Is it only we Swedes that celebrate christmas the 24th? (on christmas eve?) we even call the 25th "christmas day"(juldagen), but we still celebrate it the 24. on christmas day we do nothing! :inquisitive:

Lucky you Alex! I remember when I used to have to visit my grandparents every Christmas (that stopped when my Nan started going "batty"). But looking back on it now, I miss it because that became part of Christmas and New Year for me. And now not seeing them this year at all (practically our whole family's ill :laugh4:, luckily I'm not... yet...), well, it'll be odd.

We had a bit of jazz playing, then someone put some Stevie Wonder on. It was all very middle class and civilised.

I still brought it down a few levels by hording all the beer and swearing too loudly.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but I think it's better that you know, so you don't get your hopes up. I am sad to say that Santa Claus died this morning in a car accident. He was taken to Lapland Central Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Tragically all four of his reindeer had to be put to sleep. His last words are reported to have been something in the line of "Ho... ho... ho...". Needless to say, you shouldn't expect any presents this year.

Merry Christmas everybody, even under these circumstances.

Well, the Christmas niceties are over. It's 10 to 6 and I'm still sober! Never has this occured before! All this flitting from pillar to post doesn't allow optimum beer drinkage.

Hello fellow EB’ers!

I just wanted to pop into the pub, chug down a pint of ale, or two, say hi, and most importantly congratulate the developers on a great mod. I have been a lurker on here for a while, because I have been looking up vital info *spoilers* for my ongoing Romani Campaign, and enjoying some of the great humor on here. I am currently at 179 BC and starting to get fatigued by the duration of this campaign but I am having a great time.

According to the oft maligned source, Wikipedia, the earliest documented decimation was in 471BC during Romes war with the Volsci.

As to who was the commander, that is harder to say, but I'm willing to go out on a limb and say it was either Appius Claudius Crassinus Inregillensis Sabinus or Titus Quinctius Capitolinus Barbatus, as these were the consuls at the time. Although I could be, and probably am, wrong.

It's a narrative cum analysis of Hannibal's entire career and campaign against the Romans, from Saguntum to Nola to Zama, in the Punic War. It's made from the military point of view, so there are detailed maps, topographical analyses that have been gone over in person by the author in his travels, and the fixing of several battlesites' locations.

Also includes a detailed stage-by-stage description and mapping of Hannibal's crossing of the Alps and the battles he fought in there. Every single engagement is included and most are mapped so there is great detail. It's all you'll ever need if you wanted to know how Hannibal's war against Rome went from beginning to end. I'm now at the crossing of the Alps and the chapters so far are very well-written.

But you must expect the language of early-1900s acadaemia, very formal and cultured, with some bombastic words.

What were you doing? I haven't been training since before Christmas. Had a match last week and am playing again in tomorrow afternoon. Probably going to get beat tomorrow, we're playing the top of the league team.

we were prascticing tackles and the mole afterwards... I think I was dragged on the ground for a mille... Also taking a 200 pound guy on my chest coming like a train is not very nice:p
