Unit Graphics - is there a new way to do them?

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering whether anyone knew a way to draw new unit graphics without having to draw it pixel by pixel or using a 3d program as told in Duke John's Tutorial? If no other way exists, could someone please explain in more detail Duke John's reference to using a 3d program to create the animations and transfering them to a .bif - since the tutorial is incomplete?
