Rebels and revolts, revolts and rebels
1) I'm playing as Pontos and I do NOT want to run in to AS/ptolemy territory yet. So I took Antiocheia and then completely sacked it - i mean , completely destroyed everything i could. It was a huge city so i figured once i pulled out my troops, it would be an unpreventable revolt for the stupid AS. well, an army of severly beaten up AS (6 or 7 units with no more than 8 men each) moved into the city after i left. I waited with glee was they moved, unknowing that they were about to get pwned by eleutheroi.
Boy was I wrong. That stupid army just stayed there, and out of nowhere every turn buildings that normally take 10 or 4 turns (type 1 AS gov't, some stupid low level temple), start popping up on Antiocheia. I get angry and send in 2 spies to lower their public order and an assassin to sabatoge the type 1 gov't. The spied infiltrated successfully and the assassin did his duty, Still nothing. WHAT THE (#*&(&#$ DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET THEM TO REVOLT???
2)Why do rebel stacks spawn so often now? did rebels really pop up like this in history? i have to keep two medium sized armies in my provinces so that i can kill those stupid rebels. Can we turn this down? Its really a buzzkill to have to actually play through retarded battles of my army versus 3 persian archers and a pantadapoi. and if i autoresolve, i always lose so many guys , which i find hard to believe because those persian archers are so worthless when I am actually controlling them.
Thanks,
Re: Rebels and revolts, revolts and rebels
You can use auto_win attacker command and autoresolve to kill them. You still lose troops but are winning. It's not the best way but I use it, too when fighting against those crappy little armies.
Re: Rebels and revolts, revolts and rebels
If you really don't like pop up rebels go into your desc_strat folder and put 9999 (as many 9's as you like) into the brigand_spawn_value. If you don't like pirates put the value into the pirate line.
Re: Rebels and revolts, revolts and rebels
Auto resolve gives you big experience points, it's usually worth the loss of a few men.
Re: Rebels and revolts, revolts and rebels
Yeah, and if it's in your home provinces, you can just retrain the armies (they'll keep the experience, it just re-ups their numbers and equipment to the highest level available).
Personally I auto-resolve everything in campaign mode.
As for your spies/assassins not working well - I've never even been able to spy on anything successfully in EB. Even allied diplomats. As for assassins, I haven't bothered building one.
It's strange, sometimes the AI cities get built up really fast after I sack them, other times I go back and notice they've hardly done anything to them..
Re: Rebels and revolts, revolts and rebels
Concerning spies: some cities are nearly un-infilterable (word ??), others have chances of 93 or 75 %. Get your noob spies in one of 93/75 ones and let them get better. Then search for another city with 93 or 75 %. And so on and so forth ... and your spies get better and better.
Yet, some cities are so well defended against spies (character with "Counterspy" trait, own spy/spies with enough xp), that your chances are never better than, say some 10 or 20 %. Either give it a try or save your spy for something else.
Yours,
Treverer
Re: Rebels and revolts, revolts and rebels
What is your taxation levels in rebel infested territories? I'm not sure but have read EB member comments that hint that rebel pop-up's might have correlation with high taxation.
In my Sweboz campaign i have had only two rebel stack spawnings and at least the first was after having Swebotraustamnoz (spelling?) on very high taxes.

It's very difficult to get an AI settlement to rebel in Very Hard campaign difficulty. I don't know if there's any difference between Medium and Hard conserning this, but there's a notable difference between H and VH.
The type I Gov that seemingly spawned in Antiocheia did infact spawn there. The script places the highest available gov building to every settlement that AI takes, because otherwise AI would never manage to build governments in time.
