Its your faction's symbol and is next to the kings.
It means that the character used to be a leader of your faction.Quote:

I see what you mean. It looks like that is just part of the portrait, as it is black/white like the rest of the picture.
I didn't even notice that, and yes its part of a normal portrait, in this case his helmet.
Part of the portrait? I have my reservation, I did a comparison with a similar portrait but there is no such icon...... perhaps his death is of an unnatural death but not amounting to assassination? ? ? Or perhaps the death is caused by illness?
It is part of his headgear. It looks like a mail hood underneath a cloth hood. The cloth hood does not cover his forehead the the mail shows through. He was the King, and the current King was the heir. Guy on far left died, guy on right became King, guy in between the two became heir.
Here are 6 heads which look similar to the one in question. From these you can tell it is some sort of a hat or helmet with symbols on it, I have crudely drawn the symbols next to the pictures. In the small pics it is hard to see the rightmost symbol but it is there on all of them.

Hahaha. I C, this is so funny. It is part of his apparels after all.
Anyway, side question, why didn't the dead king's son becomes the heir? Why the centre one?
