I agree - specifically, I think we should know roughly who is in which House before the Council starts. Also, the tournament will probably distract players in real life from the Council debates, so it would be best to conclude that first.
I've noticed weekends are a little quiet in the forum, so we may want to end up postponing the Council till next Monday, unless we can conclude the tournament in time to start by Thursday at the latest.
weird...
I made myself a simple coat of arms and placed it in my sig but it doesn't show up in this subforum. However, it shows up in my signature in every other subforum:inquisitive:
edit: and now it does
Hmmm, I had been planning to have the tournament and first Council run at the same time, but I can delay the latter if people prefer. Maybe I can make a tavern type thread in addition to the upcoming tournament thread so people can interact IC...
I think the rules are in their final form. I had been planning on keeping the duel and tourney rules (which TheFlax and Econ are working on) separate from the main rules, mostly to avoid clutter and make them more flexible (i.e. Econ could change them quickly if major problems arise). Any thoughts?
I'd prefer to have the Tournament first and then have the Council Session. As one would distract from the other and also create weird inconsistencies were you are friends with one noble who will actually become your worst enemy through actions in the Tournament or something along those lines.
Tavern thread! Maybe make it adjoining the tournament field? The rules seem final to me, I'm content that they balance the random factor with some accounting of skill, and if there are major bugs or imbalances a runthrough like this tournament should shake them out without anyone's life being on the line.
I have a suggestion in regards to the first round byes as well, I would suggest that we allow the 8 oldest characters a bye. We could go by rank as well, but at anywhere from 22-24 man tournaments we don't have enough ranked characters to take all the bye space. I suppose we could go by rank and then by age.
Alternately we could simply have the King declare who gets a bye and who doesn't by fiat.

What if we had a combined tavern/tourney thread? I'm assuming that when there aren't duels or tourneys, a stand alone thread would be quiet.
The hippodrome served as something of this in LotR.
Not a huge deal either way, but it's just one less thread for me to link to in the history. :beam:
I love the idea of having a tavern next to a tournement field.

Hey guys,
I'm currently leeching internet access off a neighbor at one bar (), so I'm not sure how long I'll be on. Enjoying my vacation so far. Anything pressing, especially Aquitaine-related, that I should know?
How about some sort of Fairgrounds? There's a tavern, merchants selling their wares, knights jousting, troubadours, revellers, etc? It would be a very medieval rendering of the ancient Roman forums and hippodromes. Of course it is a bit stretching historically speaking, but for the purposes of the game it would fit nicely.
Nothing comes to mind. Once the character selection wraps up we will be proceeding, most likely, to a tourney and then the first meeting of the council.
Also Acquitaine seems to be developing a reputation, earned or not, as a Dread House (ie Blood for the Blood God and such).
Nah, I should be good.
Frankly, I'm thinking of having Raynaud sit out the tournament for personal reasons anyway.
Running the tournament and Council session at the same time is not recommended.
That would be a hard thing to do.
Sorry econ about my full inbox. It has some space now.
(Hopefully this doesn't become standard for me).
I agree with the others, Tournament first, then Council Session.
I'll be leaving to countryside tomorrow and probably won't be able to post anything for a week.
Have fun!
AG pointed out in another thread that GH have turned green!
So, congratulations GeneralHankerchief! :balloon2:
Yes it looks like GH has gone to the dark side.
He's sold his soul for POWER!!!!
Congratulations, GH! :balloon2:
Yes, congrats Gh  ...now, someone throw up the Tourney thread! Lets get this rolling!
