Some of my units look and move a bit strangely in the game, especially my Swedish units. Many of them dont march normally, but sort of aim, stand, aim, stand while sliding forwards. Some of my units can't be seen properly from certain angles.. Is this because the mod is unfinished, or may be something I've done wrong? Also, most troops don't leave a corpse behind they just vanish into thin air. The ones that do, they always have a green boy, no matter what colour their uniform was in real life...I guess they decompose rather quickly http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif

I'm surprised that this time you're using weapons attached by coordinates rather than having them already rendered. They look great but I'm just curious to why you decided to change it to this method.
Holy cow, this mod is really shaping up nicely. The new tech tree is fantastic and does an excellent job of bringing the gameplay into the 19th century. The new units look sharp as well, and I'm hoping there will be a few more unique units in your final version.
The only complaint I can lodge is that is naval portion of the game still seems unbalanced. Some sea routes are so clogged with dozens of foreign fleets that you can easily lose track of relative naval strengths.
Bravo Lordz, you've added even more gameplay to perhaps the greatest tactical combat strategy game ever created. You have my sincere thanks.

I just got this Mod (version 3.x) and tt doesn't seem to be working correctly. None of the faction names appear, and campain doesn't work at all. I started with VI with the patch, then installed N:TW. Does anyone know what I did wrong? I would love to play the whole (working) mod

Did you install it over a previous version of the mod? I think on the Lordz's site it says that it's just a patch... It probably needs beta 2.
Also you are in VI 2.01, right?
I guess you havn´t the english version right?
if not do the same as in HTW:
If you don´t have the English version of MTW: Open your Loc-folder in your new MTW main directory.
After you have installed NTW you´ll get an Eng-folder in this Loc-folder.
Open it and copy all files from it to your language folder: As an example from the Eng-folder to the German-folder.

The problem is that I do have the English version, and I installed it on VI with the 2.01 patch. I hadn't done anything to it (no mods, etc).
Can you think of anything else?

Thanks to all at the Lordz, I downloaded and tried the mod last night and am very impressed. The brand new tech tree is a bit overwhelming for a first timer, but I aim to persevere.
I've had a bit of trouble installing the music add-ons, though. Everything seems to go fine until I try to extract the music to a wav file, in the music directory, using the supplied extractor. All the files complain that they cannot be extracted (I can't remember the error, cos I'm at work http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...embarassed.gif ). Should I try extracting them straight from the zip file...or is something else wrong. I am longing to hear the sounds of battle in my ears again

I'm installing the music, using the mp3extractor but when I try to extract the .wav from the .mp3 I get the error message Error when decoding, convert not complete.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

the converter didn't work for me either. It`s crap, sorry to say that. But there are a lot of free converters out there. Just google them.
Btw, do you have Nero or a similar burning program?
Those progs can do it too, via File-encoding.

a google seacrch for 'mp3 to wav converter' yeilds many trial versions of these tools, take your pick :)
heres one that i tried - only has 30 conversions but tht should suffice.

for those that have Nero Burning Rom, i believe it comes with Nero Wave editor, load your mp3 tunes into this application and 'Save as' [tune name].wav

Hey yall. I tried installing NTW a while back in its infancy, but it didn't work...alas In any case I'm ready to give it another go and can't wait to play it.
I'm slightly confused however. I see there is a upgrade to 3.x but do i need 2.09? I hope not since it just says Upgrade coming soon when i click on the 2.09 link. Of course I'm downloading v2 full install right now.

I found the FAQ about installing on the Lordz site a little confusing. It starts off by saying you need to install four things - full install, two patches, then v3. However, it ends by saying you can go direct from full install to v3. I am fussing about this because in the forum one poster said going straight from full install to v3 could cause problems.

Thamks, Lord Thindigital, I tried it out today, and Im very impressed. I played the 2.09 previously, but this is so much better graphically and much more detailed.
Just a few things: unit descriptions are missing for a few units (Russian opolchenie, russian uhlans, rus chasseurs, and grenadiers, are the ones I found so far) and also some strange stuff goes on: I am not supposed to be able to build some troops til I build the appropriate buildings, but I am able to do so anyway. (happens with the russian liners).
But VERY good looking mod indeed. The russians arent supposed to build up from the beginning are they?

Hi lads, just saying hello and letting you know about our mod project that might be of interest to you...We are trying to put Napolenic-era naval warfare into the game, instead of having land maps we will have sea-areas controlled by ports, as units we have ships of the line and the 3 classes of frigates, (1st rate warship...etc) at the moment we are limited to what we can do to mirror realism, but this is evolving and we are rising to the challenges. Anyways, if any of you CAN do unit graphics we have a lot of images (from the right angles http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wink.gif ) which can be used, on our little embryonic team we do not have any graphics guys so if anyone IS interested in getting involved then drop us a line. i think they have too much land for their own good, it would really help the variety of the game. There's only like 10 factions.
But otherwise its awsome, it really feels like napoleonic battle lines.Maybe you could make it so that rifles aren't feared by troops, i think they break too quikly.

I'm just having trouble with my Artillery, they are getting 200+ kills per battle, does anyone have a suggestion of what to change the kills/valor level number to to make it harder?

I have found that 4 is too small, I will try 8 then 16.
The Ottoman Empire could indeed be split up. For one thing, the Ottomans did not have any effective power in Africa beyond Egypt, nor did they have in Arabia. The leaders of Egypt and Bagdad (whatever their titles were), although vassals of the Sultan in Istanbul, acted usually on their own initiative. A good example is how the Egyptian leader went bankrupt after organizing a great party at the opening of the Suez-channel; he had to find financial help by the English, who were able to force him into giving his country to the United Kingdom.
To make it even easier, the Egyptian armies were quite different from the Ottomans. They used loads of mounted units; the feared Mameluks were deadly on horseback. Their lack of firepower, however, made them an easy prey for the disciplined squares under control of Napoleon.
