Don't forget her Dread Eunich...
I know this is like a one out of billion chance, but what happens if we spawn an Alexandros ek Kallipoleos? Is whoever may be picking from amongst the avatars banned from selecting said Avatar? Or is he immediately exiled?
Well, we'd exile the second Aleksander just for being statistically improbable. . . .
Or we could use common sense, that might work. :idea2:
Yea, I am just saying, IC plot wise, it might seem...weird, to have another Alexandros running around...
Let's pretend he is a distant cousin...
I say we give him to ATPG and tell him to be "creative"...
No problem. Just send me an OOC PM to remind me so I can file it away for later. If Ituralde doesn't make the move, I will. :2thumbsup:Quote:

So, I will take the save back tomorrow at 4:30PM US CT or 9:30PM GMT.
I know there are battles being contemplated so if people need more time than that, let me know.
I'll place the deadline at the end of my report for this turn for reference.
Tristan you're city is about to revolt, so you better get someone in there double time.
Working on it soon... :2thumbsup:
I notice our new spy Photios has a familiar mustache...

Fancy a change of avatar Tincow?
Speaking of whom, can I have your authorization to use his colleague (named Apionnas :laugh4:) and send him in Cairo before I lay siege ?
Thx
I'm getting a Heart of Darkness vibe from Vissarionas now, but is he Harlow or Kurtz?
We won't know until he gets to Dongola, if he gets to Dongola. :laugh4:
As long as he doesn't turn out to be Dennis Hopper's character from Apocalypse Now, I'll be cool with it.
:egypt:
Hey AG, Game on! :guitarist:
Gah! Will no one return my PM's? :inquisitive:
I'm a bit annoyed that I wasn't consulted about flyd's latest story. I would like to be privy to any stories concerning my character.
Ok, sorry. I didn't realise that it was a dream. My apologies.
I saw that AG, and then I watched that below average Redskins D stall the Giants drive after drive. Plenty of yards, solid running game, and yet not enough punch to put a bad team down. The Giant's short passing game was unsteady all night, and killed drives the whole second half.
On the other side, Jason Campbell looked scared after the first quarter, and Clinton Portis looked frustrated. Can't help but think the 'skins are short on leadership. Twice they had good chances to go for it on 4th and short and they punked out with the game on the line.
:egypt:
I agree for the most part. But it's week one. Who's going to dominate in this league week in week out?
I was happy with our D the whole game and with our O for the first half. I'll take that on week one anytime. Even more pertinent was that the D has 5 new starters and they were much better than the O. I see the O getting better over time.
The second half drives were killed by the two sacks and the INT.
*looks over current page of thread*
:dizzy2:
I'm assuming the new army rules start as of next session.
They have to be enacted by a CA first. I posted that so that we can start discussing it, with an expected implementation at the next Senate session (1140 AD).
OK I thought so.
Ahh, but I don't expect dominance, especially not within your division. I do expect, however, consistency, and IMHO the Giants offense lacked it last night, especially in their short passing game. I would argue that both sacks were set up by the lack of success passing against the middle of the 'skin's D, though it's always a matter of interpretation so I may just be pushing an agenda. :laugh4:
All that being said, a W is a W the world around. Everything else is just prep work for the next game. And, of course, I'm not a Giants or Redskins fan, so I look for what makes them beatable more than what makes them good.
I sincerely hope that Jason Campbell gets it together. I think he's got a solid arm and with some consistent coaching he could be a good QB. Somehow I'm not sure he'll find anything worth the name 'consistent' while he's on Chainsaw Dan's team though.
:egypt:
Understood Ramses.
Dan Snyder just does not get what "Team" sports are about.
Anyway...back to the originally scheduled programming. :clown:
As an early warning, I will be on vacation in Italy from September 18th through October 2nd. I'm sure I could find internet access while over there if I wanted to, but I don't particularly want to. So, I will almost certainly be completely AWOL for those two weeks. While I am gone, GeneralHankerchief will be filling in as GM.
TC,
You have to get to Como if you can possibly help it. This time of year is just amazing!!
TC,
Go AWOL and enjoy yourself and STAY disconnected like the old days. You will feel better when you get back!!!
Yeah, enjoy your time off.
We'll try not to wreck the Magnaura/Empire too much (I will, at least).
You guys do realize that he isn't leaving for almost two weeks...
:clown:
Yes I realize that but it was his language maybe I can get online. That's not good for a man that needs a vacation. It's taking the 2 weeks to get into vacation mode and go. Enjoying your time away and living in the moment, Italian food, wine and scenery. A nice combination to disconnect from the world. :2thumbsup:
Very true. He should totally disconnect. Luckily for him, he doesn't have an avatar. It seems that when players with avatars take a vacation, they come back to find that their vassal massacred 6000 people or that their super secret plan to become a dictator got published in the Magnaura Times.
:clown:
I've been to Italy before, but this is my wife's first trip so we're keeping it simple with Rome and Florence. I'm mainly a 'cultural' tourist, in that I like sitting in cafes, drinking wine and eating food most of the time, but you do have to see the 'sights' the first time you go to a place, so we've got to do the usual for my wife's sake. We've got a nice rooftop flat rented for about 10 days in Rome and the rest in a decent hotel in Florence.
For next year we're thinking Bordeaux, though I keep yearning for spring in the English countryside. That was going to be our destination this year, but at the time we were ready to buy the plane tickets the exchange rate kept us away. That entire trip was going to planned around a night at the Fat Duck. We'll get there sometime. :2thumbsup:
The Fat Duck now that sounds like my kind of place. We had planned a September trip to Britain it would have been my first trip over there and I wanted to see castles and drink in every Fat Duck, Skinny Goose or Drinking Ewes establishment but something else came up we decided to pursue so I will have to wait a bit more. Well get there sometime soon... I have worked too hard to keep waiting. :sweatdrop:
Sounds good to me TC. Both cities are wonderful...as you know.
Ahh, the coffee...hmmmm
Can someone tell me if you can hit Esc to save on the game on the sack/occupy scroll ?
Cairo is a victory but I'd like to be able to save on that screen before deciding what I should do with it...
EDIT : the reason I'm asking is that when it revolted and kicked us out that killed around 6000 people or near enough, so PO shouldn't be a problem to occupy it but sacking should net around 18000 florins... Cruel dilemma...
I'm sorry if that sounds like meta-gaming (and maybe is) but I'd like to know beforehand what I'm to expect before I get kicked out a second time because we can't keep order...
Just sack it. Methodios have a lot of experience in that! :laugh4:
I won't do it if it might cost me another province...
Methodios must be the avatar who had the most provinces sift through his hands : Durazzo, Zagreb, Scopia...
With the new army rules, he'd be King of the World (or almost...) :clown:
Pick one and give me the save back... :brood:
I've gotten some flack around here for playing ahead back when the game started. When you get the option screen when you take a city, just pick one of them and eat the IC consequences.
wilco
Because of the Mamluks I lost Efstathios.. Just like you said.. If it wasn't for them, it would have been a walk in the park and perhaps Efstathios would be still alive.Quote:
Battle report due sometime tomorrow if all goes well... More losses than I would have wanted but those Mamluks sure are pests... If it wasn't for them, it would have been a walk in the park...
Yeah... Those maces are :wall: :smash:
Well, at least this time Nikiphoros can't do anything...
Edit: alone, that is. We'll see how the other Senators react.
Catch me if you can (to quote Di Caprio...) :laugh4:
Unfortunately Nikiphoros isn't affiliated with the FBI (or rather IBI - Imperial Bureau of Investigation)...
Due to the massive scale of the event, and the fact that 18000 florins just made it's way into the Imperial Treasury, I am going to assume Mak has IC knowledge of the sacking.
No problem.. It is all up in the battle report but the number of casualties has been edited out...
You can fool me once...
Who says Methodios will allow any Census Board people in Cairo ?
The exact number might not be known but I believe I would know about a "rough estimate." That city was 22000 before and is now 19000. So, around 3000 were killed. It is difficult to do that in total secret.
Maybe if you were in Arquin or the New World...
I think it is not a huge leap of imagination to assume that we would know that Methodios killed "thousands."
:beam:
You better hope no-one here is Jewish PK...
South Park is equally offensive to all peoples, that's what makes it so great.
Well.. What would Vissa say when he hears that Cairo is claimed by Methodios. Vissa is still the 'Lord of Cairo' methinks. Will we see Civil War soon? :clown:
Vissa lost it to the rebels... whatever the game says... Methodios remained Lord of Zagreb long after he sold it to the Hungarians
Anyway, with Visa looking from the source of the Nile, I can imagine Methodios meeting Vissa some years from now : "Doctor Ek Lesvou, I presume ?" :laugh4:
Vissa did indeed lose it due to the above rule. Methodios Tagaris is the current owner of Cairo.Quote:
2.2 – Gaining and Losing Provinces: Except as stated in Rule 2.7, Senators gain control of all provinces they personally conquer. In the event that multiple Senators are part of the conquering army, the Senator controlled by the player who actually fought the battle is considered the conqueror. If the battle is autoresolved, the commanding Senator is considered the conqueror. If no Senator is involved in the battle whatsoever, the Basileus is considered the conqueror. At the start of the game, TinCow will determine which Senators receive control of the starting provinces, to a maximum of one province per Senator. Senators can only lose control of one of their provinces if they voluntarily give it to another Senator, if it is conquered by an AI faction, or if it is occupied by the army of a Senator who has made a Declaration of War against them (See Section 5).
Err, if Vissa is still Lord of Cairo that's a bug. The title should poof when the city rebels.
Plus Vissa is waaaay down in his own crud at the moment, and likely won't even notice Cairo was retaken.
:egypt:
The game doesn't remove the titles when the city is lost. I did that manually for Zagreb. I'll change the Cairo one next time I take the save.
Next thing I will steal from Ramses, will be his Egypt smiley... Seems fitting...
:egypt:
Who do I request to change a title holder over - or can I do it myself when I am in a province?
It is either Tincow or you can do it yourself if you're in the same province and both the person holding it and you are in agreement over who should hold the title...
If I understood correctly what you're asking...
If yuo have any doubts, asking TC is your best bet...
I think it says in the rules somewhere that you can do it yourself, you don't need to be in the same province if you are familiar with the console, there are even instructions on how to switch titles by console in the how to be a Megas guide. This is assuming you have permission from the person to have that province, or if someone else currently holds your rightful title of course.
