Romans have no sense of humor
I never knew it, but it appears that the tribes living on the Iberian peninsula in ancient times were renowned as great comedians. Sometimes, leaders or generals would receive a cognomen to reflect their awesome ability to joke around and be silly:

But the invading Romans had no respect for the laughter these people were bringing into the world. Their greatest general of the day decided to crush them, in between banging various local senoritas and talking the hind legs off donkeys:

Yes, it's true. The Romans have no sense of humor.
Re: Romans have no sense of humor

Re: Romans have no sense of humor

Re: Romans have no sense of humor
Aderbal is the guys name and lol is his surname.
Re: Romans have no sense of humor
People with a sense of humour don't conquer the world though. All 'great' figures in history were dull and humourless. If they knew how to laugh they wouldn't feel so depressed to the point that they have to conquer people and enslave them.
Re: Romans have no sense of humor
I miss the old epitaph titles that extreme-trait family members used to get... I've only seen one so far, on a guy who was "lame from birth". But, I guess, LOL will do for now. :)
Re: Romans have no sense of humor
warlords make great empires not for their people, but to compensate for something-abserdal lol

This reminds me of two movie scenes:
a) Timebandits: Napoleon monologing about great people's height, and
b) Spartacus: Sempronius Gracchus (Ch. Laughton) explaining Lentulus Batiatus (Peter Ustinov) the difference between "gluttons" and "handsome" people.
Yours, T.

That's true actually, what happened to all the old titles? I mean Alexander obtained the 'Great' title, though I'm assuming this was given to him while he was alive and not by people afterwards... is there a reason why titles were removed?
And that pic is pretty funny... maybe some cowardly generals can have the 'brb' title... hmm... that's a bad joke, though I was never good at making jokes in English in the first place...
Re: Romans have no sense of humor
I've seen this in the bast with Iberian generals in vanilla RTW. Just a fun easter egg.:beam:

I half remember having a general with a newly acquired name of "the Bastard" in vanilla RTW or possibly Medieval.
I haven't acquired any names (eg Africanvs) in EB 1.0 yet, do they replace your FMs surname (eg Pvblivs Africanvs) or come after it (eg Pvblivs Cornelivs Scipio Africanvs)?

They replace the names. You can actually see that in my screenshots; the funny Spaniard was spotted and defeated by the legendary general Caivs Africanvs (born Caivs Avrelivs Cotta).
Re: Romans have no sense of humor
So you can!
That is a shame, I would've preffered it the other way, like they did with Scipio Asina at the start of the game. But it doesn't detract from this SUPERB (and potentionally relationship destroying) game.
Re: Romans have no sense of humor
The game engine automatically replaces the last name of characters on its own when doing a name change.
It could be possible to have the full name change, now that the Romans have names given by traits. Though, it would require a copy for all the traits and triggers for every name changing trait for every single possible Roman name.
Re: Romans have no sense of humor
Bit of a chore then eh? A beer or two for the brave man who thinks he's up for it for EB 1.1 (providing you're in the north of England to receive your reward).
