Very wise of you. You would have been caught in a vice. There was no way I was letting you stay in that peninsula. It would have been a very bad move long term for me. But since you actually wanted to leave, I figured I'd help you out. It wasn't Turkish destruction I wished, I just wanted them out of "my" area. :D
What's funny is that I never was able to take that one settlement of yours that went rebel because we mismanaged the hand-off. :laugh4:
auto-resolve was not my friend in that game...

Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
I was glad you accepted the deal. I didn't end up needing the money (go free upkeep jihad troops!) but it was nice to leave behind a semi-friendly faction.
I think everyone was surprised by how quickly I took out Antioch. If I had angered the Byzantines in my retreat, I may have had more than Tristan to contend with after EF was out. :sweatdrop:
Autoresolve is really no one's friend but Catholic factions and the Teutonic Order's. :clown:

Of course I accepted the deal! The Emperor was a pragmatist. He saw how good it was. He wanted to play the Muslims and Catholics off of each other. Imagine his surprise when one of the Catholics disappeared so fast. That was a slight miscalculation on his part. He didn't want any of the four to die. He just wanted all four to be weak.
What was amusing was KoJ trying to get the Emperor to join in war. That was the last thing the Emperor wanted. He just wanted to sit in his corner of the map and watch the money roll in while his opponents beat each other bloody. Eventually KoJ figured out something was up and threatened some vague retribution.
*edit*
And when I went in to test the passwords, I saw what you did with all that money... very smart... I did my best to not meta-game but I was very impressed. :D

Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
You'll have to jog my memory. I recall using mostly my starting funds to hire troops (and with free upkeep, I never had a shortage of money early on), gifting money to Doug, and building in all of my settlements.

It was the gifting that caught me off guard. When I logged in with people's passwords to test them, a diplomatic screen popped up for Doug gifting him a crap-load of money. :laugh4:
In hindsight, it seems logical but I didn't think of it at the time.

Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
Ah, that. I was making a ton of money each turn because almost all of my soldiers were on Jihad, and I knew that the KOJ was larger than the Principality and Egypt weaker militarily than Turkey, so I gave Doug all of my extra money. I think I did it more than just that turn.

Well, I didn't log into your accounts on other turns. Just the test turn. :smash:

Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
I'd be curious to know if the money made much of a difference for Egypt.

It was the difference between survival and death. I only kept KoJ out of Egypt's core lands by the thinnest of margins.

It's nice to hear it made such a big difference. :2thumbsup:

It is amusing to learn that my scheming made such a big difference. I helped kill one faction and helped save another. So much for being neutral in that game...

Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
Hey guys,
I don't mind Tristan taking his time on turns but I have to admit my life will be getting rather busier over the next couple months. I'm going to have to cut out a couple of hotseats to be able to keep up, especially if I want to write stories for my my character when the new KOTR starts.
I was actually kind of expecting the Kingdoms hotseats to be getting near their end before summer. The Teutonic one did, and the Britannia campaign is getting there, but at its current rate this game could take a very long time. :sweatdrop:
I geuss what I'm saying is that I may have to make some difficult choices in the coming weeks, but I'll make sure to keep you guys informed well in advance. ~:(

Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
Don't worry... With the Teutonic at an end, my getting eliminated from the MPC and only BC on my plate, I should be able to get this done much quicker from here on...

The upload link is acting up. What's that alternate site?

Thanks. The kids are on the game computer now. I'll kick them off if it takes too long.

Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
Clarification: This wasn't Egypt's turn. I had to play GH's because of technical difficulties. He told me what he wanted done. Zim's up.
-
Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
Zim's swamped, so with his permission I've played his turn, following his directions, and mine.
http://mizus.com/files/pbm/Crusade-26-01.zip is up for the KoJ.
I don't know what kind of elaborate trap you've set, Tristan, but I've taken your bait. Jerusalem is taken and sacked. Baldwin was too far to intervene. He'll now exact revenge on the occupiers, but my warriors will have earned Paradise.

Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
Sorry guys but I'm swamped at work...
I just managed to take a quick look at the save...
Plus I'm gonna be AFK from Wednesday till Monday...
I'll do my best to post the save before leaving but I'm not sure I can do it...
So much to do, so little time to do it in...

Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
Well, now I'm going to be gone too.
My daughter is graduating college at Texas A&M on Saturday. I'm leaving tonight. I won't have time to look at this before I go, and won't be back until Thursday of next week.
If anybody's still having technical difficulties with playing their turn or a serious time crunch, any arrangement you guys work out is fine with me.
-
Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
Congrats Doug :medievalcheers:
Perhaps it's time to put this campaign to bed. I'm out indefinitely, Doug's going to be gone for a while, and Tristan's swamped for time. Seems like real life is all hitting us pretty hard.
You three have put more time in this campaign than me, but I'm cool with leaving things in a freeze and the struggle for the Middle East, as always, open. What do you guys think?
-
Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
I always defer to real life. It seems like we're all hammered for time. I'm willing to go along with the majority.
-
Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
I find that idea acceptable on one condition. You guys have to work with me to do one last story (all cooperatively or each separately, either or) to provide a sort of open ended conclusion to one of the Throne Room's greatest aars, so I can link to it in the Gahzette article I'll be doing on the end of the game.
-
Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
Ok, it seems I'll be doing GH's turn. If nobody minds I may wait and let Doug do his turn when he gets back, as I'm in no hurry for my turn and Tristan is also out.
We can also settle whether we want to leave it finished at the end of this turn or not.
-
Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
I'm OK to let it rest at this point (before I get steamrolled...:smash:)
And Zim, I'm all for helping you in writing a fitting ending to those epic battles we fought...
I may even continue my write-up I left it (and finsih the Teutonic One also...)
Will summer ever come ?

Re: Kingdom's Crusade Hotseat PBM
Guess I'm having a hard time letting go.
I'll bear down and finish this tomorrow.
