Quick , can someone help me PLEASE , i made a new install of mtw and added viking invasion to it and i installed the 2.01 patch and installed the ntw b103 and then the b107 but when i play it gives me the options to play as the normal mtw factions and on the normal map (not sure if its meant to do this?) and all the units are old mtw units and when i got into the battle the arches were like ntw soldiers but only the top halves(no legs) and they fired arrows , and the peasents were the same except they did the normal peasent type attack, what have i done wrong?? please help ,

Ok on the campaign map, you have to go down to the bottom and it will have Naplk period, the Napoleonic 101, and then Napole107. For the advanced new mod, chose 107, and your good to go. If not consult LOS.

ok, i got it (a friend had the 1.07 update and I downloaded 1.03 off the org). But there is a problem.
when i start the game i get an error message:
column_building_unit_capacity
too many data columns found in parsefile...
and the game crashes.
I tried the mod both with and without the VI 2.01 patch and each time i got the same message. I installed a fresh copy of MTW each time, then VI, then 1.03 then 1.07. Can someone help me?
Ok so you installed a fresh copy of MTW + VI, then you added the nap mod, version 100or101-107, or the package that includes it all which is 45megs. you may have to cut all contents of the mod and past it in the main directory of MTW+VI, you stili need the patch for VI, but it still works without it, unless you play MP. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...cons/smile.gif

ok, kind of a funny thing, the "1.07" that my friend downloaded was actually version 1.7 of the napoleonic units that you made just for custom battles a while back, and that was the problem.

Negetive on that, your forgetting stat changes due to training and that some units have rifles...,Morale diffs eh?
Many possible stat differences, just as with Cavalry there are different sizes of horses, different levels of morale, etc.
Napoleonic Period may seem fairly all the same, but just as all infantry had bayonettes, less than 5% of battlefield casuallties were caused by same (from one source I've read); Melee victory=morale
Some quote I saw once from Napolean hisownself went something like:
"Morale is to numbers, as 5 is to 1"

Basically, DemonArchangel, When the unit-stats get fully built into the mod, the differnce between differnt factions troops will be easy to see.
Personally, I'd like to see changes to the stats by period, as the armies of '01 are in most cases not the same as those of the armies of '15, eh?

I'm fairly new to modding, but would it be possible to change the years into months or even weeks? It'd be awful if this was hardcoded, as this is central to my ideas.

Well it is true Infantry units have Muskets, but let us not forget the Cavalry units as well, my suggestion to you mate is to try the game and find out for yourself, it is what you as a player bring to the game that also adds variety to gameplay , strategy is key, be it a custom battle, and SP Campaign or even an Online MP battle, which if you like the Napoleonic period and the Strategy in weilding large armies on the feild then you must experience NTW for yourself,Quote:

*Prussia is getting stuffed up by Poland (??). Isn't that wrong? I suggest giving Prussia Silesia, and rename Franconia to Saxony.
*The Ottoman do really bad, every time. The Russians beat them with two hands tied to their backs, because the Ottomans always fall into a big rebellion, and can't handle the many and powerful Russian troops. That's of course quite historical accurate, but it does make the Russians unreasonable powerful... May want to tweak a bit here. (more influence to the sultan, less different religions, more armies on the borders...)
*Swedes stand no chance against the Danes/Russians. The faction usually ends in 3 turns... I suggest giving them more troops or at least some sort of advantage above the Danes.
*I don't have a clue why I would want to train Dutch/Brunswick lines, if I can build the high morale/cheap english units? I suggest making the Dutch dirt cheap but very low morale, and the Brunswick more disciplined or something. And please restrict German units to Germany Same for the Dutch troops.
Following that, you may want to (just like in Medmod) have every province a valour bonus. It makes the game very fun Also some more restricticted locations for troops might be useful; for the Dutch, German (brunswick, EGL), Polish Hussars, etc.
*Something that's probably more about my own taste; the abundance of very far upgraded provinces. I like upgrading them specialised, and having to choose because of little money. But I guess thats a personal preference.

*And last but certainly not least, please, very please, make a unit type manual. It's VERY confusing to make out whatever the difference is between units, for example the light variations, or all the different line units, etc. etc... It would be very appreciated

But, after i played a few years i noticed that if it wasnt for the fact that im sooo good on the battle field, sweden would be crushed in like 2 or 3 turns. So i started as english and yes, the swedes was gone in 3 turns. (Well ok, the had finland but no chance to hold the big bear of).
I really love the new swedish units even tho they tend to never be able to mach any other countrys units.
How about giving them a stats bost or increase the income in sweden to give em a chance?
The best thing wouyld be a new startmap... heeh, no chance for that i know, but the best would have been to split sweden in to 3 regions.

Please bear in mind that the latest release of the mod was somewhat rushed in order to get it out before xmas, which accounts for many (though not all) of your concerns with the mod.

Well i must say that this mod just gets better and better, i am having a ball with it. However i have a question which might be more of a tech question. I noticed a marcked slow down on my machine when the artillery fires. I have not had the problem before and to be honest it is the first time in any game it has happened. I will post my spec after this but i know all the tweaks from prevoius posts and i am pretty good at getting the right stuff out off my pc. I am unsure about the agp slider and the pyrotechnic sliders in the game options...can any one advise me in regards to these two sliders. Or any other tricks that i may be aware off.

She has numerous tweaks but is not overclocked, i have good airflow and she runs nice and cool. Any suggestions are welcomed.
This has happened to me and others I am sure, you can reduse the effect by lowering the Pyrotechnics slider, and for most the AGP slider works well at around 8, also look in the Apothecary forum theres a post I did awhile back on optimising your settings for Nvidia Video cards...LOS

You probably have enough ideas for swedish units and so on but i found some i didnt see in the game:
1756 and 1765 the Södermanland Infanrty Regiment is mentioned.
1762 they mention the Hussar of the Yellow Regiment.
1807 they mention the Queen's Leibregiment (life guards?) and Leibkürassier Regiment.
Just wanted to meantion theese, myabe give you some ideas...

I did know of these regiments. theyre not included as we're trying to not include units of individual regiment names. With the swede units i tried to make it accurate to the type of units they had ie split between indelta and varvade units. but as it is now you will more than likely loose most of the swedish units for the nesxt release. sorry http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...s/confused.gifQuote:

As everybody knows, between 1714 and 1837 England and the rest of the Empire was only an insignificant appendage of the mighty electorate of Hanover. Because I live in Han(n)over I obviously first have to play the English. Great fun till now.
It would last too long and be boaring to tell about the good things so lets speak about the few critical things.

What I don't like is some behaviour of the artillery. I think in the Napoleonic time it would not have been possible to harness the horses to the cannons and successfully flee a cavalry charge at full speed. Artillery should move much slower.
2.
Could You tell something about the files in which the unit-abilities are defined? Then everybody could learn about his troops and perhaps change something as in the good old crusader-unit-prod at MTW.
I like to have a lot of different units so I totally advocate that there are various troops. But I am wondering wether I should recruit EnglishLineInfantry or Brunswick or Dutch. Are there differences? It could not only be the colour of the uniforms. I would like to see it in the files.

I prefer regional recruitment. Why should the English be able to recruit Longbowmen (or Brunswick Troops) in Egypt? I changed a lot in the crusader-unit-prod in MTW and would like to do the same in NTW. Is it possible?
4.
There seem to exist some differences in the speed of firing between some units. This is totally right because it depends on the drill and experience of the troops. I may be wrong but I get the feeling that the Black Watch is such a fast firing unit. (I like it).
The Prussian troops in the Napoleonic time were far from the quality they have had in the time of Friedrich II. But as the Mod starts 1750 the Prussians should fire faster than every unit in the game because in reality they did so. Perhaps there are some special fast firing Prussian units I wasn't yet able to recruit.
Don't get me wrong, altogether the Mod is marvellous. The only problem for me is that recently I have also installed the HTW-Mod so I'll have to share time between both.

Of course Sweden -because it's such a lovely country- will get every chance possible But till now Sweden was conquered everytime by the Danish, so all was in vain.

As someone who was sorely disappointed by CA's decision to model their next game on Rome rather than the Napoleonic era, I wanted to extend my sincerely thanks to the Lordz for their tireless efforts in putting out this amazingly promising Napoleon mod for Medieval. I re-installed MTW last week so that I could check this out and was astounded by the polished state of the mod. I have some quibbles but I see from reading this thread that the Lordz are already on the case.
Having the Napoleonic mod is the next best thing to having Rome: Total War come out next month. That's about the highest praise I can offer http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif
Dunnichen, the only units that fire slower than standard line infantry are Greenjackets and Jaegers, because they used Rifles rather than muskets. Any quick or slow firing you see from other units must be your eyes http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wink.gif

The normal early/high/laten campaign are still available in the campaign menu. So, did you select the napoleon campaign?

i had no option to select other campaign...only viking, early, mid, late...same as usual...did i do something wrong? i saw an earlier post that said to install as normal, install viking, and then add the full install for napoleonic...some things have changed, like the forts look different, and the emissary, in battle, the peasants have nap heads, and wheels...looks f***ed up. i really dont know what i did wrong...but i saw no choice in the menu for napolean campaign ???

Greetings mate, when on the campaign slelct screen did you merely look at the choices? you need to scroll down to the bottom to choos the Nap Beta era, if you have done so and no choice is avialble I suggest a re-install, let me know the numbers of the versions you have, also you can get more support and info on our own NTW forums hereQuote:

truly impressive but i have found that some of building cost and times dont match up...its hard to know which is right...some of the farms look really cheap, is that really so? other than that, the AI seems really pussy...i beat france in only a few turns..any way to dial that up a notch? put some iron in their balls so to speak?

Heinrich, have you used the games play difficulty levels? Normal , Hard , Expert? this will give the AI a needed bosst in the Brain area, although it my not help so much it does vary things a bit...LOS

yup, restarted on hard, and the french, although still losing, tend to flank with their horse a bit more, and ive had a few more interesting fights i left england rather undefended, and my "ally" the danes decided to take mercia, northumbria, and scotland in one turn...fortunately the french were gasping for air at this point, so i took back mercia and northumberland in one turn, scotland the next, killed the dane king, and the rest went rebel...thats what u get for messing with my country i like that u can move ships so freely, it makes more sense.
one odd thing i cant explain however, is that my cannons wouldnt fire in one battle, they started the fight completely exhausted, and just did nothing, it caused me to take heavy losses.
also a question, what are the cannon batt units...is that some kind of commander for other artillery units? the picture is a bit different, and the blurbs are all the same...
