Original Rome Start-Up Problem

I installed EB 1.0 on a clean version of Rome Gold Edition and now both my non-EB Rome and my Barbarian Invasion have both stopped working. As far as I am aware The Gold Edition Rome comes pre-patched to 1.5 so I don't see why it isn't working. I can start the game up but it will ctd even before getting to the Title screen. Any help at all would be appreciated, thanks.

Does EB work? Did Rome and BI work before you installed EB? EB 1.0 doesn't install any files in either the vanilla data folder or the BI data folder.
