Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
But he is on the family tree. He has a little bit of a history but he wouldn't be too hard to take in another direction. He still seems pretty viable to me. He's not much older than RK's last avatar so there won't be too much of a change in situation. It would just be a different house and with a little bit of a back-story to consider.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
I have a small window of availability for playing the game this evening, otherwise it will have to wait until tomorrow morning.
Rest assured that it will be completed well within the 48 hours.
Condolences to RoadKill. I know what it's like to lose a promising avatar.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
I think Helmut von Hamburg is one of our most interesting avatars on paper:
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showp...75&postcount=8
I mean: seethes with anger, unjust, dubious, overly suspicious, no nonsense .... Surely someone could have a blast role-playing that? (Or maybe I have just become warped by role-playing the Lewd). It is true that his character has not been developed much by players, but that just makes him more attractive to pick up IMO as you have more artistic licence.
Are you interested, Roadkill?

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
He also has a very interesting family tree. His father had secretly planned on becoming Duke and seceding Franconia from the Reich. One of his brothers-in-law joined the Russian army and was killed by the Duke of Bavaria. His brother is a "slightly" controversial King of Outremer. His cousin (by adoption) is a "slightly" controversial Kaiser. He has another brother-in-law and three more cousins (by adoption) that are all unique individuals.
We're a fun group! "Slightly" deranged and dysfunctional but fun! :2thumbsup:

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
I do not mind taking him, but I would like to finish with that character before Wheilm's sons comes of age to battle. Would that be possible? Wheilm's son is going to be one polish-hating general, I have many ideas to use Wheilm's son, so as long as this general dies off before Wheilm's son is able to be used.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
You can easily kill your character off. It's been done at least three times before (Leopold, Ulrich Hummel, Conrad Salier).

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
Well, he was just born so you got awhile till he comes of age at 16. If Helmut is 40 or so now, he'll be close to natural death by the time the son comes up. Of course, someone else might grab the son if their avatar dies or if a new player joins. Its the chance you take. I don't think we call dibs on people years in advance but that is more a question for Econ who is in charge of avatar dispersal.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
Very young, a turn old? Basically he just got born when Wheilm died. By the way, is that kid a girl or a boy? I can't tell the difference from the name.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
I thought it was a boy but I can't access the save because I'm at school.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
Okay, I'll take the old fart for a while, until Wheilm's son comes of age, please no one take him.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
Actually Roadkill I would suggest you take a simple Austrian General. Franconia is overcrowded, and the leaving of Kage kinda balances things out.

You can't change him into another direction really.
Partly because I've got some stories finished which are to be posted when Ansehelm returns back to the Reich, I would hate it if I would have to change Helmuts role from a hater of Outremer and his brother into the opposite.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
Well, an unused viable avatar is an unused resource. If we have an unused avatar, and a avatar-less player, it makes sense to match them up if RK and Econ agree.
As for Helmut's direction, that becomes the decision of the player if someone picks him.
He's old but he's not too old. Especially since he is now the only spare left until one of the kids grow up.

I agree, but Helmut does have a history, you can't simply go the other way.
Sides you can't go the other way, you are restricted to the traits an avatar has, you can't change those.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
I choose to play Jan pretty close to his traits but not everyone here plays that way. Some people ignore them entirely. Some pick and choose. I like sticking pretty close but even I fudge them a little sometimes. Its personal preference really.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
So do I take helmut or not?
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
Sad to see you take a break, Kagemusha!
I really enjoyed the times we played together, both your characters played an important role for Leopold, and for Austria. I can understand though that you take a break if your heart's not really in it. Have fun!

Thats between you and econ. Same with you calling dibs on the baby. Thats econ's call too. Some of us may have our opinions on the matter but Econ's the GM and he is the sole authority on who gets what avatar.

So do I, tho sometimes I change little things. But Jan will have recongized that Ansehelm likes no-one but himself ~D

All right - you take him.
You might want to PM Stig to find out how Helmut has been played so far and to liase over Duke Ansehelm's plans for the Helmut. Helmut is knighted, so you are eligible to command in battle from the get go. But be careful of those Poles!
Remind me about the son when he comes of age and we will work something out.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
sorry, RK. just ask me and iggy, iggy was the first one to die randomly, or at all (assassinated) and i had ehrhart die in battle with jonas commanding. it made for a great battle report, but im glad i have peter. with 7 command, courage traits, 8 dread, and 10 loyalty, he makes for a very interesting character.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
From having put the latest stories in the history, I've noticed that Warluster has resurrected Dieter von Darnstadt. Unfortunately he died sometime in the past few years, if we are referring to the spy of the same name.
Of course, Warluster could fudge saying that Dieter faked his own death or something.
Also, in reference to Dusan, didn't Linyeve and Elberhard capture him earlier?
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
Yeah, but it seems they let him go. I only used Dusan with Econ's permission. I just didn't put it in spoilers because it was such a minor point. I did the same with GH in regards to Hermann. I always ask before I use someone's creative property.
*edit*
both permissions are in spoilers in their respective stories now

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
So do I role-play as Helmut now?
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
Yeah, econ gave the nod. You might want to work with Stig on your back-story. I would say your not tied to it or anything.
But, if you want to be consistent, Stig is pretty much your best bet since your two avatars have spent years together slogging through the Russian wilderness.
I play your avatar's brother so we can definitely interact if you want. Your character definitely didn't like mine though so how you want to run with that is up to you.
If you want, I can pm you OOC and fill you in on some von Hamburg family history.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
RK,
Go and grab Helmut. Stig can fill you in and it will be good to get an established story on a senior noble.
So it's down to me, Cecil and Northnovas again.
Quite amazing really.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
yeah, but its only short term. Austria is doing awesome in the baby department relative to the other houses. It was the long term we were worried about for awhile. The massive number of avatar deaths seem to have kicked the "heir and a spare" mechanics into high gear.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread XII
I know but none for Arnold!!!
All I want is one little baby boy!! :wall:
