shame on me :embarassed:
wow....we are getting dominated this is devastating...fuckin egypt
No worries, navarro951
I sent a PM to Roka apprising him of the situation (he has the next battle), so we don't get stuck with this auto-resolve BS this time.
yeah! f**kin' eh! damn egypt... takin all our victories! HOW DARE YOU!!!!! *viciously points finger at the dirty egyptians*
He can't retreat anymore, right?
What has actually happened? Has the Ptolemaic army that I-K moved away come back, or have they sent another one, the city looked more than takeable "when I could see." I guess this shows that lots of medium sized armies are not the way to launch an invasion...
Could someone be so kind as to post a picture of Lykikos traits for me?
They sent several armies... at least that'S what it looked like to me... the had a big army attacking 00jebus (the battle he lost) and then another big army attacked Roka, who retreated... a smaller army attacked LordofUmbar (autoresolved and lost) and now it seems one of the bigger armies is going after Roka
Celtic_Punk and navarro951 - don't use that kind of language in here, please. This is a warning. If this would have been TC who would have noticed it then things could get serious.
About the ptolemaioi armies, yes they are the ones I removed near Hierosolyma. But it seems they came back. Last time there were 3 armies: 2 Captain led armies and 1 with three generals in it.
And yes, Roka, can't retreat anymore. He have to fight the battle - and he have to win if he wants to keep his avatar alive!
johnhughthom, I have updated most of the Royal Library, check his traits there.
the battle roka has to fight can be won. but its a hard fight
Well things are falling apart in Gaza, I hope that Roka can escape if he loses. is the computer fighing agressivly cos if it is we'll lose Damaskis. I didn't know they could exceed 20 units per army. Well I'm brave but not suicidal I won't send my Avater to die against impossible odds. I'll send him to antiochiea if I get no troops. he can operate form there.
Not of victory. I think best outcome would be to kill 2 of their generals/ family members. Our forces combined would be stood a chance but now I think they wouldn't even hold back a siege.
YES WE CAN :laugh4:
no, seriously. I tried to fight the battle. It is possible to win, but you have to study the terrain and make the most of it and you have to employ all advantages of your different troops and cover their weak points. Then it is possible - despite probably unavoidable great losses - to crush the enemy

After this battle there will be no more attack, so he could initiate an ordered retreat to a near town and prepare defense lines against moving up enemies. (PS: the 2 family members did not die in this fight, they routed. But our General did not die either, though he did a great amount of the fighting, as you can see)
GOOD LUCK
Impressive SB, only a clear victory though? What are the Ptolemaic armies composed of?
Well done mate. Now I hope Roka can achieve tha same.
congrats - lets just hope roka can do the same
and yes.. shouldnt that be heroic? loosing less than 600, killing over 1400
deploying only half the men the enemy had?
i think thats because i did not purchase them and kill them all off. i'm not the one fighting this battle in roleplay, i just tested it and wanted to know if its possible to win. Many survived and none of their generals died. The Ptolemaioi were more then us at the beginning and they were more at the end of the battle. Think they have to be less, to gain a heroic one.
Thats how the Armies are composed of:

their strength are clearly their 3 FM , our strength is the phalanx.
The trick in this battle is the starting position of your army. Stationate it on the right side of the battlefield (right, when you look the same direction like your soldiers), there is a little hill. So you can stationate your troops over there. The phalanx has to look in the same direction as before, but the infantery can cover the left flank and profite by the hillside, while your cav. covers the right flank near the boarderline of the battlefield.
Archers behind the phalanx, slingers in front of them, ready to withdraw. The trick of this position is, that the one part of the enemys armies is further away than the other, so they attack one after the other, when your slingers attract them to, and cannot consolidate..
and do not waste your cavallery on their light spearmen.
This is impressive!
Hope that Roka can see this before he fights the battle. Basileus does not want his army to be destroyed! Well, his brother should stay alive as well
I hope he comes to fight the battle at all :sweatdrop:
We should send the lydian army south i think. Pontus wont be a problem really, but Ptolemy is pissed at us lol
Love the posts in the story thread SwissBarbar, looks like we are going to have a mini AAR within WoTB.:2thumbsup:
Reminds me, whats happening with your AAR I-K? Haven't updated in a while...
thanks johnhughthom :beam:
Let me just apologize for my language (serious about that too...just angry you know Ibn?) But ya i have faith Roka should come to meet the challenge cause that victory even if it is marginal HAS to be won. And yes i need to retrain my men but i will be marching the Lydian army south indeed...as we all seem to agree, Pontus can wait.

EDIT: Tried it out...not great a minor defeat, but i have faith it can be won. See the first army is no problem it was the second army that just is simply to many so it will take a miracle and a little more planning...i sorta went out on a limb here so good luck...p.s. am i aloud to do this? I cant see a rule for it but I cant find one against it either...
As I suppose, this is the chatroom off the game, here you can test the battles if you want. but whats posted here is not part of the roleplay and suggestions about the game are not to be discussed here, neither will our tries to win this battle be discussed in the council because in the roleplay-world of the Arche Seleukeia this thread here does not happen at all. This here is US, not our Characters.
so feel free to test the battle and find out how to win it. But in the end there is only one, not replacable person, who can fight it so it counts.
thats my opinion, hope thats right
suggestion: try something extremely uncommon and don't use your phalanx as a center but put them at the flanks.

make it an angled formation. the center-spearmen have to stand deeply scaled.
could work when they are stupid enough.
SwissBarbar is right, you can post it. These kinds of suggestions are helpful sometimes. But everything said OOC will stay OOC, it can not be used against you IC.
johnhughthom, yeah, you are right, I haven't updated it for quite some time now. :shame:
Anyway, I conquered those cities in North-West Africa, had another Iberian campaign, started war with the Ptolemies. I'm in 253BC.
I have updated the Library. I added Battle points and current rank in here.
If there are mistakes in it then let me know.
Looks like the best way to get higher rank is to go Parthaya since there seems to be a lot of Rebels!
look, here's the original assembly of the battle, harrharr, i'm crazy but i love such detail-plans :inquisitive: :laugh4: :inquisitive: :laugh4: :inquisitive: :laugh4:

every point is a warrior, till the very last man
@ I-K i have a question based on my knowlege of english: what are these "Senate sessions the player has voted in", i must have missed that point. or is this the royal council?
Roka you should definitely write a battle report story for this one. call it like the meat grinder or something, and dont talk much in the council or something lol. He'll be like a nam veteran, just sits in the back of a room staring off. "THIS ISNT NAM, THERE ARE RULES!!!!"
EDIT: did you guys see my new balloon? I got it because I learnt how to use an English Longbow from a young age LOL
Well Roka has to first survive it to be a veteran ;)
ROKA! Where are you?!
