Promotions to Senior Patron

Also, and I hate to be a bother, but how long do I need to wait to become a senior patron. To my knowledge I haven't caused any of these, http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...cons/argue.gif , and I've posted quite a bit. I would like to be able to get my wings http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ons/smokin.gif and move around a bit, if that's okay. Thanks.

Im Tim Deeming (aka DuckofWar aka Antigonid aka TimD), 45 years old, living in Bewdley - one of the most beautiful small towns in England - on the banks of the river severn (englands longest river).

I am a clan Elder (I was elected I didnt lamely form my own clan) and forum moderator for the 'Lamertamers' clan (now renamed to LTGamers).

I used to be the Forum Mod and Chat mod for a 10,000 person online community. (www.sundayleague.com)

I do a little 'fun' artwork (www.dukz.co.uk) on my own site and have designed hundreds of 'siggy' images for ppl.

I am a regular poster at the .com but am incredibly dissatisfied with the juvenile content of the forums there and the immoderate moderators.

I view these forums very regularly but am hampered in my inputting to them by the wierd 'access' rules that you guys apply.

Can you please put me out of my misery and allow me access to the main forums?

Alternately I'd be happy to donate a kidney if that helps to 'sway' your decision....

I joined this forum because the .com was a little more fractious too. This is a much better environment, less flaming and general weirdness, also the mods don' lock every third thread.

Hello Antigonid. Thanks for giving us a try. That is a nice resume you have there. Oh, and no kidney is required of you.

If you can tolerate our weird posting policies for a few days and participate in topics here in the Entrance Hall, you won't need to worry about them ever again. The idea is the discourage troublemakers and drive-by flamers/spammers from getting into our main forums. There is a wide variety of topics here in the Entrance Hall as nothing is really off-topic here. We've got everything from how to do screen shots in game to mod comments/questions to a post about religious beliefs. If there isn't a topic here for you, start your own. If you do need to respond to something in another forum, post it here and ask the moderators to copy it to the appropriate topic.

There is no magic post count or time period to get a promotion to post in the other forums. Nor do you have to ask us moderators nicely for a promotion. For most patrons it takes about 1-4 days.

Dhepee, the check was already in the mail when you asked us nicely for a promotion. You had to wait a long time because you've posted a lot and we moderators have been busy with real life issues of late. The when of a promotion is often a timing issue. You had to wait a few days, while LestaT got bumped up in 1 day. It is not that LestaT is better than you, he happened to join and post right before we reviewed the list of Junior Patrons.

BTW, if you thank me for a promotion, you must thank others too. My fellow moderators Kukri and MonkeyMan and I must agree to a promotion before we pass it on to Tosa, who has the fun of actually making the promotion.

Polls were originally resticted for fear of everyone going poll-crazy. Tosa eased that restriction after the forum readme was composed.

Can I be promoted to senior patron? I thought I had the matter resloved when I exchanged messages with Gregoshi, but I dont know what happen.. Question for the Mods, well two questions.

I had earlier asked Gregoshi about polls and he said that the restrictions were eased, but I find that I can't post them anymore, being a senior patron. Is the restriction back to junior members and above?

Because this moron of a moderator thought he collected your name when you first posted here but managed not to do so (I make a list of each new patron as I read their first post).

Aside from the fact that I have the attention span of a gnat and the memory of a Commodore 64, the only lame, rice paper thin excuse I can provide is that this last promotion list was one of the longest we've had in a loooong time and it was easy to overlook one name missing from the list.

Is promotion based done individually or in groups according to a set schedule?

No set schedule. We can put out promotion lists daily if the moderators' lives allow it or about twice a week like it is currently. The number of Junior Patrons on a promotion list depends upon how many we feel we've evaluated enough. Sometimes there is one patron on the list, sometimes a dozen. In the past month there has been a large influx of new patrons. Anyone have an theories as to why? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...s/confused.gif
