Hello My name is Sean ( They call me Breeze) I want to say I really like the forums section here i find it to be pretty informative. I almost left when I couldnt post because I never even relaized the limitations were forum based at first. I understand the reasons for this and its a good system. Thanks for the support.
Hello! I am Wilhelm, and I inhabit the worthless area known as Flint, Texas, U.S. of A.(Just kidding~D , about the worthless part that is) I am 15 as well.
Welcome bogeys18, Bryn Jones, Breeze and Wilhelm The Mediocre.

Hey everybody,
I've actually been reading this forum for 6 months and never got around to joining (how wude). So, I'm familiar with some of you already although you don't know it. I've finally played several games of MTW and then VI and am itching to post. So, I play MTW:VI with no mods...and always GA. I was a History/Bible major in college so I prefer a historical type game. I actually bought the game on a whim knowing nothing about it...and now think it's the most entertaining game I've ever played. It even beats out my vast collection of boardgames.
I'm 32, live in Jackson, MS, USA and work for the US government. As to the name "The Darkhorn" ........well, if I remember correctly there was some Avalon Hill game by that name (actually only "Darkhorn") that I saw in a catalog as a teenager. It was some type of RPG I think. Anyway, adding "the" sounded menacing, so there you have it.
My favorite factions to play are the French and the Poles, but I'm currently in my first Byz campaign more or less getting ready for the GH. Well, that's the intro. Nice to finally get off my bum and join. Y'all (imagine my suthin' accent) are an entertaining bunch of folks!
I forgot to add that my first campaign was with Denmark. Elmoheads overran almost everything and kept turning my people into good little Saracens. I understood little about conversion at that time, but I did slaughter tons of them invading my territories (never actually lost one to them). I also didn't know what the heck those little scroll thingys were for. ~D Once, I figured it out I thought that gave real color to the game. The Danes would be my favorite faction (Huscarles with bronze shields and a +1 weapon upgrade will kick butt all the way into the Late era against most anything as long as properly supported) if they could Crusade. It wasn't till I read some stuff on this forum that I figured out what the friggin' problem was. So, the Pope can kiss my sweet putushki....I go on Crusade anyway!!!! I don't need him to conquer outremer. My lads know what we did!
Welcome, The Darkhorn ~
I also read this forum for a long time before joining, it seems strange but it also makes things a bit easier and more familiar. Nice description of your campaign, too. ~:)

Welcome The Darkhorn, enjoy your stay.

welcome to everyone i have missed
~
wow, thanks very much. i've only been playing MTW for a couple of months but already i have a nervous twitch whenever i hear choral voices (the Pope, the Pope, he's coming to get ya!). i'm english, and am a ShogunTW veteran as well as Cossacks and anything with tanks and soundtracks by Frank Klepacki.
i look forward to posting my many misfortunes (mainly involving crusades and an adamant refusal to use cheesy tactics and unit spamming) for the amusement and dissection of such worthies as yourselves...
remember, no one expects the Spanish Inquisition
Welcome to the org matteus the inbred.
Btw do you mean STW multiplayer?
nah, just on me own in a small dark room...can't afford the online time and only have a 56k modem. oh, and having a job gets in the way too, dammit
~
Welcome all! Welcome to the Org!
Welcome all new members
Hi, Darkhorn!
Hi yourself! I would like to thank everyone for being so friendly and accomodating (or is it acommodating?.....a comode dating?).....~;)Quote:

Gerbil, although it's kinda frustrating at first, that's the Org's way of keeping the riff-raff out, I believe. You should be promoted to member soon and then you can wander about freely.
In the mean time, you can ask your M:TW questions around here and if you don't get your promotion fairly soon, just clamor a bit and someone should take care of you, since the mods are very reasonable around here.
Hello, I'm new to the forum(only 2 days) but I have been reading the threads about RTW. First of all, I would like to welcome those who joined before and those who will join after me.
I am from Turkey but I live in the US. I came here 4 years ago. I am 16 and an 11th grader in Houston.
I like to play soccer, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and especially TOTAL WAR Series(even thought I didn't get to play STW yet).:charge:
Hello, new to the Guild. I bought Rome Total War about two weeks ago and don't think I have slept since. I rarely read forums on the web or worry about mods, but have found myself into both with this game!
I'm looking forward to reading more of everyone's ideas on strategy and tactics.

Hello new subjects. I'm the king of this place; welcome to my kingdom! ~
~;)
Oh yeah I understand, and it certainly does seem to work as the quality of posts here are far better than what you normally see on forums. With such great posters, you get tired of lurking after a while. :)
If I can manage to eek out a win with the Spanish using the medmod on hard, I'm going to make a post documenting my empire's rise to glory. :medievalcheers:
A big welcome to all the new members at the Org!
Yes Welcome all! watch out for those pesky barbarians :P

Hello, just became a member today. I have been reading and visiting the forums for a while, well since before RTW came out. I finally decided to join after reading so many strategies, and just having questions about them. I also do a little light modding to MTW.
Anywho, I am from Brazil, but live in Florida now for 14 yrs, and I am 26.
Welcome Aetius22! I to am living in Florida.

Hi, No new posts in here for a few months but I'll introduce myself anyway. My name is Josh, Julii Josh. I'm from Atlanta Georgia. Had Rome TW for about a year now, but just started playing it heavy for the last month or so. I'm addicted to it I'll have to admit. Got a few questions to ask but here is not the place and I cant post yet in the other areas, so I'll wait until I become a member. Never played multiplayer yet, I want to beat the single player first, but when I do I'll be sure to look some of you up.
Thanks
Josh
Welcome Julii Josh ~
Until you become a member, you can post any questions here in the Entrance Hall. :rtwyes:
Thanks Craterus
I'm playing the Julii faction on normal difficulty and things are going ok, but I've got several disturbing trends arising. I think the year is around 207 BC. I've wiped out the Gauls and the Spanish. Scipii and I have taken most of the Dacians out and I just took my first Briton settlement.
The cities around my capital, which I haven't changed the location of yet, are very hard to keep happy. I must keep my taxes at low and even give them monthly games sometimes to keep them at 100 happiness. Squalor is pretty high because of population but I dont know of any other way to reduce it besides train peasants and march them to low population settlements and disband them. I've built all the sanitation buildings I can, but these people are almost impossible to please.
Also I'm not getting nearly enough decent governors, and some settlements could benefit from a governor with good management skills. How do I get more governors?
Lastly all the settlements I took from the Gauls in Western Europe are losing money to corruption big time, that and I've got a rebel Army hanging around somewhere causing devastation. I'm going to try to move my capital a little to the West to curb the corruption, and would building watchtowers keep rebel Armies away? Also does enslaving settlements as opposed to extermination and occupation cause rebel armies to appear?
I've found a ton of information in the guides, but just wanted some help with these specific questions.
Thanks for your time.
Joshua

Not a problem, my friend. But you might want to "duplicate" most this post in the Julii thread in RTW Guides.Quote:

You can get governors from Man Of The Hour (MOTH). MOTHs occur when a captain led army achieves a good victory against comparable opponents. These won't always get you MOTHs though. The more effective way of getting governors quickly is to bribe them. Bribe all generals in sight, I'm sure you're probably quite rich at this point, so go for it. They'll be worth the money, I hope ~;)
To combat corruption, move your capital to the most central point of your empire. Watchtowers won't stop rebel armies appearing, they'll just let you know where they are. I'm not sure about the effects of "occupy/enslave/exterminate" on rebel armies, but I think that might just be random.
Hope I helped. And once again, welcome to the forums ~ I hope you're enjoying yourself.

Thanks for the info. I will try it out now.
Not a problem.
And Good Luck!
howdy, one and all. found this place after getting MTW a while back, and it's gotten me through some of the worst times (Parthia...). i'm chris, known to friends as 'Old Man'. as a historian and strategy gamer, i've been an avid total war fan since i bought the medieval collectors set two years ago...i think it was...:P
anyway, before i ramble more and bore you all, i'll just say that i'm here to jump in on some of the strategy threads; but also, i'm hoping that, eventually, i can get some help tweaking rome's unit roster. even with the guides here, i've only succeeded in crashing the game after god knows how many hours failing. so this is me in a nutshell
Howdy nutshell...er, GrandInquisitor, welcome to the Org ~

Hail everyone!
I`m a new convert to MTW,and addicted.Simple as that.
Only on my second campaign(BYZ) I hope to complete some of the harder factions on higher levels and then ideally play online.
Grand site by the way,I`ve read some of the tales that people experience with different factions so obviously i`ll be boring you with a complete history of my first ever campaign on easiest level very soon.(in right section!)
Nice to have you aboard, VeroImperatoreDiRoma!

Hail, VeroImperatoreDiRoma.
Thanks everyone! Onor`e valore:knight:
I have to give credit,I`m amazed by the content of the forums.
I was unaware of the golden horde`s impact on the game until I read the relevant thread(I`m byzantine and it`s 1213) so I could count myself lucky.
Unfortunately haven`t mastered the basic skill of saving the game regularly yet and late last had one of those "just one more year" moments and was sucked into a hour long battle (pause happy) and therefore later to bed than I already was.................ok enough!
Hope to see you all soon.
sup brotha's i have never played this medieval game before and i need to know its style SHNIGAWOW!!
