Bribed General mariage

Hello there, now it did not happen to me `till now, because i did not like to bribe generals, but in my recent Carthage campagne i bribed just for fun this man, and the next turn it happens .. I was under the impression that these cant have there own families. I wonder if he can have sons. This would be a great source of fun, for me at least.

For those whom dont know what they see in the picture, i use mundus magnus, whit a multi temple change ... the rest is vanilla.

Did this happen to anyone else ???

I've had Bribed Generals marry before, but never have children. Its a shame really - in the past I've had to bribe generals just to keep my family surviving and add another man to the family tree. When the "real" family died out I ended up a little stuck - a bunch of infertile men running a faction isn't a very good move.

Oh, thats not good .. i was hoping to bribe a roman and hopefully have kids whom would make a fine romano-carthaginian dynasty (hehe) ... At least they can adopt right ?

I newer had problems whit kids - mundus magnus -, as in all my roman campaigns i had at least 3 whom were of the original family. 1 is always a victor, the rest become builders, great governors - the multi temple helps a lot here -. If i recall correctly each region grants 2 kid slots for the family, + a temple of fertility helps to add an extra 2, 3 siblings.

I see..... I was wondering whether, if you bribe a barbarian dude as the Romans, his kids will be Romans or barbarian. Oh well.

I have another question regarding bribery: if one of your family gets bribed, what happens to his family portrait? What happens if you bribe him back?

It happened to me .. it gets a no picture in its place a black square, if you put your mouse pointer over it it shows the date when he betrayed you .. and if you manage to get him back he will be in one of the slots of any random general in your army - all generals have 4 slots as far as i know, so he can have 4 kids or adopted, respectively bribed generals -; there is no way he can take back his old place in the family tree as far as i know, and this happens a lot in BI specially whit the Western Roman Empire.

Eek, that's messy. So you can actually see stuff like a father 'adopted' by his own son and stuff like that? Also, if all generals can only have up to four children, and bribed generals are infertile, doesn't that mean that you can end up sterilizing your family tree by excessive bribery?

I`m not 100% sure on this, but it seems that bribed generals have a tendency to occupy the slots of older generals .. like my example meleagros is 35 and the adopter is over 40, but theoretically yes its possible to have all bribed generals thereby killing of your own faction...but i`m not sure if they can`t adopt ... let`s say i have just 1 region 3 generals .. normally this means no slots for kids, but they grow old and die, luckily not at the same time, so there`s a chance to have an adoptee - one of my Julii couples male 59 female 49 had kids -.

Well, I've had one instance where a 30-year-old traitor is adopted by a 17-year-old. It was..... odd, to say the least.

I prefer to consider that more "patronage" rather than an actual adoption. It makes it sound a little more ethically acceptable than a seventeen year old having a fifty year old son for example.

I've had adopted generals marry and produce children,back in the day when I only played vanilla Rome...

My bribed generals also got married and got children ..
Playng the julii I bribed a spanish family member .. he was 17 or so and few years later he got married and had a son soon after that .. but the children had a roman names and not barbarian like there father's name .. also .. all his sons( he had 3 of them) had diffrent familie names so there was times where I thought that his wife is not very fauthful to him :dizzy2:
Anyway .. I think if the bribed general is young enough then he will have kids ..

I do believe that bribed generals did have children in older patch versions (v1.2/v1.1 and below). It was a bug/feature introduced in patch 1.3 or 1.2 which prevented their wives from ending up pregnant.

I have Rome Total War: Gold Edition .. So I do not know anything about previous patches ~:(

Hold on, isn't Gold Edition v1.5? I wouldn't know, my RTW came bundled with the original release of BI (v1.4).

So bribed generals can reproduce in v1.5 after all! Yes..... I'll see if I can get a bunch of barbarians to become consuls and paterfamilias. :laugh4: That'd be a sight.

Gah! I take back what I said - bribed generals can seem to have some children, but it's moderately rare. I actually said that myself a while back in response to somebody else's queries. Sorry - I've had a little bit too much on my mind recently. ~:(

Actually you can't .. if the bribed barbarian generals children come at age they will have roman portrays and roman names ~:(

About that barbarians becoming consuls .. I had a carthaginian general Theages the Mad who was aedile once ...

But just like I sayd .. bribed generals can have kids only if they are young .. never seen a bribed general over 30 to have a kid ...
Also .. there must be a lot of provinces and not that many generals and do not adopt anyone because they will be adopted by the bribed general ~:(

thanx for all the info .. to bad you cant have the children keep the bribed name, it would have been nice to see Egypt run by a roman, or a roman house by any other than roman, i wonder if the same is true for roman bribing roman ? - after civil war bribing a young 17,18 year old form the other house -

No one has mentioned it, but his overview map in bottom left hand corner in the picture has the actual names of the areas (In the picture it says Thracia, Hispania). He must be using a mod or something. But I like it.

From what I have gathered in the past, I believe it is the Mundus Magnus map. This map was a clone of the map manufactured in the early stages of Europa Barbarorum's development (0.7.x for R:TW v1.2), although is still pretty much the same as the current map since very little has changed since then.

Although it was origionally designed for v1.2, and the official released will only work on it, other modders have ported it to R:TW v1.3/v1.5 and, later, BI v1.6.

You can download the R:TW v1.3/1.5 version here and the BI v1.6 version here. The latter version is a .rar file, so will require a program such as 7-zip to be extracted.

Units vanilla, the game more or less vanilla : 3 romans + senate + senate missions, civil war , all factions playable
Changes:
- provincial campagne mundus magnus
- multi temple mod meaning 1 temple can be pantheon (for those factions whom were able to build there ) + 5 others level 2 ( the map is large and i like to have more temples as they worshiped more than one god )
- player1 bug fixer
- changed rebel spawn rate to double
- campagne runs for 500 years
- traits ant ancillaries are harder to get bot positive and negative ones * if it was 2 now is 4 *
- changed events file to be displayed - volcano erupts as in imperial campagne, plagues etc

P.S. : home made "mod" from different sources : player1, and sorry don`t remember whom made the multi temple file, i got mundus magnus from Omanes Alexandrapolites

If could get permission to use these i would upload it if u`r interested Good Ship Chuckle

I just think I ought to make you aware that I did not design or participate in the creation of the Mundus Magnus map. It's mainly the work of Dead Moroz and has been upgraded for compatibility with BI and R:TW v1.3/1.5 by a variety of people over time.

Yes this is true, I just wanted to say thank you, as it was you kind Sir, Omanes Alexandrapolites, whom provided me whit a download link for these files as i was not able to find them. Of course there is the possibility i`m confusing you whit someone else, in that case i offer my apologies.

Thats happened to me many times.
In fact once I had a greek general with 600 men. in one turn using excelent tactics he defeated two roman armys of 850 men each. Then a pop-up box came up saying the man of the hour and the captain of the army was offerd for adoption and then when i said yes he became part of my family and a General.
