Change settlement's name and another question..
Hi! Does anyone know if is it possible in this -GREAT- mod, change the names of my cities? For example, after the roman conquest, I would like to change Taras to Tarentum, Ak-Ink to Aquincum... Is it possible and easy to do?
Another question: actually in my campaign I own almost 40 settlements (including all italian peninsula and sicily), 190 BC, but I haven't had the Polybian Reform... Now it is not a problem, but without it could still happen the Marian reform?
Anyway a fantastic game!!
Re: Change settlement's name and another question..
...First off for the Polybian question ,did you activate the script .
secondly no you cannot change the city names. That will screw with the scripting and weird will shit will happen .

Maybe it is a weird question, but... How can I activate the script??
Re: Change settlement's name and another question..
Click a settlement. The advisor will tell you how to activate it (click Show me how). You need to do this every time you start or load a game.
Re: Change settlement's name and another question..
Lol, this has to be at least once a week....

Yeah, I know. People should really learn to read the FAQ, it's what its there for after all. Saying that though, there hasn't been a Lorica Segmentata question in a while...

There was a LS thread a couple weeks ago...
I don't think I've seen a 'slinger overpowered' thread for months, though.
Re: Change settlement's name and another question..
.
You can change settlement names in BI. I think in-game changes don't affect the "internal" names so no screwing up happens.
Just a theory though. An EB with BI player should clarify.
.
Re: Change settlement's name and another question..
Name changing does work with 1.5/1.6, however the script looks for external names and changing the name of the town will result in problems.
Re: Change settlement's name and another question..
Would there be a way for it to look for an internal name in the next build?

No.
Some scripting commands simply do not accept an internal name.
Re: Change settlement's name and another question..
To change names of cities, you have the edit the prefences.txt file, which isn't hard at all... besides that, at every reform, just change the name of the city back to what it was, then after the reform, change it back again to what you prefer.
I rename some of the cities in my campaign after faction leaders who died, i.e. Theodopolis.

I tried, and it works!
Thanks

Re: Change settlement's name and another question..
Don't feel bad about the script thing. I had gone something like 30 years into a campaign without activating the script. So, your mistake was just as bad as mine.
Re: Change settlement's name and another question..
^Same here. We were all EB newbies once...unless you were smart and read FAQ prior to playing...

Perhaps that's because the EB team heeded the community's demand and fixed the problem.
Re: Change settlement's name and another question..
Hmm, all we did was to make sure the slingers need more space to deploy -- hence stacking up slingers in one army becomes less of a feasible option, unless you want to see them getting cut to shreds in melee... :juggle:
Though their attack value may have been lowered somewhat too.

Well...I did that too, and the result was that client rulers didn't show up in the cities which names I had edited. And if you're thinking of editing the names back when you want reforms, then be warned: I couldn't type Arsé or Kart-Hadast, as the game accepted only letters and nothing else. Although that might be a problem with my keyboard/computer only.
