Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
With war now declared between The Moorish Sultanate and the Kingdoms of Scandinavia and Swabia, let it be known that the Sultan ordered his forces to hold back from seizing Antwerp and Strazbourg so that the war may begin on an even and fair footing. The Sultan firmly believes that his honorable foes will not take advantage of this honorable move, and shall abide by the agreement that they may gather their forces so as to be prepared for war, but shall strike no blow against the moors this season, just as the Moors refrained from doing.

The kingdoms of Scandinavia and Swabia have shown their true colors, and have immediately declared that they shall not honor the one season truce. Many good moorish soldiers shall fall because of their treachery, but the world shall be their judge.
As to their claims that the Moors broke the peace. Yes, we have moved troops into position for the war to begin, but that was the purpose of the truce, to allow both sides to take positions, rather than to have Moorish troops simply attack without warning. Well, we shall see if their treachery can give them the edge they shall so greatly need in the coming war.

Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
@Myth, @slysnake - you realise this war we're embarking on is a replay of the 2nd world war
I am the british in egypt, NB is the US in algiers and france.
Myth is Mussolini and sly that makes you......

Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Well, I think it is more like sly and rex combined are... :)
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
We have different visions of "truce". One does not simply march into enemy territory before war starts and especially when truce is on set. It's elemental, dear sir's. (According to my mind of course...):clown:
NB couldn't attack those fortified cities of Bern and Staufen. Not sure about Antwerp and Cologne, probably would had fallen. Nice try though!
I personally would had left Moors to have some jolly time before declaring war... But well, no-one gives a cookie anymore since we have become as "bad guys" :P
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Hah, I could indeed attack those settlements. I had siege equipment within range and could have captured them, but as I had hoped this war might be more of a formality than a fight to the death, I offered a chance to fight no equal terms. Yes, some of my troops crossed just over the border, but they held back from doing any damage. Additionally, you were the first to breach border rights. The moors complied with your request to remove all agents from your territory, but you did not do the same, but kept your spies spread throughout our lands. We know you did this.
I hardly think that stepping a just over the border in the middle of the mountains can be called a breach of a treaty to allow fair preparation for war in the following season. This was not a deal to maintain the niceties of friends, but to allow for fair preparation. Allowing both sides to move troops into advantageous positions was the purpose o this agreement. You are simply grasping at straws so that you can attempt to claim legitimacy in breaking your sworn oath.
OOC, I really didn't intend to be doing anything against it, I think we had different ideas of what the treaty meant though. As for not feeling a need for war, you are the one who declared it. The Moors asked for peace, and you refused,

Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
lol! I hope so. I'm sure that this will be a good fight though. In OOC, I look forward to it, and good luck to you! (just not too much luck)

Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Where did I put my Holy Hand-grenade?
Denmark up. @RexLegend
So, being attacked by the Fatamids and Moors in unison. No IC reason for the Moors to do so but whatever. So many navies and armies, i really hope the other fronts are weakened because of them.
A good thing to note is that the majority of the Muslim armies are crude spear milita units that suck gold away and die horribly versus elites even when the latter are AI lead. Come now, and meet my men of steel. See how your turban wearing peasants fare against them.
Oh, and that navy consisting of three Fatamid ships has been defeated and can't move net turn.
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
What do you mean no IC reason? My IC reason is exactly the same as that of the Fatimids, I simply let them handle the negotiations.
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
You knew from the start I'd never give Africa away without a trade. I said we can resume negotiations after the ERE is gone, I never promised I'd give you or them these lands after the war. But you know what'd be funny? If I gave one or the other all my African holdings in exchange for peace and an alliance. Since both of you want them, what would you do? Plus, Monkey still holds Jerusalem so he is closer to winning than you are.
If I gave him these provinces to "return them to the Muslim fold" then what will the Moors do? You'll have to fight him sooner or later if you want to win :laugh4:
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Tunisia and west would go to me, but if you handed those over, and you and your allies were willing, I would sign peace.
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
And would you sit idly by, watching as we maul the Fatamids into oblivion?
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
No, I had thought you meant we all make peace.
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
So basically I give you 1/3 of my kingdom to get everyone in peace so that you can raise better armies and larger fleets and attack me or my allies later?
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Who says I would attack later? But essentially yes. We demand North Africa, but have no reason to fight you if you give it up.
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
I rather think it necessary if this game will end at all.

Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Fatimid turn! @phonicsmonkey
Tough turn...
@Nightbringer : Curses on you for being careful putting armies on right tilts :P
I think @slysnake forgot to mention that Scandinavia and Swabia have declared war on Poland to take certain territories from them. I suggest Poland to contact with us if he wants peace.
Took over Poland's fort and seized Wroclaw.
Declared war on @Zim 's England since he didn't respond to my diplomatic message. Conquered Aberdeen and Bruges. Took out another English almost-full-stacked fort. Happy searching guys!
Will post something in diplomacy thread soon.
Happy hunting monkey! :)
EDIT: Oh right, some fleets were sunk. Just sayin'

Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Whow, a lot of action starting.
And just now I will be traveling for a couple of days and not return until Tuesday evening.
Probably my turn won't come up until then, but if it does, I will be happy for Mithridate to sub me as usual.
GL and HF during the weekend, guys.

You didn't really think I would trust you? Did you? I take it then that no Moorish armies were destroyed?

Answer is no for both questions. Have a nice turn!
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
No meaning no armies destroyed, or as in no, I did in fact destroy armies. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to be patient.
-
Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
On the subject of patience, I just wanted to let you guys know that I have started playing the turn but might need another couple of days to finish it as I'm only home for about an hour or so a day at the moment. Hope you don't mind me taking an extension!

Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Perfidious Danes. Having troops ready to swoop on Aberdeen says enough about their intentions, though.
I didn't answer the pm yet because things have been busy in real life. Also, why waste words trying to prevent an already planned attack. Better to settle it on the battle field. :charge:

Re: The March of Time - A Stainless Steel 6.4 hotseat
Ok, found a chance to finish things on this turn.
@slysnake, Admiral Tusco cannot move or be attacked next turn
also, I see a lot of ballistae in your forts and settlements - just a reminder that according to the rules these cannot open the gates of anything, even forts...
@Myth, Admiral Roberto cannot move next turn
@Rougeman, Cumans are up!
