just kidding malik.....
I have such a f*cking hangover! No drink for me ever again!
Sit down and have a nice glass of water my fellow barman.
or milk.....
I went to my next door neighbours house party and drunk a few beers. I feel grand now. The party was much more fun than i expected!
House as in home, or House as in Music.
Because that last is very retro. :p
Marry Christmas everybody!
Is it only we Swedes that celebrate christmas the 24th? (on christmas eve?) we even call the 25th "christmas day"(juldagen), but we still celebrate it the 24. on christmas day we do nothing! :inquisitive:
It makes no sense!!! :wall:
I'm Italian (but not from italy tho) and we do that too...I gotta go to my gramma's 2morrow...
Lucky you Alex! I remember when I used to have to visit my grandparents every Christmas (that stopped when my Nan started going "batty"). But looking back on it now, I miss it because that became part of Christmas and New Year for me. And now not seeing them this year at all (practically our whole family's ill :laugh4:, luckily I'm not... yet...), well, it'll be odd.
House as in home. I do not dig that soulless electronic bullshit.Quote:

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but I think it's better that you know, so you don't get your hopes up. I am sad to say that Santa Claus died this morning in a car accident. He was taken to Lapland Central Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Tragically all four of his reindeer had to be put to sleep. His last words are reported to have been something in the line of "Ho... ho... ho...". Needless to say, you shouldn't expect any presents this year.
Merry Christmas everybody, even under these circumstances.

Yeah! Good to see a fellow Arverni in here. :beam:
Well, the Christmas niceties are over. It's 10 to 6 and I'm still sober! Never has this occured before! All this flitting from pillar to post doesn't allow optimum beer drinkage.
My favourite gifts today:-
- Teach yourself Ancient Greek
- Every season of Red Dwarf on DVD
- A book about Carthage from 1958
Thanks Admetos!Quote:

Hurst Nordfink has the right idea. What fun/cool/useful and not so useful things did everyone get for X-Mas?
Me. I got a few cool things...
Best one... "Justinian's Flea: Plague, empire, and the birth of Europe"
Second best ... a wonderful bottle of Port.
and - oh yeah - black socks.:san_cool:
My presents:
The Arab-Israeli Wars by Chaim Herzog
Volume 1 of the Penguin Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, from Trajan to Gratian/Valentinian II
Volume 1 Part 1 of the Cambridge Ancient History: Prolegomena and Prehistory
Theodore Ayrault Dodge's Hannibal
Lovely stuff, but only because I told the relatives exactly what I wanted for gifts. Otherwise I might've gotten random tshirts and socks.
I got the second season of ROMA and some more gifts and money!
Cheers...
a new video card and more RAM.... and a dead AAR........
Hello fellow EB’ers!
I just wanted to pop into the pub, chug down a pint of ale, or two, say hi, and most importantly congratulate the developers on a great mod. I have been a lurker on here for a while, because I have been looking up vital info *spoilers* for my ongoing Romani Campaign, and enjoying some of the great humor on here. I am currently at 179 BC and starting to get fatigued by the duration of this campaign but I am having a great time.
~
Good to see 'ya Caesar, welcome to the Tavern. :ave:
Thanks Admetos. Nice to see you also.
:2thumbsup:
Does anyone know of whom the Roman Commander was responsible in instituting decimation among the ranks? What year was it, also?
Is there a Roman trait that reflects this in the game? :idea2:
Hey Pezhetairoi,
Tell me more about Dodge's "Hannibal" book, if you would be so kind.
thanks.
According to the oft maligned source, Wikipedia, the earliest documented decimation was in 471BC during Romes war with the Volsci.Quote:

Now, buy a drink or get out! :laugh4:
The Aedui have been crushed beneath my heels.
The Romans are my allies
My lands stretch from Lemonum to Mediolanium to the mouth of the Rhine and my eastern border has been fortified against the Sweboz.
This was a very merry Succulosmass for the Avernii.
Happy New Year's everybody!!!
Thats what I like to hear :beam:. :smash:Quote:

Before you start being too nice to me I should probably mention that when the galations rebelled against Pontos and joined my faction I destroyed everything possible in the city, disbanded the units, set taxes to maximum, and then delighted in my now brimming treasury.:2thumbsup:
:furious3: Get out! Now! :whip:

It's a narrative cum analysis of Hannibal's entire career and campaign against the Romans, from Saguntum to Nola to Zama, in the Punic War. It's made from the military point of view, so there are detailed maps, topographical analyses that have been gone over in person by the author in his travels, and the fixing of several battlesites' locations.Quote:

I'm now at the crossing of the Alps and the chapters so far are very well-written.
But you must expect the language of early-1900s acadaemia, very formal and cultured, with some bombastic words.
Yes, Arverni rock! :D
Happy New Year to all EB players
Come again?!Quote:

I agree. When I was in Amsterdam in September, the barman at the hotel we were stopping at kept giving us Jagermeister. I've sickened myself on it!
Damn it!
That guy isn't doing much good for the reputation of our Great Tiny Nation!
Nah, he was cool. It would've been better if he was handing out something nicer. But at least it was free!
I just had to share this awesome comic with you.

Good.
She's too rich, and has an over-inflated concept of her beauty. Which makes her not beautiful at all. Yucks.
And she's as stupid as a lamp post.
I speak for the nation of Lamp posts to say that you have just insulted us deeply, and we demand that you take it back! :P
 I apologize, i didn't meant to insult the Lampposts. I'm tacking it back.
She's also an ugly, wok-eyed anorexic whore.
while we all hate her, 'nuff with the paris-bashing. we all get your points.....
You sound like a fan... Suspitious...
