Re: Problem with eb1.0
This sounds like a unique problem, but you should nevertheless try the solutions that have helped others. See the EB installation validation thread for a checklist, and say what you've done of them. As you can play 0.81, I doubt there is any hardware problem.
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
It's realy weird, no error or message ocurred through all instalation, but when I start the game it takes a lot of time to load and get to menu screen, and it starts winkling, and part of it gets purple. All advices that found in this forum are about errors of instalation, validation, but no error ocurred in my instalation, and I got the original CD of the game. I followed correctly all the guides and advices of instalation
Ill download the game again and hope that will make any diference, till there could anyone give me a new advice
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
Sorry, but when others have said they did "all" of the things in the validation thread they invariably have not. Please post the checklist and what you've done of them.
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
Sorry Bovi for not posting results :S, but here they are:
I reinstalled Rome, 1.3, 1.5, then unpacked the EB things using 7-zip, and installed.
I Ran the validation, and apeared this message:
You seem to have a functioning install.
No changes to the original files seem to have been made, however some are added.
==========
Added file: .\persistent_logs\ai_subterfuge.txt
Added file: .\persistent_logs\issued_advice.txt
Added file: .\persistent_logs\issued_ancillaries.txt
Added file: .\persistent_logs\issued_traits.txt
I donwloaded the map.rwm file and placed it in eb/data/world/maps/base.
But my menu screen keeps crazy and I still cant start camaping or custom, CTD.
What you meant with add -nm to shortcut? Will be like EB10-nm?
I'll try the another fixes...
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
I actually meant the checklist, not the validation results, but thanks for those all the same (they check out :2thumbsup:).
Your current shortcut probably has in the target field (right-click and choose properties):
c:\your\rtw\folder\RomeTW.exe -mod:eb
Change this to
c:\your\rtw\folder\RomeTW.exe -mod:eb -nm
While you're at it, you can add -ne as well if you want to run it windowed:
c:\your\rtw\folder\RomeTW.exe -mod:eb -nm -ne
X Using a nocd crack? Your game won't work, use the original executable instead. There is no point in trying the rest of the list until you install a fresh, clean 1.5 RTW.
X Install RTW and EB once again, from scratch
X Install using 7-zip rather than installer
X Download a map.rwm file and place it in eb/data/world/maps/base (requires both the disaster and Oppida permanent fixes)
_ Add -nm to the shortcut
_ Delete some interfering files that Vista hides in its bowels
X Run the validation tool to diagnose the problem
_ Install the fixes linked in my sig
_ Add more swap space in Windows, and other technical measures you can take
X Using RTW Gold? Try to uninstall everything and do not install BI
_ Got an ATI Radeon X700 graphics card? Apparently some setting called "Support DXT textures format" is creating problems. Try to change this setting for the driver called "Support DXT textures format".
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
I installed all the fixes but nothing changes.
I dont use vista or ATI Radeon X700 graphics card.
I don't have any RomeTW.exe -mod:eb
When i add nm to mu RomeTW.exe its format changes and i can't run the game.
Ill try the technical measures and see what hapens = o
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
It's format... changes? You do know that EB 0.8x has this switch by default, and works by your own words? Please check that you've got it correctly.

Re: Problem with eb1.0
C:\Arquivos de programas\Jogos!\Europa Barbarorum 1.0
Thats the folder i installed EB1.0, and there is no RomeTW.exe -mod:eb
All i got there is a RomeTW.exe
Yes, i can play EB0.81
I use "search" in my computer and it did not find any RomeTW.exe -mod:eb
O.o
Tell me if this what you meant our im being a Computer noob as always xD
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
All that is left me to try is to add the -nm, but i still don't understand how to, i can't finde the RomeTW.exe -mod:eb archive.
What drives me crazy is the crazy menu screen. does anyone had it before? Still CTD when starting campaing or custom battle... :S
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
oh! i added the -nm thing, my crazy menu screen has been fixeD, but i still have CTD >.<
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
Seems you understood that I was talking about the shortcut in the end :beam:. Your folder structure doesn't seem to be an RTW installation, but it should be alright as the validation was successful.
* Please try to delete all map.rwm files, including the ones in the vanilla structure. There are likely three of them.
* Please try to move your RTW with EB into a structure without any spaces, such as C:\EB10 (so that you have C:\EB10\RomeTW.exe and C:\EB10\EB etc). You will have to change your shortcut to run from this location.
If nothing else works, the only thing left I can think if is pretty technical... Let me know which parts of this that are incomprehensible, as I'm sure it's not easy to understand for a computer illiterate.
Try to have FileMon monitor your RTW directory as you run the game. You can download FileMon here (it's safe, I promise). Remember to limit its scope to only the RTW directory and its subfolders with Options=>Filter/Highlight. Save the log, zip it and upload to a file hosting service like rapidshare.com, then post the link here so I can see what is happening at the point where it stops.
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
I changed the location of the folder as you asked, and i deleted all map.rwm files that existed in my computer. CTD are still with fullpower >.<
I'll send you the link of the log thing.
Bovi, Many thanks for you patience xD

Re: Problem with eb1.0
It complains about a lot of gloss maps right before quitting. Perhaps you could disable those somehow, in preferences.txt or the ingame options? I don't have time to check right now, but that could help.
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
Maping Gloss disabled at preferences, but nothing changed :S.
I see a lot of "PATH NOT FOUND" at the log text, very strange O.o
Waiting for orders, Bovi.
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
Could you run again and make a new Filemon log (please zip it this time, not essential but saves download time)? Possibly you've bypassed a gloss map problem but ran smack into another one, so I'd like to compare them. If it's the same now, I'll have to dig deeper in the log I think.
Also, could you post your system specs (CPU, RAM, graphics card etc)?

Re: Problem with eb1.0
Not the best rig around... EB1.0 is quite a bit bigger than 0.81aV2, RAM could be relevant but I don't really think so. Your graphics card is really low-level and might not support everything that RTW throws in its direction with the current preferences, so I think I'd like to keep attacking that.
I see it still reads the gloss map files, and I'm fairly sure it's not supposed to when you disable them. Are you sure you changed the right preferences file? There are at least three of them I think, try to change it in all of them. You should also check your 0.81aV2 installation and see if there are any differences between the preferences there and the ones in 1.0.

I went to options at the game's menu and decreased all the graphics to the minimal.
I changed the graphic of the units and buldings to low at preferences. But i still have CTD when i start campaing or custom.
I uninstalled the EB0.81aV2, are you sure i can install it again in another folder and it wont influence the 1.0?
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
Installing 0.81aV2 could affect the 1.0 installation, I'm not sure how that installer works. Better make a backup copy of the whole RTW folder before you do so. But before that, make a backup copy of all preferences.txt files and try these settings (paste it into all of them). It's got lower settings than what you posted, I think I've cut it down to the lowest possible settings at all.

Re: Problem with eb1.0
I changed all the three preference files that exists in my computer as you asked, but i still have the CTD when start campaing or custom battle.
Here is another log. Not so heavy as the others, so we should have canceled some errors, i hope.
http://rapidshare.com/files/71567783...rthLog.7z.html
And could you recomend me a good graphic card, if mine is not?
Thanks for your patience... We can do it >.<
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
I prefer ATI myself, as NVidias drivers have been unstable for me at many times. Upgrading your graphics card alone probably won't make much of a difference with performance, as your CPU and RAM is also lacking. As we've turned off all the bells and whistles, I don't think upgrading it will make EB work either.
Comparing against my own starting a campaign, your game quits after reading everything to do with diplomats and before reading anything concerning spies. I notice you still have spaces in your folder structure. Please try to rename the C:\Europa Barbarorum 1.0 folder to C:\EB10, if you didn't before. I don't expect it to work, but it can't harm to try.
Also, you should probably install 0.81aV2 again, and compare the preferences there (if it works, of course!) with what you have now. Try to copy the preferences from there too. At the very least we can eliminate that from the list of suspects.
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
I renamed it, now is C:\EB10
Another strange thing that hapens. I start the game and apears the screen with europa barbarorum, Total War, Creative Assembly, etc... But when the game starts loading, all the screen become Black and all i can see is the green bar growing at the lower part of the screen, loading. Then apears the menu screen. Then i start the campaing and all turns black again, and all i can see is the green bar. When the loading finishes, all turns back and the lovely CTD shows himself.
I can't install the 0.81aV2 again. When i open the instaler, it says that an error ocurred because a superios version of Europa Barbarorum is installed. But anyway, as you changed the preferences to the lowest possible, how could the 0.81aV2 preference make something?
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
You can use 7-zip to install it. You did similarly already with 1.0. I don't think the preferences file will help, but then we at least can eliminate that as a possible reason for the problems. And I want to know that 0.81aV2 works.
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
By the way, I see "Malik of Sindh" has got a graphics card in the same series as you (Geforce 5200), so that shouldn't be the issue.
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
I can't install 0.81aV2 even using 7-zip.
Right click on EB081aFinal.exe, 7-zip, open file, double click on EB081av2.msi
Is this the right way to install through 7-zip?
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
Simply extract all the files using 7-zip into a clean 1.5 RTW directory. You can delete the msi file afterwards or leave it be.
-
Re: Problem with eb1.0
Oh God... i didn't install 1.0 this way O.o ,
this is how i installed 1.0:Right click on EB10.exe, 7-zip, open file, double click on EB10.msi
Could this different installation cause the CTD that i'm experiencing?
I extracted all the 0.81aV2 files in a clean version of rome total war 1.5, but no icon appeared, and when i click Rome.exe starts the rome total war vanilla...
