Ok thanx !
What do the regions colored in red mean?
Some units have different recruitment areas for different factions.
Since there is only one card per unit its impossible to exactly represent this.
Green means all faction get get unit in this province, red means that only some can get it.
I find these cards very useful... for pondering when I have a bare few spare moments but not enough time to crank up the game and run a few turns, if nothing else. ~:thumb:
I think I have them all -- but if so (and a minor point I know) then I am "missing" at least two cards for units I have run into on the field. The "Carthos" have used "Garamantes" (sp?) spear-men against me, and the "Carthos" and the KH in particular have used "Freed Slaves" against me.
:help: Where can I find those cards?
Did you use the cards that came with the installation? The ones in this thread are out of date. The complete set for 1.1 comes with your installation of 1.1. Look in the documentation folder.
I assume Arkatreides is referring to 1.0 for now.
Ummm, huh? Oh! I've only been playing about a week now --- since downloading the game. So, I took the hint and have opened that folder. Ok, found the Garamntines, but scanned it pretty closely and no card for the "freed slave." Not that I could detect anyway.Quote:

I saw for example that most but NOT "all" of the Roman cards were grouped together -- but some others like the ped and eq extraordinarii are found singly and are well down the "list?"
In line with that, what is an Imp. Italicus? I assume its like the mercenary Greek General you can "build" in a few cities? I have that capacity in Masillia e.g., and have used it as my "clan" is particularly poor at producing offspring to take the eagles of Rome forward! I have also used the "Lesser Celtic King" once or twice too, for the same reason. IS this the same? I don't seem to be able to build any in any "Italian" cities, and Capua is a level 4 or 5 town now!
Anyway, i guess the "pre-built" nine-cards-to-a-page on earlier parts of the thread were done by folks trying to be helpful? One is really expected to take these and assemble sets one's self?
I'll see about that. Still "finding my way." Thanks! :beam:
Is that the version you plebs play? :laugh4:Quote:

If you don't want to do that look further in the doc folder for the recruitment maps. Those cards have both the names and the unit IDs on them. You can use them to crossreference. It is tedious I know, that's why I suggest you use the viewer.Quote:

BTW: Freed slaves have no card as they are not recruitable.
Oh.... I guess I thought these cards were a complete "intelligence source" of all units in the game, as it were, not just the ones that a player could recruit, albeit, if the slaves are the ONLY unit that one can't recruit, only the AI, then I guess... OtoH, its only "one more card," isn't it? Just asking.... :book:Quote:

I'll try to do that (the installation I mean) this weekend, when I take a break and play another few turns of the screw, errrr, I mean of the game... :laugh4:
PS, Arkatreides: Howz the WX in the shire? Once lived for a few days (about 1000) in nearby "Huntingdonshire." Cheers!
I think I am slowly getting the hang of the Recruit Viewer. Question: As the Romani I see I am supposed to be able to recruit "native" units called "Arrow Throwers" at MIC-4, through-out Italy. I am at MIC-4 generally, MIC-5 in Rome and Capua, can recruit the Ped. (MIC-4) et Eq. (MIC-5) Extraordianri, but I am not seeing any arrow-throwing-dudes in my AO, nor do I see any arrow-throwers in the card folder either. Am I doing something wrong?
Ditto, I see no artillery. No 1 Talent stone projectors & various arrow projectors in Massila. I own it, and in fact am at MIC-5 there too, as I can recruit Hellenic Merc' Generals in town... So again, what am I doing; something wrong? :juggle2:
Thanks!
You need "complex: 2" to build them. If you look the other units that require complex 2 you'll see they are all post-marian units; I'd guess arrow/stone throwers require marian reforms to be built.Quote:

New Questions;
1st: There is not a card-set for the "regional" units that the Romans can recruit? I note the Greeks have a wide selection inside their two sets (albeit some units do seem to be missing form them just the same -- e.g. "Karalians?").
2nd: Lucanians? The Romans can wander Italy vacuuming them up if "they're" prepared to pay the out-on-the-road "mercenary" costs, but they can not recruit them inside any Italian town?
:book:
where is the unit card for the Hetairoi Kataphraktoi? Seriously, I couldn't find it in the eastern hellenic section!
They probably don't have. Units that function only bodyguard don't have unit cards.
Are these cards in EB 1.1? Can't find them in 1.1. In the viewer I get a card with a questionmark.
EB 0.8, actually. The old recruitment viewer for 1.0 (the one in the download section of the EB site) does have unit cards, but I am not sure if they were updated.Quote:

Umm, I just had a look for the cards in my EB 'documentation' folder and they weren't there... There was only the 'JMRC Building Trees' folder... It's probably because I had the sheer gall to install EB in Program Files... On a computer running Windows Vista...
No, I haven't got them either, and I use XP. I guess they forgot to include them.
See my post three posts up. /\
So, because they weren't updated for 1.1, that suddenly means they weren't including in 1.1 at all? That actually seems pretty stupid to me...
If that is an issue, then why keep the 0.8 unit cards stickied?Quote:

Well, if the v1.0 cards were included there would be a bunch of post by people yelling about the stats on the cards not matching up with the ingame stats.Quote:

Ok guys, here is the deal. There are about 350+ unit cards. Every single one has changed. It takes me about 5-10 minutes to update each card. I also have a job, wife and a life. You do the maths.
So, the bottom line is that the cards WILL be updated but please be patient.
Also, regarding 1.1: Would you rather have no information or wrong information?
I actually think this should be unstickied as it is out of date.
I am very grateful for your efforts, Arka. It's just that people get confused by this thread.
Regarding your question, I think it would be best if we could download the old 1.0 cards somewhere, with a clear warning that they are outdated.
could these be used in the Recruitment Viewer? just wondering. If someone tells me how one would go about It, I could spend my soon-to-be-free time doing it all up.
Arka, I would be willing to help, if you could tell me what to do. I've got a lot of free time coming up, so It should hurry things up a bit, plus, it'll relieve you of some work, which I'm sure you'll be glad of.
As I said in my edit, I'd be willing to help.
