Easier way to play custom battles?

Is there an easier way to play custom battles without going through all the trouble for the EDU?

Cuz I remember back in .81, someone posted a topic on copying and pasting several files to get the custom & campaign battles to work at the same time without having to switch on/off constantly

but, from what I understand its not really that hard, Just back up your single player edu, insert custombattle/multiplayer edu. and have fun?
