I'm about to start a Makedonian campaign and I was doing some basic research. Ten minutes on yours truly, Wikipedia, yield some basic composition numbers from Alexanders campaign, that might be helpful to someone... anyway:

I also found out about the Sacred Band of Thebes. Definitely should be a US Marine equivalent :smash: :beam:

Did they fight as Iphikratian phalanx? In this case you are right in the sense that these untis and their equipment were first used as marines and later adopted for land combat.
