Re: BI.exe custom battles
The BI modfolder requires a generated map.rwm file in the base folder, which is the one it uses for CBs. It's the only file you need in there as far as a provincial setup is concerned. I think EB public forums have thorough threads on running EB through the BI and Alex exe - so best to look there.
Re: BI.exe custom battles
Nope, feel like i've been surfing the web for hours (which i have been..) and can't find a solution...it's odd becasue i have done it before but i re-installed the game and now the information is lost to me...:help:

Re: BI.exe custom battles
bit of a longshot, but who knows ...
you are now using;
"C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:data -show_err"
try using;
"C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod -show_err"
see if that works, as I play Rome under BI using these command lines and a custom map and can play custom battles just fine ..
(actually I use this when testing; "D:\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -nm -ne -show_err -mod ... pretty much always ...:D)

Re: BI.exe custom battles
Ah Thanks! Turns out that was the exact thread i had before, thank you my custom battles work perfectly. Someone should make a walkthrough of that for others looking how to enable custom battles...in my journey through the forums i witnessed many others having the same problem...
Re: BI.exe custom battles
TP as you've just done it could you write out exactly what is required in a reply? If you make it self contained I can add the single post to "Modding Answers" which would help anyone with similar problem, so they don't have to read through lots of threads with conflicting comments/discussion........

Adding Custom Battles to BI.exe
There's two ways you can run RTW through BI.exe, the more common way with a mod folder, or changing the shortcut line to read:
Quote:
"your install folder\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:data -nm -show_err
I used the latter method, so here is how to enable Custom Battles that way:
-Make sure the minimum your shortcut reads is:
Quote:
"your install folder\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:data
-Make a copy of:
Quote:
your install folder\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign
And rename one of the copies to barbarian_invasion, so it should look like:
Quote:
your install folder\data\world\maps\campaign\barbarian_invasion
(Both folders should be in data\world\maps\campaign)
-Make a copy of:
Quote:
your install folder\data\text\imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt
And rename one of the copies to barbarian_invasion_regions_and_settlement_names.txt
-Delete:
Quote:
your install folder\data\world\maps\base\map.rwm
Start up your game through your new shortcut and it should work :2thumbsup:
Also, this should work if you ARE using a mod folder, just make it so you are editing the folder you are using(Ex. instead of \data as described above, make these changes for \"your mod"\data)

Re: BI.exe custom battles
Thanks for doing that, sounds a lot simpler than it did trying to dig information out of the previous threads! Have added it to the Answers section in various categories....
