Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Igno I told you IC that Venice is much stronger and that attacking them would prove disastrous for you. Anyway how did you take that African settlement, do you have siege weapons? The Trebuchet probably did not destroy the wall fully. If even a tiny bit of rubble remains, it still counts as a wall. You have to hear the announcer say that you've breach the enemy's walls for the siege weapon to become irrelevant.
That fort is full of quality troops though, you'd have to have unparalleled skill in leading spear militia to victory over them. The GB unit and the Sicillo-Norman knights alone can probably kill 2000 spear militia.. Such is the way of SS.

Fatimid's Turn
Took two cities of Norway, which means Norway is no more. Attacked rebels outside of Turku and took control over Finland. Also declared war on France and took Metz. Another wave of landgrabbin'! :)

If led by a player yes, but with the ai leading them spear militia can deal with anything except GB fairly well. And european GB are no where near the monsters that the eastern ones are.

Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Not when he's assaulting a stone fort though. And the GBs/SNKs are tough cookies even if they are not Scholarii and Roman BGs.

Myth: (No hard feelings but for record here is the PM)
"Respected Chancellor of Genoa,
we are surprised by your decision to wage war on Venecia. Truly, their armies are formidable and their republic stretches from Hamburg to Durazzo. Genoa is small, and you would be hard pressed to win against them. We also knew of the Mooris-Egyptian alliance, and yet the Moors went to war with France on your grace's behalf. The Egyptians are preoccupied with conquering Roman territories, as are we to be honest, as the more territories we take, that much less will be left for the Muslims.
Sicilly will need some time to think, as undoubtedly blood will need to be spilled. Let us know of your plan so that we may judge correctly."
No, it did destroy the wall, as the breech was promptly occupied by enemy spearmen and I did hear the voiceover. I probably wouldn't have won, but I didn't realise until I started fighting the battle that in SS fort are stone. Otherwise, I might have done otherwise.
That stack in Africa had a catapult in it. That's why I left it there - in case this happened.

Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
You know, you can share that IC if you want. I figure that diplomatic pms should be fair game in the diplomacy rome. Although others may become hesitant to inform you of their plans in secret.
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
I think it fairly obvious I meant to deter you from attacking. BTW when siege assaulting, target the gate, as it's 2 times weaker than the walls at lest. I don't remember seeing a catapult in the African stack but I probably missed it.
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
I tried that with my first assault on Milan - and I ran out of ammunition. Getting the trebuchet rocks to actually hit the gates and not the gatehouse is quite a challenge.
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Yeah, when you only have the one treb you need a bit of luck to knock out two gatehouses. One will go down 90% of the time though. When I have one treb I usually autocalc.

Also, the fellow in the dress and pointy hat in Rome sure likes France at the moment.

Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Do we have player for Kwarezm?
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Nope. Could someone please skip them? The pw should be clear.
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Took care of this. And suprisingly, Swabia turn appeared! :)
Slysnake is already informed about that.
EDIT: Btw, next time slysnake will skip Kwaz turn when we still haven't found player for them. Or we could just make them to AI...

We're going to leave them human and just skip them as discussed here
So it'd be great if either Nigel or slysnake could do that each turn. Thanks guys!

Wow. this came up fast. Sorry, I read the PM at work and forgot I was up. I'll do this tonight.

Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Since I couldn't wait on the Dodge's decision I took Piza and Genoa this turn. One of the two Genoese fleets has been sunk, the one with the army barely survived but can't move next turn. A Roman halfstack destroyed in the East.
Genoa up, though they are living on fumes.

C'mon guys, I gotta have to go tomorrow. Should be able to do my turn tomorrow morning, so please... Ignoramus has gone missing again, shouldn't we skip his turn now?

Hmm, it seems that @phonicsmonkey has been forced to go on vacation.
