Adding Scythian and Rebel Amazons units to Julii

Hello all,

I am new to this froum. I have been a Rome Total War fan for years and I have played a lot of campagns. Now I want to get into modding. I am a total newbie regarding modding. I want to start with something simple. I want to add the female units of the amazons rebels and scythians as buildable units to the Julii faction. I want to link them to the temple of ceres as a requirement to be buildable in a settlement. I have no idea where to begin. Can someone help me? If possible I would also like to edit their skins by adding the preatorian guard shoulder pieces to make them look more 'roman'. Is it hard to change the unit colors to Jullii red? I'd appreciate any help I could get with this. Thanks.

The best place to look when you 1st start Modding is in the Sciptorium sub forum. It is full of excellant tutorials and guides.

Changing the unit textures to Julii red is a bit more advanced than just adding a unit to a faction.

Any trouble finding what you need just holler

Well. I did found something in the scriptorium. But its rather vaque. It only explains how to make a unit available to a faction but it doesn't say anything about building requirements or changing stats.

I was thinking of adding two units:
-amazon horse archers
-amazon cavalry

I was thinking of using the Scythian Noble women unit as template. I will not edit colors or skins because that requires the use of photoshop and 3dmax. I have no skills with either program so I am just skipping that part. For the amazon cavalry how easy would it be to replace the bows with a shield and spear?

Its easy enough to add units in.

using the Sycthian noble woman as templates you can easily make the amazon horse archers but you'd need a diferent model for the Amazon cavalry with spear and shield

Easy enough if I knew exactly which files to edit and what to edit in them. Was afraid of needing a new model to, so scrap that idea to lol.

This was an excellent guide. I followed it step by step and managed to make the scythian noble women unit available to the julii as the "Sythians Amazons" unit. I even improved one some of the coding used in the guide. It works perfectly. The unit is recruitable and the game didn't crash either.

I now want to take it one step further but I will someone's help who can make their own units. My skills in the area of skinning and modding are zero, I am afraid. I have some ideas on how to edit the noble women unit so there will be an archer and spear/shield version but I need someone's help to skin and model them. Perhaps someone with the experience here has some freetime to undertake this project. It would only involve swaps between parts of exisiting units and a recolor to match Julii red. If someone could help, I'd be very grateful.
