In VH battle mode, the AI get +7 to the stats. Is VH +stats hardcoded? If they are, VH battle mode will be fundamentally changed along with experience bonus. If not, is EB team planning to change the AI combat bonus as well?

They are hardcoded. The recommended difficulty for EB is VH for the campaign, M for battles.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Well, well, well. Once you finished downloading 1.0 you will see that you have all the unit cards right there, under documentation (you will also find out that that other thread was mostly bull, but hey, you knew that already, right? ~;)).
Anyway, before the shouting and the screaming starts, here is the deal.
Use the Card Backs first!
Why?
Well, they have the proper unit names (and are also sorted by culture). Then when you find your favourite unit, note the 3 digit number at the end of the name. That is the EDU unit ID. The card fronts are listed by that number only. (There is a very sexy reason for me doing that, but I cannot reveal that at this stage or the :smash: and :whip: will start again!).
Alternatively you can just browse the Card Fronts and see what you get ~;)
Enjoy,
Arka

Question: What does the P, E, N and R on nomadic factions' units mean? What sort of reforms are they referring to, if any?

There should be a readme.jpg in the folder.
Anyway it stands for Pastoralism, Nomadism, Elite Herds or Reformed (Pahlava only)

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
hmm, there are too many jpg files in there. *boggle* probably missed it. But thanks anyway!
-
Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Wouldn't it be better to have the card fronts split into folders like the card backs are? I bet everyone will be splitting them into folders anyway, since there are so damn many.
-
Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
No because of something we haven't previewed yet.
-
Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
To find the Readme JPG file; scroll down to the bottom of the folder. There you will find it. ~;)

You're still teasing us, even after 1.0 is released.

It's just a hassle to have to split them into folders manually. Because the way they are right when you install they are impossible to use (you'll have to dig for a loooong time to find that one unit you wanted info about).
Of course, there is the option of just printing them all out. So if you think it will be too much work to split them into folders now and then, once the upcoming feature (be it in-game access to the unit cards or whatever) is launched, merge them back together, I guess we can live with it.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Erm, Arka, are you sure that the card back of the Keltohellenikoi Hoplitai is right? It says that you can recruit them in South greece while you are playing any of the factions that are capable to build them. I really doubt that the Seleucids would have been able to recruit Celtic units in Athens...
Edit: Or does it have something to do with the fact that some of the faction signs on the card-backs are greyed out?
-
Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
The card for hypaspistai (157) says they are recruitable only by Makedon and AS, but people are telling me that Epeiros now get them too.
Likewise, the card for pheraspidai (171) says they are recruitable only by Makedon, AS and Baktria, but Epeiros should also be getting them now.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Wow. Good job. I was kinda disappointed at some units tough. Anyone felt that way? I mean it appears to have some incoherences in some units (for instance units with similar load outs have diferent armor values or units better equiped having less armor than others less equiped) HAs anyone felt that way?
Cheers...

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Yeah, I've noticed some inconsistencies
Pontus Elite Infantry have less attack and defence than Hellenic Spear Men despite the Elites being the next level up of the unit, plus the elites are cheaper despite being at the edge of the build tree.

They have little morale for an elite, 12 I think. 1 less than petzetariroi

You haven't quite read what Arkatreides wrote about the reasoning why. Ok. Let me guide you then once more:
-First you go to the folder called "Card Backs";
-Then you go to your desired Culture folder, say Hellenic;
-There you'll find the card backs sorted by name; accompanied by a number in their file name;
-That number is corresponds with both the number of the card in "Card Fronts" and in the "EDU".
Simple, innit?

Then again: they are called Thorakitai. While this may be an elite infantry unit for Pontos; most of the Hellenic factions would call it plain heavy infantry. Oh, and I must say those guys are still quite lethal: a rate of 0.1 means you'd rather not have those guys crashing into your flanks.

Not really, not compared to the way he made them before :sweatdrop:
But I can wait until you release the tool for it. Or whatever it is you have in the works. (then again, I almost can't wait because I smell something really nifty coming :jumping: )

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
My computer blew up the day EB1.0 was released (now isn't THAT irony) so I cannot really answer those queries. I am pretty sure the Keltohellenikoi are correct though. They have two recruitment regions, one for Celts and one for the Hellenes. Only in the Green regions do those overlap.
-
Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
And, Arka, how's your computer doing now? Because there are some unit cards missing, for instance the Mada Asabara or Thraikioi Prodromoi. But no need to hurry:yes:
-
Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Arkatreides, I just want to say again what a wonderful resource your cards are! I'm about to start a 1.0 Romani campaign and am starting off by printing all your Roman cards. :2thumbsup:

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Econ21, how exactly do you print them? I ask this because I can't imagine how one is not ofrced to waste a whole paper on one card, so perhaps you could help me.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
The cards are really nice, thx for them!

I followed the example in the first post and put 9 of them together in one A4 landscape size jpg. To do this, I just used Paint to cut and paste one onto another (setting the attributes to 37cm and 27cm).
The most time consuming part was trawling through all the jpgs and making a note of the numbers for the Romani ones.
Here they are:
Camillan
Polybian
Marian
Imperial
At some stage, I may do other factions, but if someone playing those factions wants to upload 3x3 jpgs of them, that would be cool.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Econ21, awesome work you did there. It is definately saving a lot of trouble and work for others:yes: It would be very cool if you also do this for the other factions, but I'm demanding too much from someone who already did a lot of work voluntarily:2thumbsup:

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Awesome cards, Arkatreides! I think I found a small typo, though. For the Equites Thracum, there's an unnecessary comma after "both". It's the last line of the description.

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
I bought a new computer and will check out the errors etc. in the next few days. Just give me some time to install all my software.

The Roman vigiles are marked as Marian era only. According to MarcusAureliusAntoninus, they should be available in the Imperial era too. EDU number 253 btw.
Yep, no rest for the wicked (and believe me, your work is wicked :2thumbsup: )

Re: Trading card style unit cards for offline use
Hi guys ... Are there any rules in plan for the cards to use them as playing cards like magic the gathering?
