It sounds like a comparatively simple software problem, maybe a corrupted installation (though as youve reinstalled it twice, maybe not) maybe a problem with .net like ive said.
Ild try uninstalling both, removing all files/folders and (if you feel confident enough and can get the information) all registry settings. Reboot, install the .net framework (using windows update if possible) and then install the game. But to be honest Im not certain if that would help, and your liable to get a good answer in the Apothecary, after all thats what that forum is for.
Welcome everyone!
Hi all I am new on this forum, and I am new in TW games.
For now I have just two question. On some screenshots I saw that one unit have two times more soldiers than mine. For example 150 instead of 75.How can I fix it?
Second:can I somehow change game time so my turn is not two years. It is so fast, and I would want it to be about one.Can I change it ?
Welcome to the .Org Longbowman ~
You can change unit size in the "Options" menu which you can select when you land at the opening screen.Quote:

Simply select the "Advanced Options" check-box, and change the "Unit Scale" settings to your personal preferences. I think that 150 men in a unit will probably be the "Huge" setting.
Bear in mind that this modification will not change anything in your existing campaigns - it will only apply to any new ones started. Also bear in mind that upping this setting increases population drain from cities when units are trained. This can be problematic when trying to encourage city to growth.
On the technical side of things, this may also decrease performance on lower spec computers. If this is the case, and you still wish to play on a larger unit size, then lowering the quality of other settings on the "Video Options" menu should negate the problem slightly.Yep, it's possible.Quote:

If you are running Windows XP or any other OS then this isn't necessary.
To turn the feature off, first navigate to the start menu. In the "Start Search" box, type "Control Panel".
The next steps depend upon whether you have the classic view, or the modern view enabled.
Should you be utilising the classic view, simply select "User Accounts" from the menu.
Should you be using the modern view, select "User Accounts and Family Safety". From there, click on "User Accounts".
Once you are into the area, select "Turn User Account Control On or Off".
You will then be asked for permission to continue. Either enter the correct administrator password, or simply click continue to move onwards.
From there, it is nice and easy. Quite simply de-check the check-box on the screen, and click "Ok".
After that, restart your computer, and then continue. With UAC turned off, the file can now be edited.
Once you've completed the edit, it is advised that you turn User Account Control back on. This should allow a higher level of security for your system and ensure that you are less vulnerable to certain threats.
Next you need to find your "descr_strat.txt" file. Typically this can be found in:
"C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign"
If you installed the game in a custom directory, then you may have to search for the file manually.
Right click on the file, select "Properties" and then ensure that the tick box marked "Read-only" isn't checked. If it is, de-check it.
Once you've done that, click "Ok" and open up the file.
Then find the line which contains the word "timescale 2.0".
Change the "2.0" to the number of years you wish each turn to be. "1.0" is one year per turn, "0.5" is half a year per turn while "0.25" is a quarter of a year per turn.
Good luck Longbowman ~:)

Welcome Longbowman, and everyone!!!
~A modest Historian destined for greatness.
Thank you guys, and I have 1 more question.
I am playing MTWII,can someone give me link from where I can download BigMap mod so I have more provinces?
Hello everyone,
I am very glad to have found this place. Often hesitant to add games to my collection, I am almost always late to the party when it comes to new games. A friendy forum like this where there is still activity in the sections for the older games is exactly what I am looking for.
Verrucosus
P.S.: Longbowman, I found a thread called "BiG MaP ?" in the M2TW "Mod Chat" Subforum. Since this is my first post, I was not allowed to post the link, but you should find it if you go back long enough. The last reply was on 25th January 2007. I hope the information and link there is what you are looking for.

Hello Everyone,
Unfortunately I only now realize I never introduced myself. Please forgive my oversight. My only excuse is that I’ve been away from the Total War Games for about one year and a half. Now I’m back. When I joined this forum in 2005 I was searching for a decent guide to RTW and I finally found what I needed in frogbeastegg’s work. I like MTW too, but I definitely prefer to dominate the world as a consul of the Roman Republic. I live in Tuscany, Italy, about 80 km (50 miles) away from the city of Arezzo (Roman Arretium, the capital of the Julii). I’m glad to be a part of such an active community and eager to learn and explore the most audacious techniques of ancient warfare with all of you. :charge:
Regards and Happy Xmas (I hope you have fun…) ~:santa:

Welcome! :birthday2:
Hey,y'all! I've been a member since Aug '07,but didn't post my introduction until now (it took me awhile to actually figure out the ropes).
Been an ancient Greece nut since playing God of War, discovered R:TW on YouTube and bought it, just recently got Total War Eras (and learned never to play a sequal before an original, but Medieval and Shogun are still great), and my idols are Alexander III of Macedonia and Leonidas I of Sparta (which is probably obvious by my username). Oh, and I'm honored by the warm welcome you all showed this novice Total Warrior. Battle tactics, strategies, and campaign advice found here helped me lead the Julii to victory in my first imperial campaign. Thanks a million, guys and gals.
Good to see you here, mate. ~
