CTD Playing Romani after FH dies
Can I first say I have been playing EB since the 7 series and I was very impressed with that. I was not expecting the 8 series to be a great improvement but it was and I spent the whole time (I played every day) between that and the release of 1.0 playing one Romani campaign on VH/VH. A very challenging and rewarding experience. I finished just in time to download 1.0. Verion 8 was so good I thought there could not be much room left for improvement. But again I was wrong. The look and feel of the new game is even more immersive and there are so many new features which add to the feeling of being in a real world. I cannot believe how much pains-taking attention to detail has gone into this last version. I am immensely grateful. Very well done!
But I do have a problem.
I have fought this battle three times and auto-resolved twice. I even managed to save once before the CTD. My army is in Emporion and is beseiged - 2 generals, 2 Campagnian Cavalry, 2 Triarii, 2 Principes, 2 Hastati, 2 Iberi Milites, 6 Jaosotae. Beseiging army is: 1 general (Abula Tittikum), 3 Scortamareva, 3 Golberi, 2 Iberi Scutarii, 2 Gestikapoinam. I sally. After the battle a message appears saying my faction leader has died. If I open or close the message a CTD happens. It doesn't always happen straight away - if I ignore the message and save it has let me once but the saved game does not load. Usually it CTDs before I can save. The message says 'slain peforming deeds..." although he was not in Emporion but in Rhegion where no battle took place. Year is 229BC.
Sorry I have just noticed I put FH in the title it should of course be FL.
Re: CTD Playing Romani after FH dies
You'll have to post the savegame, that sounds really odd.

Re: CTD Playing Romani after FH dies
I have done a bit nore investigatuing and I now think the problem is not to do with the battle at Emporion at all but with a strange event two turns before this. I have uploaded the game here. http://uploaded.to/?id=fvxl8j. You will see in this game an army outside Rhegion led by Marcus Papirius Crassus it contains 1 Misthophoroi phalangitai, i Misthophoroi Peltastai, 2 Mitnaghim Numidium, 1 Misteret Izrahim Tsorim, 1 Poonim Lebiponim, 2 Dorkim Lubim-Ponnim Mookdamim, 4 Dorkim Garamantim and 1 Kasim Numidim. This army just appeared from nowhere without announcement. I assumed they must have revolted to me but when I tried to move them they vanished. I forgot about this and carried on. I have reloaded this game and now if I move the army into a city or end the turn the game CTDs.
Re: CTD Playing Romani after FH dies
They even vanish when you move the garrison out of Rhegion. It's really weird, and you shouldn't be able to have all those troops either I think, as they turn up as peasants. Freaky.
However, it does not crash if I end turn, at least not after moving the Rhegion army out of the city and back in.
Re: CTD Playing Romani after FH dies
Thanks for looking at this again. I have tried moving the army out of Rhegium and then back again and I do not get a CTD on that turn. But if I play on three turns when Emporion is attacked again I sally and win the battle again and then it CTDs! I guess this may remain a mystery for some time.
Re: CTD Playing Romani after FH dies
Gah, I didn't try to take it that far :wall:. I think it must be some ghost army from a massive disaster causing it. Starting over (with the fix for it installed) should avoid it happening again, or possibly reverting to an earlier save would work too.
