starting diplomacy for baktria
from what i know, Baktria was a client kingdom of the AS. should Baktria be to start as a protectorate to the AS?
seems kinda strange that they are only allies....
btw, can i have some more background info on Baktria? i want to learn more on them. :study:
ps- how does this whole protectorate thing work anyhow?
Re: starting diplomacy for baktria
You can't start a game with any faction as a protectorate.
Re: starting diplomacy for baktria
ah.......
that makes sense! but historically, were they?
Re: starting diplomacy for baktria
could you maybe at the start of the game with the script run a diplomat over and then use accept_off(or whatever is it) then have them accept a protectorate?
Re: starting diplomacy for baktria
that'd be unfair... Baktria would barely expand that much, unless AS randomly attacked them(and thus Baktria would stop paying tribute).

Baktria was a satrapy (most of the territory held by the Seleucids were satrapies) until 250-ish when the satrap revolted against the Seleucids.
The most accurate way of representing Baktria at the start of the game is as a part of the Arche Seleukeia with a Type 2 (maybe 3) government, but they had to be made a seperate faction so their "rebellion" could take place.
Re: starting diplomacy for baktria
If you wanted to play with scrit accuaracy as Baktria, what should you do? Give tribute to the Selukids for 20 years whilst making tentative forays into the Hindu Kush? Or jsut nothing atall for 20 years?

These should be a big step in getting to know them.
And some major cities...

and a bonus, for those reading this...
In this french link, you will see a 3d reconstruction of Ai-Khanoum, or Alexandria Oxiane, the name it was founded by, and Eukratidia, the name it had when it was destroyed at 145 BCE
