Out of Character thread

Ok guys,

It's become clear to me that I just don't have the time currently to keep up with this PBeM. Various things are hitting me at this time (work, university, illness etc) and I keep slipping and can't keep up the input that you all deserve.

So, tomorrow I will fight the battle I have been sent and then I will have to bow out of this PBeM. I hope to rejoin when "life" has settled down a bit in a few months (if it does) but certainly this long period of illness :skull: I've had has really taken the wind from my sails.

A big sorry to all involved but, at the moment, this is for the best as it allows someone else who can put forward sufficient input to take my important Avatar.

- Will play a battle tomorrow daytime and send results immediately.

A sad time for me :thumbsdown: but hopefully when i regain full health and my workload reduces a bit I'll be back to my old annoying self :2thumbsup:

Braden, please try to play the savegame as quickly as you can. Technically, we're going over the 48-hour limit here but since it will most likely be your last battle in a while, I'll make the exception.

I'm also sad to hear that the House of Austria looses another member, and one as important as you. I've heard great things about your story-telling in WoTS and was looking forward to play under your 'rule'.

Braden, I am very sorry to hear you've been unwell and understand you needing to pull out. You know the door is open if the load lightens up. If you can't fight the battle, that's ok - we'll autoresolve or let the new Leopold player fight it. I hope you get better soon.

On the question of who takes over the role of Leopold, we need someone with the time available.

Are you interested, Ituralde? I know you have the Conrad persona worked out, but you are next in line among the Austrians (indeed, the only qualified Austrian - DMu has been inactive and AussieGiant is PC-less).

Alternatively, FLYdude, do you want to jump ship and become an Austrian? I know from WotS that you are a long stayer :bow:

I think Ituralde would be a fine pick for Leopold if he's up for it. He's done a lot of the heavy lifting for Austria in the Diet and been an effectively played thorn in the side of Bavaria (not that I'm speaking from personal experience or anything).

Just my two cents.

I went to bed yesterday immediatelly after my last post, but I had already noticed that I'm up in the list to replace Braden and have thought about it a little last night.

Of course I would have preferred that Braden played on as I have already established a play style and possible plot line with Conrad and his potential successor that is now lost to me. However there are many more opportunities if you play at the head of a house so it's really mixed feelings here.
Can't let the House of Austria be leaderless, so I'm gonna take the challenge.

I would like to play on with Conrad von Schüsselen a little more though. I just started some plot lines with him and would like to finish them with Conrad. As dlain has mentioned I already have prepared for such a situation and should be able to dispose of Conrad quietly :beam: . Don't know how long the plots should take, but they should be over by the next Diet meeting. I will from now on speak and vote in the Diet for Leopold alone of course.

I guess it's time to train some battles on very hard. Austria already has a poor military reputation, no need to tarnish it further.

So I take it from your posts that you haven't heard from DMu either. I'm gonna try to get it contact with him via PM. Otherwise it seems like we two will have to rock the boat AussieGiant! :2thumbsup:

Can the other houses or Braden bring me up to date whether he has started any plot lines with you yet? See you on the Diet floor!

Braden's working on a UK timezone (as am I).

To be honest, I am tempted to say just play the battle out now. But that might be unfair to Braden - I have an image of a sick Orgah struggling to fight out a battle and upload it, only to find out it's not needed. So let's give him a little grace period - IIRC, in this thread, he said he'd fight out the battle daytime today and upload it.

It would be of some value to know the "Teams" time zones.

Could we find that out?

When exactly does the next set of edicts happen? I'm a little lost on that particular administration issue.

I'm waiting for Braden and would actually appreciate if he slugs it out for me. I'm just not too keen to do a battle report yet. :sweatdrop:

Concerning the Diet session. The Diet meets during midterm and at the end of each chancellors turn. Meaning every 10 turns of the game. When this happens in real time is hard to predict and dependy entirely of the speed of playing from the chancellor and how fast generals that have to fight battles let him do this.

how many of you were playing in the other game together?

Ideally I'd like the battle at least 30 minutes before 17:00 GMT. That way it'll give me enough time to play and pass the savegame off to dlain before the end of the day.

Ituralde has informed me that he can only play the battle in a couple of hours (so, past my deadline then).

What I think I'll do is receive his savegame, and play with that unless Braden sends me one, in which case I'll use Braden's. Since there's no longer a rush I am no longer eager to just have the battle finished.

Update - just about to play the battle so will have the save with you in an hour or less.

I think Braden deserves to play this game so I'm gonna wait a little more before tackling this myself, since there's no rush anymore.

file uploaded - kotr1106-2.zip - yes, I did win and quite convincingly though heavy cavarly is VERY vunerable in cities (Leopold survives ok though).

Oh man, glad Braden played this one. Just checked the battle out for myself and managed to loose Lepold when the battle was already won. Way to go! :wall:

Think I'll have to practice some more or I'll always pass the battles on to Braden. :laugh4:
