Any further talk with you is unnecessary, sir Pizza. You can't be genuine to accuse me of "fishing for these roles myself", as you have no proof of this, plus Believer, B_Ray and anyone else (but Renata) can confirm that I never approached them to know their role.
Goodbye.

Quote:
"You can trust me" was an offer to keep your knowledge alive, should you die. Technically I didn't ask you to tell me, I told you that you could tell me if you wanted to.
There's not a real massive difference between asking for all role information and saying that I can tell it to you. It reveals your desire to know what I know, and it is prompting me to infodump.
You cannot hand wave that away. If you're innocent, you should be thankful that I did wave it off. That combined with your Renata fishing is what made alarms go off.
Quote:
My worry was about the knowledge being lost, that's all. I would have been satisfied if you said that someone else had that knowledge.
You agreed with me that such knowledge was absolutely idiotic for anyone to have because it was game-losing. I explained that even if I knew for sure you were a townie and couldn't be converted, that giving you such info invites mistakes and reveals through PIS.
It was bad enough that I had it at all. I trusted myself with it to an extent because I kept refusing to share info even with claimed gods and people who had been scanned.
I considered telling Kage some of it, but he died along with the guy who scanned him.
Quote:
I'm not sure this can be called rolefishing. Surely you can tell the difference.
If it's not fishing, it's showing up with a rod, bait, boat, and getting on the water, and leaving the fishing pole near the water and then acting surprised when you catch a fish.
And I agree this is pointless. Other than the ascension of mortals to godhood, this game is over.

To everyone else, here's why ATPG is Scum:

First, you'll agree that ATPG must consider that Andres is either full of it when claiming Loki, or that he's truthful. Also, ATPG is either Jotun, or a Chamopion as he claims. This gives us four possibilities to understand ATPG's motivation.
1) ATPG is a Champion and believes Andres is telling the truth about being Loki.
Why would he challenge a God and be sure to lose? This will only result in a townie dying, and for what? Nothing. Andres beating ATPG will prove that he's a god, but not if he's evil or good. This option is nonsense.
2) ATPG is Town and believes that Andres is full of it.
If Andres is lying, then he's either human or Jotun. If he's Jotun, the Holmgang result will look similar to him being a Goid so challenging him, and dying won't help the Town.
If Andres is human, ATPG will prove it, or not, depending on the result, but since humans are Town, I fail to see how this will help the Town.
3) ATPG is Jotun, and believe Andres is Loki.
He challenged him, hoping to kill him. Since Jotuns have similar Holmgang values than gods, it makes plenty of sense for one to challenge Loki.
4) ATPG is Jotun, and believes Andres is lying.
He will kill Andres, good riddance, one less, however it may, or may not reveal him, depending on the result.
So there it is: The only motivation ATPG can have to challenge Andres is a Jotun motivation.
He's Jotun. Maybe I can prove it moire, if my challenge goes through.

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
I'll tell you why I challenged Andres.
Because it's FUN. No strategy required.

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
Given ATPG acts like he's found a gold mine, a Jotun masquerading as a King, and a chance to turn this game around , I will not believe he would suicide by attacking Andres, a claimed god, "because it's fun".

Would attacking a Jotun really go any better? I can't beat those either.
Going down and proving Andres really is who he says he is accomplishes removing suspect ATPG and verifies the claim of someone who has had zero pressure all game.
But yeah, my primary motivation for this GAME is fun.

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
And if it was so much "fun", why did he wait until Day 4 to challenge someone?
Yup. Jotuns were afraid to challenge early.
Why is he picking Andres and not someone else?
Yup. He's Jotun, and there's hardly a better target than a claimed god.

I've personally vanquished half of the Jotun using only my godlike holmgang abilities, and Reenk changed his name because he lost a bet with me.

I have no idea what has happened in this game, so I'm of little help. Go whatever is left of the town.

Jokes are unhelpful, I suppose. You gotta mix it with serious attempts to find the scums, or you will die. Also people have to get used to you.
-
Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
First round lynches suck....you never hit scum.
Only game I recall it ever happening with a first round lynch of the mafia was with Yoyoma and I. After that, Pizzaguy unreasonably slapped down hard on townies nailing the mafia in first round lynches...had to make it loads easier for the mafia, huh?:mean:
Edit:It was a totally random lynch, no reason for it. Quite funny since I beat Lord Winter to the tie vote in that game.:bounce:
Edit2: Oh yeah it was in "Psycho mafia 2", he had an emergent mafia(Which I randomly nailed:smug:). And one mafia that could keep recruiting if one was killed...it meant that two lynches in a row were needed to kill the mafia and if you missed one or were wrong, they would merely recruit another one. Meant town had to get it right almost every round. Compared to that game this is too easy yet, we still are going to lose.
-

But this is the first day, so practically no real chance to catch scum. I can't really be serious on the first day. The lynch was better than a champion or a king, me being a basic townie of the weakest kind. But I will post more serious posts more often though, or at least try to. Like I did this game, or tried to.
@ WhiteEyes
The Commie game was a day one lynch win on Lord Winter. Funny read that.
-
Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
@ White_Eyes.
You just had to lynch the Psycho, who was the recruiter, then his buddy.
He was nice and mute, too, so he wouldn't put up much of a fight. I think Beskar is still peeved that I made him mute.
@ Visor
More funny was Pick your power where I made a day one, first-post "case" on Khaan by citing all the other games he was mafia in, thereby proving he was mafia in that game as well.
And he was.
-

I still dislike recruitment in all it's unholy glory thanks to that game. And it was overkill having a emergent mafia with one recruiter and a partner in a small game.
Edit:Pizzguy, you need to look at it this way. Me and Beefy had to limp on, after tevash left in "Godfather 3", we missed two kills because of that...and 4 more, if we could have recruited whenever Beefy wanted or even just to replace tevash. We even asked GH if we could send in the kill for him to but no. I look at all the mafia "Super powers" that they seem to have now and I wonder if it's more about skill or just luck getting a good role and side?
The best role I have ever had was a "Joker" role. But even I agree that it's just overpowered.
I was lynched twice in one game with it...must be some kind of record there.:grin2:
I need to get some sleep.:laugh4:

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
You guys had detectives. Plural. Doctor. Blocker. And a dude who could kill from beyond the grave.
2 years later, that's still not enough for White_Eyes... :laugh4:
-
Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
@ Pizza
I read through that last week, it was funny how he actually was mafia, and andres was the suicide bomber who then killed you. I think the CDF venegul lynchee move at the end was pretty brilliant though.

The Vig was on his own side....Doctor and Blocker were killed right away. The Detective that survived WAS THE ONE RECRUITED. We lost because he outted the mafia buddy and was recruitable.
Edit: The only game(Warhammer) where I received a recruit ability, it was heavily restricted for balance to only one townie and I faced all what you have there and more. There was even a doctor/reviver role.:laugh4:
-
Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
Yeah, you were stuffed with power roles so that you could protect other power roles from dying, and those power roles could deduce who was the Psycho and kill him off before he could recruit those power roles. You also could have lynched him randomly. You also could have wondered why the mute guy wasn't dying after the first game where the mute guy was the best detective you had.
In other words, balanced but things didn't go well for you.
Kind of like this game. Sigurd was kind enough to give us gods with protective and detective powers, champions, and cannon fodder to holmgang and possibly find Jotun with. And we could have lynched them randomly. But instead, we blew ourselves up, one power role at a time, and the Jotun carved us to tiny bits, laughing the entire time.
-
Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
So, being able to recruit any power role is balanced?:inquisitive:
Honestly, I well never be able to see that....but your games are some of the best here at the Org.
I have lost in so many of your games, but it was such a blast just getting there, that I enjoyed it.:2thumbsup:

Yeah, when I give you three detectives, a doctor, a vigilante, and a neutral guy who turns into a post-death vigilante known as the God of Fire, and the guy you have to lynch first is too mute to argue his way out of it. I just disagree with you that it wasn't balanced. For a tiny game, half of the players were hulking power roles for the town side, and the evil characters were a cult with a maximum of 2 members; you just had to lynch the recruiter first was all.
This is also a sorta strange place to be discussing that game. :tongue2:
Anyway... I do appreciate the compliment though. Maybe the townies will win the next Gameroom Anniversary game so it won't be quite as humiliating.

Thanks for the info
And by the way, all you debbie downers on the town's performance remember this:
In Midgard I Jotun won a total mafia victory. Not only that but I think only one of them was actually suspected. Oh, and they had no cover roles (pretty sure but Sigurd can confirm). Oh, and they had to kill everyone. And the Aesir roles lived much longer than in this game.
The town had a ton of infighting and bickering, role reveals due to pressure, etc, just like here. Midgard is a tough game to win as town. That's why it's so fun to be a townie here. :beam:

Since information attained prior to death is allowable to be discussed, in case there are still doubts, which I do not think to be the case:
ATPG is obviously lying, the lie of omission which he applied to Romanic's private claim to him, the lie that he knew who I was. The only reason he wasn't lynched was because some people actually believed him, and also because others had different agendas.]
In fact in private he claimed champion, initially the question was whether he was revealing as king to soak up fire, but by the following night, there was no doubt whatsoever. He had made his move and he did it brazenly.
In any event he needs to go, unless the Loki faction is well content with the Jotun's presence which means more "fun chaos".
-
Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
Romanic's telling the truth about his interactions with me, and as far as I can confirm, also about ATPG's lie of omission regarding Khaan.
AtPG's statement that the kings he knew about were all alive before last night is meaningless; the Jotun spent the last three nights killing Gods with pro-town powers.
Rolefishing is only borderline scummy: as a reason to suspect someone it's not much above the PIS thing Romanic used on me. Both are things that townies will happily do, out of curiosity (with no reason to disguise it)/unwittingly accurate assumption.
ATPG has shown signs of scum-BS during the last day. I'm not going to bother listing them.
I'm not going to pretend to certainty, especially given my track record this game so far, but of the two I would still lynch ATPG over Romanic.
Oh well.

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
Round 6
Night 6
Holmgang results #5
Feelings were still raw after the execution, people just couldn’t let it go. They still argued who should have been executed. Two men was especially in disagreement and despite what the Hovgod would rule, they drew their blades.
They threw taunts at each other while assessing their opponent’s strengths. They each had a fine specimen of Frankish steel, forged by the very masters of swords. Swords bought with much gold or gifted by Emperors.
One came from Hordaland and the other from Hålogaland. The Hålogaland man threw the first slash which came back red. The man from Hordaland, a large man of nearly 7 feet roared in pain. But his training with the Varangian guard proved to those watching why a former captain of such a guard should not be trifled with.
The Hordaland man wielded his blade as a master and he avoided every attack and counter that came his way. The Hålogaland got severely injured and could no longer defend himself. The Hordaland man slashed powerfully downward, opening the rib cage of the Hålogaland man who slumped backwards obviously dead.
A dark shadow lurked into the Hålogaland camp looking for a certain man. The man was however nowhere to be found. The shadow stood up and sniffed the air and grinned. He searched the area and finally found what he was looking for. He crouched and picked up a King’s cloak pin. He whispered; Two remain.
A cloaked man approaches the place where
Eirik of Hordaland rests, holding an amulet in his hand. Greetings, Eirik King of Hordaland. The Gods are pleased with your actions, and it is time for your ascension.
Eirik looked eager now. The cloaked figure continued; there must be an official ceremony to give you our blessing.
The cloaked figure led Eirik out to the fjord. He waved his hands and the surface of the sea froze solid. Eirik could hear beautiful laughter and from both ends of the fjord, beautiful women came flowing over the ice. They had something attached to their feet that made it easier to travel on ice. They surrounded Eirik and asked if he would join them in a game played on ice. Yes sure. They gave him a stick that ended with a bend. The goal of this game is to push this stone with your stick and put it into that box over there. She pointed at a frame with a fish net attached to it. The beautiful women divided into two groups and Eirik joined one of the groups playing as something they called Captain. They had a laugh and Eirik greatly enjoyed the game and was able to score the final goal. The winning team surrounded him again and showered him with kisses and promises of an eventful night. The cloaked figure came over and handed Eirik an engraved cup and told him that he has won the right to become a God.
Another cloaked figure hurries onto the ice and comes right up to the cloaked figure with Eirik. They whispered. The cloaked figure holding the cup suddenly turns to Eirik and apologizes. I am sorry but I have been informed that you have already been traded to another set of Gods two days ago. I am sorry; we have to take your price back. I will however arrange transportation for you to your new Gods.
The cloaked figure waves his hands and the ice is gone. Eirik sinks into the dark ocean. He can’t swim and drowns. The cloaked figure smiles wickedly and transforms into a hideous creature 10 feet tall. These puny humans are so easily distracted. The beautiful women transform into seals and swims out to open sea.
The camps awake and finds another King missing. He is found drowned on the beach.
The Hovgod cries vengeance upon the perpetrators. Find them, find them NOW!!!

We are all well.
It is kind of surreal. I hope tomorrow will bring some answers.

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
Wait, so Reenk was a king? Then why would he... but he... I don't.... :dizzy:
:laugh4: This game is hilarious. Really top notch stuff.

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
So that leaves... how many town roles alive? One?

That's right. Just me.
Vote: Romanic
Poor Reenk. They probably killed him not even knowing he was a king.
However: there was only one night-kill, and in it only one Jotun is mentioned, so it wasn't a double-kill. This leads me to believe we got a Jotun somehow.
EDIT: Wait, never mind. The first kill was on autolycus, who was already dead. And then Reenk was also a king. So we have only one king left.
IF ANYBODY ELSE BESIDES ROMANIC IS A KING, THEY SHOULD LET SOMEBODY THEY TRUST KNOW. THEN WE CAN PROVE ROMANIC IS LYING AND LYNCH HIM.

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
No..."a dark shadow" was looking to kill Reenk as well, but he went missing. We hit no Jotun yet. I can only think TinCow or Tratorix did this due to the hockey kill write-up. But we have too many trolling lurkers that would do this for the lulz.
I am at a loss on who to vote for...now that Reenk is dead there is not much point.
-
Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
No, the other one tried to kill Autolycus and found him dead.
You should have told me, Reenk. That was one of the options for you, but I read it wrong. Sad.
If there's only one left, it's either white_eyes or Romanic that is a King, not both.

Chaotix, this is the kind of thinking that pretty much lost us the game in the first place. :wall:
Vote: Romanic If he's a King, we're screwed, if he's a Jotun we can at least salvage our dignity.
-
Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
Oh wait, and glyphz, too.
Kagemusha died in glyphz place -- that's champion or something like it.
Romanic tried to prevent 'khaan's lynching due to his being his champion, and 'khaan did turn up as a champion.
White_eyes under the circumstances will surely say he was just joking --- what's going on?
-
Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
"He was missing" how could his body have just disappeared in the duel write-up? I don't think he was trying to kill Autolycus...

The jotun knew autolycus was a king, it makes sense that they would try to kill him. Unless you think Diamondeye was actually a Jotun, which I doubt at this point.

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
But at the end of the night write-up it says "The camp awakes and finds another King missing" but no mention of the one that was killed in the duel?

The drowned king was Reenk.

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
I seems pretty clear that either ATPG or Romanic is the mole, the question is which one. I have a feeling we're already toast, but we can at least redeem ourselves a little bit by ending with a solid lynch.
-
Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
It all is talking about Reenk, nowhere does it talk about autolycus. Regardless, Reenk is dead and is a King.

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
Well Andres/Loki being absent pretty much confirms he is behind the crazy naked kills. That still devastated the town.
I would guess White_eyes was obviously not anyone important, got roped by Roink and/or Loki to bluff on their behalf. Tincow I'm assuming had mason status or something with her father too, else third party victory of some sort for just those two but still not Jotun.
So that leaves far too many lurkers who could be Jotun, but what several people said about ATPG still sounds good, he's been lying and certainly had the opportunity to betray the town network. Between him and Roman I'd say it's time to lynch ATPG today, best shot for the town, though I would also agree to Andres out of spite just to cause Loki defeat too if the town realizes it's doomed.
Roman's role PM doesn't look fake and he sounds like he's telling the truth. If he was the last King but also a Jotun they'd have won right now, so that's not it to start though curious what is up with glyphz. However if Autolycus was the King of Halagoland, which we didn't expect to have a King except maybe the Usurper from there, that could mean there were seven Kingdoms with a nominal King (could still have Jotun cover role) which is unexpected but otherwise one of the other kingdoms comes up short. Writeup notwithstanding we need to list the Kingdoms out again and preferably see glphyz's claim.

Here:
Quote:
The Hålogaland got severely injured and could no longer defend himself. The Hordaland man slashed powerfully downward, opening the rib cage of the Hålogaland man who slumped backwards obviously dead.
A dark shadow lurked into the Hålogaland camp looking for a certain man. The man was however nowhere to be found. The shadow stood up and sniffed the air and grinned. He searched the area and finally found what he was looking for. He crouched and picked up a King’s cloak pin. He whispered; Two remain.
Is the autolycus part.

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
So, autolycus was the Usurper? Reenk picked well if that is so...come to think of it, he was trying hard for him to be killed if all else failed and he succeeded. :laugh4:

ATPG was auotlycus' champion, if the Jotun were trying to kill him, why would they need to wait for Reenk to reveal who he was? I'm thinking it's Romanic or nothing.

Re: Midgardsaga III [In Play]
Oh my god. That was the best kill write up I have ever seen in a Mafia game. :2thumbsup: I like it more than the Rise of the Mob sniper one. And having it done after whooping auto's *** makes it all the better. I mean the fight wasn't even close auto. 7-1. :laugh4:
The only claimed king we have is Romanic. glyphz hasn't claimed king but he did have the Kage substitution which suggested it. Atpg claims Champion (of autolycus who was a king).
That in itself makes Romanic look the worst, but then again, Atpg could very well be a Jotun who had a cover role as auto's champion which auto himself didn't know about. And why the heck is glyphz not dead yet? Given the nature of Midgard where the Jotun are extremely well entrenched and have huge benefits in terms of cover roles, glyphz possibly could be Jotun. :shame:
I'd still vote for Romanic because we really can't be expected to figure the other ones out at all.
There is one more matter. I didn't follow my own advice and I revealed to someone just last round. :undecided: I revealed to TinCow after it became clear he was Gyda. It was a hasty move on my part (half joking too), but he was the first one to know my role (unless I had been investigated or something). I wanted to know what exactly Gyda was doing and her goal (she was mentioned in my role PM). It seems really odd that Gyda herself would be aligned Jotun too, so I just went ahead.
I can't help but speculate that TinCow now is working for the Jotun. It's not sure if he is of course, but... my daughter... how could you? :shame:
Oh and bets on the other Jotun? I have been thinking fluffy and robbiecon since last round (with Romanic).

Oh, I forgot to mention, I also revealed to White eyes (and fully, with role PM), but that is different because White eyes and me had been through too much together this game to have anything but 100% trust. ~:grouphug:
