Military academy for Portugal - nice looking building?

Hi!

I playing as Portugal first time, and here is a question - is there a reason to build Military academy at all? What it give? From MP i know Portugal get gendarmes, but there is no gendarmes or other units in description. I built first level of academy, but didnt got new units. Any point to build second level?

Portugal gets no units from it.
You can get good traits for generals with it though.
Like AcademyTrained and the ordinance_master ancillary.

Have a general spend enough time in a city with an academy; there are two levels of traits you'll eventually get: Academy Trained (+1 command), replaced with Officer Training (+2 command). The ancillary is nice too.
