I keep getting a CTD after I finish fighting a battle. I get the same result on different campaigns. I've also installed the permanent fixes and am running RTW on Vista. Could this problem be due to a trait? Would the trait file nerf fix this? Thanks for the input.

Try it. If it doesn't work, please post your savegame. Also, some people have been saying that waiting for about 10 seconds before clicking the button to exit the battle makes it more stable. It can't harm.
Ok, I'll give the trait file nerf a try and wait a few seconds. I also have another observation however. After playing yesterday I think the second battle after loading a campaign is crashing. Was playing Romani and took Segesta with no problem. Then sieged and took Bononoia (sp?), the second battle since loading and CTDed.

That second-battle-crashing is a symptom of missing unit sprites. Can you say which units are taking place in the battle?
Have just started to see this as well after starting a Baktria campaign after playing sweboz.
Has happened 2-3 times.......last time in a clash with the ptolomeic
