try to download a map.rwm, some people have got it to work that way. My reaction was just because it was the very next post after mine, asking for any help, when it was just there. You don't have to.
No problem at all! I see how much you help the "CTD-community" out with all your know-how. Thanks man! I appreciate that a lot as one of them digital noobs....:smash:Quote:

- the -nm in the starting line helped with the flickering in the main menu & the factions overview menu, as I said
- Map.rwm did not help against CTD
- Tried the MS process tool, and it had the very strange habit -while running in the background- to shut down the hole system, instead of the regular CTD....so the system uploaded again and as soon as I opened my EB filter there were so many other processes that one could not find the reason for the CTD anymore
- then - during watching the German soccer team getting murdered by the brilliant Czechs- I came up with the idea to use the "Repair" option in the EB installer....no changes.....
- then I tried the Rome.exe and strange enough...Vanilla Rome was working....My question: may that be the reason why my EB CTDs all the time? Confusion? Maybe the install of EB did not change the rome.exe...but I checked the path it is the correct one?!?!?
- Another interesting thing: the regular "loading scrreens" which I always enjoy[ed] reading appear for 1 sec...than it is only loading bar & black background. On the other hand the EB starting screen with all the credits and that persits.
Oh, oh, oh.....note: I do not attack/bash or whine...You would not believe how much I learned about PCs & Software during the last week of searching, installing, unpacking, repairing, analyzing and all of that....And most of all -well, besides playing EB- I do not want to bother the team...
I am mailing just in case one would know a solution to my trouble....
Next step: finally try bovi's tool.....we will see...:dizzy2:
P.S.: How can I be absolutely sure, there ain't any traces of former installs on my PC? Any tools or something.....
Search the registry for keywords (run regedit, it's part of Windows). Among the keywords that could work are "RomeTW", "Creative Assembly", "Activision", the paths you have installed into earlier... Can't think of more. If there are any matches, there are your traces :beam:.Quote:

:wall:
After conquering Epiros and the whole Adriatic coast, after capturing Patavium and Bononia, I besieged Mediolanum. After three rounds, I clicked the end round button. Well, the round never ended. After 5 Minutes of waiting, I hit the esc and quit the game. After restarting my machine I tried to reload the campaign, but all I got were error messages.
:furious3:
what went wrong?
how can I prevent this from happening again?
how should I react if it happens again?
thanks for helping!
ROMA INVICTA!!!
Me to actually... I just can not belive that, that is why I started new M campaign, but now, I got on CTD after I WON in Front of Byzantum, and before in front of Pell (and this was heroic...my god!:wall: )Quote:
