I love/hate the new working disasters!
My campaign is about 35 years or so in and I've had 2 plagues in my two largest cities at the time and one earthquake 3 years into the game when my more Makedonian heir Alkyoneus was killed in an Earthquake holding a militia army outside of Pella while Antigonos marched across the lower Peloponnesian peninsula. Something so small really adds a lot of reality and depth to the game. And while I'm taking the time to fill a thread slot Client Rulers rock. Was never a big fan of Lvl4 government but I can't get enough of them now on the outskirts of my empire, makes it much more historically representative also. Great job again guys, I can't seem to say it enough. At least I've refrained from a white film hardening to my monitor. *shifty eyes*
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
on one occasion half of my population perished when earthquake struck in Pokr Hayk.
volcano just saved my ass though:laugh4:
there was a full, half elite Ptolies' stack approaching to reclaim my newly aquired Mazaka. the whole army, except some miserable remands, got wiped out by the volcano. i had some casuties in the city too, but mine were insignificant.
needles to say i loved it.
disasters bring variety and life into the game imo. if only the storms, which should be most frequent than anything else, could be fixed...
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
Whoa, those sound brutal, especially that whole encroaching army getting wiped out by a volcano. That day must have been remembered and celebrated as a religious holiday eh? I haven't had any disasters strike the British Isles or western Europe in 70 years, lucky me I guess. I can't afford anything going crazy that's out of my hands.
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
Some areas are far more likely to have disasters. Much of the mediterranean is prone to earthquakes and volcanoes since there is a collision of two tectonic plates there, and three in the east.

Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
Love the new disasters, one time lost almost all of my soldiers do to a earthquake lol. To bad storms don't happen, never have seen one in 1.0.
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
So you guys took realistic plate tectonics into consideration with earthquakes? r0x0r5!!11!!@3b g30gr4p4y :dizzy2:
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
What does @3b mean?
I could just about decifer the rest, but that... overloads my poor little brain.
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
Heh....that is for the 7334 to know friend.
No....its EB. I just was addressing Bovi, and last time he scolded me for making my 7334 speak too readable. :laugh4:
Oh, and @ is at.
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
I thought it was 1334 not 7334:inquisitive:
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
Not just that, but took into consideration history of the areas. Greece itself had/has been prone to earthquakes.
In the current game I'm playing, Diospolis-Megale suffered an earthquake that took out 3/4 of its population... it was a huge city at the time.
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
Last time I checked it was 1911. I know, I'm so not in sync with the scene.
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
I've seen it both tbh....who in the hell cares? Its all gibberish....
For example....
9uew[trkqwofgmwe;ogfjwreoijgf'qp3kepojsiojfioehihiehruehuhgan ujdhfuidhfjfirenfuihguaidfkg fjnifh aig qioefjhqi9ji iveigfuh a 8fgjhoifj
If you can figure that out....you have what it takes to be 133t (another way I've seen it spelled).
@abou
Awesome...usuall things like that are random. You guys never disappoint.
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
I can gaurante that is you just randomly stabbing the keyboard.
Therefore I have discovered the message behind the gibberish, therefore I must be 133t. (whatever that is)
Actualy what is it? some form of mental disability?
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
Anyway, so yeah, what I meant was that it's not mere luck that you haven't been plagued by disasters in the Western Europe.

at eb, or s/t like that
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
@pharnakes
Most definitely. Therefore, I am the 1337357 of them all.
Sorry....didn't think fooling around in my post would generate such a hullabaloo.
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
A good spam is a pleasure to behold, nothing to be ashamed of.:laugh4:
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
im just wandering why no building damage occurs? or is it random?
i had two devastating earthquakes, one in Lesser Armenia and another in Albania with almost half of inhabitants perished and yet no damage done to the buildings whatsoever.:inquisitive:
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!

Edit: Post count 777. Am I 1337 or what? I will never post again.

It looks like a lucky seven to me
Do not post again until you've tried your luck at the lottery

Take a look at the earthquake epicenter map and frequency numbers. We were quite specific, and not just province-specific either, but down to the exact areas.
EB Disasters: Thanks to renewed work on disasters in RTW in general, both on TWC and ORG modding fora, we have been able to get more of them working in our current build. We had a number of discussions on how to maximize them while still keeping them realistic, and locations were researched and discussed for many of the disasters we are implementing now. Unfortunately Storms are still totally broken in RTW and will not be included, but we have Epidemic Diseases, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, and optional Floods. Even better than just having them, most of the work done on them has been in restricting them to the areas they had the most effect. Here are maps describing those areas:
Map showing Increased EB Chances for Epidemic Disease (Outbreaks) Arriving via Trade/Grain Shipments (one somewhere on the map roughly every two years, intensity ranges from 2-7)
Map showing Possible EB Earthquake Epicenters (one somewhere on the map roughly every three years, intensity ranges from 2-10)
Map showing EB Volcanoes (black cores indicate dormant/extinct, but still major/massive stratovolcanoes; red active volcanoes include those stratovolcanoes or large lava fields that have caused destruction/death in historical times)
Map showing EB Flood Prone Locations (*if* activated - they do not come activated in regular build, but are commented out - and also a backup file with them will be included - one somewhere on the map roughly every two years, intensity ranges from 5-8; problems with flooded territories may be resolved by deleting map.rwm and restarting a campaign)
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
Very useful resource! :2thumbsup:
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
Only plagues till now as Karthadastim and it is 209! No floods, no vulcanos :(
Re: I love/hate the new working disasters!
NOOOOOOOOHOHOOOOO!
Had two stacks wiped out by an eruption of Etna last night. Obviously the favor of Hephaistos as well as Poseidon must be sought before we go to the aid of our brothers in Syrakousai...
I love you guys! XD
