Faction Units
Hello all - just had a quick question about faction units - I'm playing as England and I've annihilated the Scots, the French the Danes, taken half of the Moorish provinces and almost all of the HRE provinces in my first campaign. Question is: do i ever get to recruit any units apart from the native British ones? can I ever access the Scottish pikes or the French cavalry? and for that matter can i ever access carracks to travel to the new world - i read somewhere that only Spanish and Portugese can build them.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Faction Units
In vanilla m2tw you can only recruit your faction's own units (and mercenaries, ofc ~D). You can recruit other faction's units only in Kingdoms, Britannia campaign.
You will be able to build carracs once you build a required level of Port, after the Word is Round event.

Re: Faction Units
so the English can travel to the New World? why did I read that only Spanish and Portugese could build the necessary ships? is that wrong?

Re: Faction Units
yes, it's wrong. you need to get the "world is round" event before you can build the port that lets you recruit the appropriate top end ships

Re: Faction Units
I think that every faction can build the ships able to sail to the New Word. The English definitely can.

Re: Faction Units
WOOHOO!
Thanks guys for that... Just a shame I need to stick to the crappy cavalry I've got...

Re: Faction Units
Knights templar/hospitallers are a way to add some more heavy cavalry to your roster.

Re: Faction Units
the option of raising some signature local troops regardles of faction, ie everyone being able to raise longbowmen in wales or almughavars in spain when they hold the region, like you could for some units in MTW would be cool.

Re: Faction Units
The Spanish and Portuguese have the best ship, Grande Carrack, which is better in combat, but I believe every faction is able to build regular Carracks which can cross the Atlantic.
