Yes, you do need to ask for permission before you can move a garrison anywhere, and that should be done in the Council. This thread is OOC and just here for us, the players, to chat. Nothing said in here can be used in-game.

Edit 2: Might as well make this post useful and ask that everyone keep their SOT post updated. For example, I almost moved Timarchos (00jebus) to Antiocheia before I realized that the order might be a little outdated.

sorry for hogging the save file (if anyone needs it) but I'm currently awaiting confirmation on whether I could use a unit from a nearby garrison (which according to I-K's reply seems to be 'yes'). Also, I tried to fight the battle if I was allowed to do what I requested in the council and got a Heroic Victory and Man of the Hour.

You can't hog the save that long. If anyone needs to do anything they should just go ahead and take the one you took, because the game needs to move on and others shouldn't miss out one turn because someone else held it indefinitely. That means that whatever you've done would be undone. Your request to hire mercenaries will likely be denied anyway (it definitely will if I have a say in it): we just don't have the money for that.

I apologize if I sound like a bad guy here, because I really don't mean to be rude or anything, just trying point out how things are.

oh I'm sorry, (and it seems that nobody has been here for the past 4 hours).
and I didn't insist on hiring mercenaries, it was an alternative. if I could be granted access to the thanvare payahdag nearby I would upload the new save immediately (or rather post the link because I already uploaded; because I already made the moves and await confirmation)

and when borrowing garrison units is the Basileus the only person who can give permission? or can the chancellor do so as well?

Beside Basileus Satraps are the only ones who you can ask to borrow a unit. Chancellor have nothing to do with units unless he is asked specifically to move or recruit a unit.

Sorry no, your first question is correct. All units not belonging to any satrapy or my Royal Army belongs to the Basileus. Only he can give out the permission. If the units are a part of a satrapy, then only the satrap there can give it - but that's not the case here. :shame:

A quick question for anyone with a knowledge of Greek better than mine, which is probably anyone here. One of the new RBGs is called Antigonos Megas, does that mean Antoginos Great or can Megas mean different thing?

I just found out about the MoTH. I accept, so whoever has the save next can approve.

AFAIK "Megas" is simply just that, "Great" or "the Great", but I'm of course no expert. It is an awesome name, definitely.

This seems very interesting. I read through the rules and all, but I have one question.

How does the actual process for doing things with the savegame work? From what I've been able to gather, the elected Chancellor uploads a savegame and the players download it, but what then? Does everyone have to upload their moves seperately, or do they write them out in the Status and Orders thread, or what? :dizzy2:

When they downloaded the save game, they do what they want (and have authority to do), saves the game and uploads it. The next guy then takes that save, does his stuff, saves and uploads. So it goes on until the Chancellor takes it, does his things and ends the turn. He then uploads a new save and the game goes on.

So to clarify it: Lets imagine this game only with three players, TCV, IK and CP. TCV is the Chancellor. The names are completely made up, and does not refer to any real person.

Phase 1: TCV uploads a save.
Phase 2: CP downloads the save and notifies everyone that he has it. He makes his character walk from Sardis to Ipsos, and then he's done.
Phase 3: CP saves the game and uploads it in the thread.
Phase 4: IK downloads the save CP uploaded and notifies everyone that he has it. He fights against an enemy stack and loses horribly, killing 4 enemies and losing 2000 men. He's done.
Phase 5: Cursing and swearing to personally execute every god anyone has everbelieved in, he saves the game and uploads it in the thread.
Phase 6: TCV takes the save and notifies everyone he has it. He changes the taxes, trains up a new army for Ib.. er, IK to waste, and is done.
Phase 7: TCV ends the turn, saves and writes a report on what he's done and what has happened in and around the Arche this turn. He uploads the save.

Then it's back to phase 2.

Or to use a metaphor:

TCV writes his name on a paper, and then leaves it out for others to do the same. CP gets to it first, and writes his name on it, then puts it back where he took it. IK who is the slowest gets to it the last, and then writes his name on it before putting it back. TCV takes back the paper, takes a new one and does it all over again.

If I may make a suggestion, perhaps you could edit your first post in the Signup Thread to show all the available avatars? There seems to be an early batch posted by MerlinusCDXX of which most weren't taken, and then more recently, some posted by The Celtic Viking. Would make it alot easier for new people if the first post in the thread had the available ones listed rather than having an ad-hoc system with people trying to guess which are still available. :book:

God damn it CP, I have already explained to you that agnostic is not an alternative to theist/atheist. It's a binary choice, so if you don't believe in a god you're an atheist, even if you don't have the intellectual balls to admit it. :no:

Theism/atheism is about belief. If you're a theist, you hold belief in at least one god, and if you're an atheist, you don't hold belief in any god.

Gnosticism/agnosticism is about knowledge. If you're a gnostic you claim to know, if you're agnostic, you don't claim to know. To simplify it for you...

Gnostic Theist says: I know god/s exist, and this necessitates belief in him/her/it/them.
Agnostic Theist says: I don't know if any god exist, but I believe in one or more anyway.

Personally, I am an agnostic atheist in theory, and a gnostic atheist in practice. (That is I don't claim to be able to prove there is no god, since I recognize that it's impossible to prove the non-existence of anything, but I live my life exactly as I would if I knew for 100% that there was no god. I would, however, become a theist if someone offered proof for any god.)

i did not have a look at it yet, but maybe you could move 2-3 units of phalangitai ofer the bridge to cover the advancing?

Perhaps their on the other side saying "YOUR TURN!" :laugh4:

I find using archers can sometimes get them to move, set your archers on the bridge and fire at them withdrawing as soon as the enemy comes at you. Sometimes you have to run back and forward a lot but it usually works in the end.

Well, I won my first Heroic Victory. Battle Reports will be posted tomorrow I guess.

my character seems very unfortunate again, he has stumbled into another group of brigands :furious3: somewhere in kappadokia, it might take a while again, or I 'll just take the save later once I-K allows me to use a garrison (again).

edit: perhaps I shall just fight the battle and return the unit immediately afterwards (since the pantodapoi I used still has enough movement points to make it back to Mazaka)

how many enemies are there? you can do a lot with your somatophylakes alone

There is a small problem. I got CTD after those battles. I sent TCV a PM and let's see what will happen.
I hope that this is the first and the last CTD we have in this game.

Today I had to give up my AAR because of a CTD and I don't want to lose this game because of a CTD(though I think this is not that serious).

It didn't CTD for me, so as soon as my report is finished the new save will be up.

My character got that trait pretty early on, I had planned to expand upon it but my AARs have meant I can only take part in WoTB in a minor role (using Steam only allows one EB build:thumbsdown:).

Otherwise you can always just edit your SOT, I always check it before ending turns.

So, if you have some legislations to propose and you are sure that you can get enough seconds then you can use this time for that.
