One Hillside, on a Cool Sunset

As the sun casts a last look
On the green grass, and earthy ground,
It turns the black mane a soft brown.
As the birds above, they glint in glee
And the dogs: they prance and roll playfully,
And as we watch, they slowly turn the page.

And the wind, it passes through,
Our hands, hair, and touches
To play with the clothes about our necks;
It whips up the scent, and stings the mind,
And plays the lemon trees through a dance,
It billows and moans, to the softest of melodies.

And I am caught,
Trapped, in the moment of it all,
And as the sun, it bids me farewell,
I am stuck to wonder,
How the next age will come to pass,
And at once, it is night.
