"We have successfully broken the backs of the pretended heirs to the throne of Philppos. Their king lies dead from Roman steel and their military is scattered and weak. On our doorstep lies their capitol of Ambrakia, the homeland and symbolic embodiment of all that is Eperiote. There is no doubt that the enemy will fight fiercely to protect this land from our hands - that much is unquestionable.
No we haven't. We defeated them in Illyria, a foreign land to them. Their king lies dead, yes. Well, amazingly, they have a new king! Isn't that incredible! Their military is certainly not scattered and weak. Take a look at any of Caivs Avrelivs' recent reports, and you'll see they harbour a great many number in Ambrakia, Makedonia and Byzantion.

Because the Legio II Latium is stretched so thin as it stands now, and its men are beaten and bloodied, and in need of refitting and resupply, I suggest, again, that any invasion of Eperios and the capitol city be held off until appropriate reinforcements can be sent. By that time the men will be rested, an extra defense force can be sent if needed, and perhaps even, hopefully if the gods are kind, Caius Aurelius Cotta will be relieved of command, allowing his Legati to earn experience and perhaps bring some honor back to the Legio as a whole, rather than to one glorified misfit commander.
Again, these are all lies; not even the faintest of truths or twists. The Legion is not stretched thin, its men have not seen combat for many weeks, so they are hardly beaten and bloodied. They are adequetly supplied and have al the equipment necessary. There are no need for reinforcments, as reinforcments have only just been sent to all the legions in the field. And as for the replacement of the commander, I see absolutely no other reason for this than your own jealousy. Perhaps you should ask the legionarries under his command, the ones you have out of the blue claimed have no honour and apparantly hate and fear their commander, for their own opinion, rather than making one for them to suit yourself.
