Missing woman case, or missing porn star?
A girl has gone missing, possibly murdered... Or?
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/n...,4919146.story
The media doesn't seem to have any interest in the tragedy of this case, instead they focus on her nudie career. That might have been relevant if her occupation had something to do with her disappearance, but according to the cops, there is no link at all. So what we have here is simply the media selling sex once again, this time in a possible murder case. I find this revolting. Any thoughts?
Oh, and her web site: http://zoeyzane.com/
Don't worry, they've taken down the porn stuff and replaced it with a statement(a good one).

Doesn't come of as particulary sensationist

Re: Missing woman case, or missing porn star?
Update: She's not "missing" anymore - they've found her (dead) body, 50 miles east of the bar she was last seen leaving. Authorities seek the guy she left with, who, it's suspected, is making a run for the (Mexico) border.
And the "pr0n star" thing? Well, it sells news stories, I guess, as well as backroom topic titles.

And in the context of a murder case, doesn't that strike as a weee bit inappropriate?

So you see the reference to her part-time gig as disrespectful to the deceased and her survivors? Maybe.
The police say that the false leads coming from the 'net, where her pix were once displayed, are hindering their investigation - so that much inapprorpiateness I'd grant with no contest.
Don't get me wrong: I'm the first in line to decry the media's hunger for salacious copy to sell their stories. But in this case, her part-time career might be a relevant detail in pursuing the case/story.

No, it is pretty common occupations are mentioned. Most people will know her is the pornstar, see nothing wrong with it.

This:
EL DORADO, Kan. — Her fans knew her only as an Internet porn actress named Zoey Zane.
Is an appropriate way to start a story about a recent murder?
Of course her occupation can be mentioned, but I can't see how headlines like "Porn actress probably dead"(from db.no) are appropriate. It shows absolutely no respect for the dead and her family.
Another thing; If she wasn't a porn star, but had a "normal" job instead, would this be international news?
-
Re: Missing woman case, or missing porn star?
Playing in pornmovies is an honest occupation just like 'the barber' and 'the baker'. If she is internationally know as Zoey Zane then it is the pornstar Zoey Zane they found murdered, if anything she gets a human face imo.

Probably not, if she were a local cafe' waitress. But with the internet involved (whether it's porn, or gaming, or blogging, etc) it gets international quickly.

Oh well. Robert Earnshaw just scored the 2-1 goal against West Ham, so I'm happy...

Uhm, your Chicago Tribune link doesn't focus more on the porn thing than what reasonable is. It debunks the idea of her porn "career" being relevant to the murder, and does not mention porn in the title; merely 'double life'.

Fans could theoretically turn out helpful in this matter, who knows.

Yeah, I was reading Dagbladet, I just took the first link in english I could find on google :smash:
EDIT: The fox news story is a lot better, titled "Missing girl may have been porn star".

Never mind, I read that wrong. He's headed to Mexico, where he has relatives (the prime suspect, Israel Mireles).

Not all of our illegals are of different pigmentation. There are quite a few Irish in the Northeast who should be booted out as well. Granted, a majority of those illegally in our country are citizens of Mexico or one of the Central American nations.
However, it is a logical fallacy to assume racism from Dave's post. He may, or may not, be racist. A statement deploring illegal immigration is no more inherently racist than a statement of loathing for the state of Israel is inherently anti-semitic.

Actually I was waiting for HoreTore to answer it himself, but hey, why not.

Exactly! Calling someone a racist because they are against illegal immigration is themself a racist because they assume so. That's the irony. So DD I was answering for him.*
Thanks for the assist.:2thumbsup:
*Not that he isn't a cool guy though. Or that I'm trying to keep this thread alive because it has "porn" in the title.

Nah, a racist doesn't have to say racist stuff all the time... They can say something else from time to time... But where's this racism from? All I could hear was some coughing...

Re: Missing woman case, or missing porn star?
Hmm this is getting a bit off topic.
Now, in my capacity as a do gooder I aim to help the Police with their enquiries. I enclose a photofit of this girl, so you can contact the Police if you saw her in the company of disreputable looking "illegals".
