Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
A list of the finalized props can be downloaded HERE.
Proposals for the 1st term of Shophet Abib 272 - Abib 270
Constitutional Proposal 1.1 - [I, Gisgo, Governor of Ippone, do hereby propose] an amendment be added to the constitution requiring a second for any nominee for Shophet before he can be added to the list of those seeking the position.
Constitutional Proposal 1.2 [originally Strategic Proposal 1.11] – Elect a general (hence known as the Magistrate) who shares the Shophet's term.
Constitutional Proposal 1.3 [originally Strategic Proposal 1.11] - Allow the Shophet to nominate a Magistrate in times of urgent need.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Strategic Proposal 1.2 - I [Hanno, Governor of Lepki] would advise to see two levies made in each city of Iberia, in Corsica, in Sardinia, and in Lilybaeum.
Strategic Proposal 1.3 - The city of Lepki will be given the highest priority for construction of choice in the year 272 B.C.E.
Strategic proposal 1.4 – Peace with Epirus provided a payment for troubles caused [restitution] of at least 5.000 (10.000 is better) and Cartogaphy information.
Strategic Proposal 1.6 – building ports followed by the Construction priority to the economical growth of Karalis, Alalia and Lilibeo, by building trade centers, farms, and esecially mines in Karalis as soon as possible.
Strategic Proposal 1.7 – build a better port at Lilibeo to increase our trade value.
Strategic Proposal 1.8 - A small company of levies should be constructed by the cities of Kart-Hadast, Attiqa and Adrumeto, that can be kept between these three provinces.
Strategic Proposal 1.9 - For my province I [Gisgo, Governor of Ippone] would like permission and troops from the senate to move south of my city and take the region south of Ippone.
Strategic Proposal 1.10 - Along the lines of proposal 1.8 i say that roads be built in as many provinces as possible as this will allow the forces in proposal 1.8 to better defend out homeland from any threats that do come!
Strategic Proposal 1.11 - The fleet near Alalia should be the only one not disbanded with the first turn.
Strategic Proposal 1.13 - Constructing civilian ports where the local terrain allows it should have priority over all but the most urgent of needs.
Strategic proposal 1.14 - Encourage growth in Alalia and build up military facilities to support future operations.
Strategic proposal 1.15 - Concentrate all currently availible offensive forces on taking north-west Africa asap.
Strategic proposal 1.16 - Therefore I propose the building of walls in Bocchoris, Alalia, Karali and Ippone.
Strategic proposal 1.17 - Therefore I propose we raise taxes all over our glorious empire.
Strategic proposal 1.18 - I [Hamalcar, Governor of Lilibeo] must requesition the forces from Atiqa, along with one company of Numidian Cavalry from Kart-Hadast itself, to be sent on a voyage to sicily to bolster my forces there, before they sail though, I ask that we train one company of Dorki Leebi-Feenikim Mookdamim (Liby-Phoecians) in Aqita or Kart-Hadast to be sent along with them, to ensure victory.
Strategic proposal 1.19 - I [Hamalcar, Governor of Lilibeo] also ask that our elephants be kept in our service until at least after I have Syracusai.
Strategic Proposal 1.22 - Admiral Thero will be allowed to retain command over a fleet of 26 of our finest warships. All other fleets will be disbanded.
Proposal 1.25 - Take Kirtan,Siga,Lixus and Sala in Mauritania.
Strategic Proposal 1.26 was just too large, so ignore it, as I've decided it's more of a general guideline, and the same thing can be accomplished by voting for the proper proposals.
You'll still find it on the .txt file, but, like I said, ignore it, as I've decided it's simply too large to be considered one proposal, and the same will be accomplished by voting yay for certain proposals and nay for others.
I'm beginning to think that the live meeting, while useful perhaps for stategic discussion, may be somewhat pointless for voting, as it would be just as easy to write a numbered yes/no response in the council thread.
That being said, have this list handy for the meeting, as we'll just move forward as planned. If, as I fear, it's simply too complicated orgaizing 10+ people to get straight answers, we may still offer the live meetings for talk on strategies, etc., and all voting will be held on these boards.
Thanks for your time.

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
what say the rest of the council? i can always remove the post and stick it in here if people think it icky in the council thread and replace it with something else

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
Since I've missed 16 pages of this could someone please sum it up for me?
-
Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
The proposals above quite sum it all besides rules that can be viewed in the first page. To a complete information we have three contenders to be the Sophet (the first player to play the mod for a eigth turns period) who will be trusted to follow, as much as possible, the proposals the rest of the players aproove. Votation is still to happen today

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
It seems that Strategic proposal 1.13 is real similar to 1.6.
-
Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
Yes, you are quite right.
Let it be known that 1.6 will be stricken from the record.
1.15 is broader, and leaves the power in the hands of the Shophet.

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
@leao - i think the difference is 1.6 is a little more towards developing only those 3 cities while 1.13 is a little more general including the development of the whole nation

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
Three very wise Leaders. Hmmmm. I vote for Boru.
@Bootsiuv
I would have voted for you but seeing how busy your schedule was I decided to give you a break. Congrats on the new baby:balloon::balloon2::balloon3::birthday2: ~:joker: ~ :jumping: :hippie: :clown: :crown: :joker: :hippy:

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
Oh! Sory, didn't noticed that! Being so, Great Mago, allow both to remain!
-
Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
No worries....I'm just eager to begin.
Boru - 2
Bootsiuv - 1
Spoofa - 0
I'm sort of hoping that more than three people will vote....if more don't vote, I may just revert to giving governors shophet in turn, as that is a much faster way of moving the game along...

when is the live thing today? or is it already over?

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
2200 GMT SATURDAY EVENING
so the local times would be
NAME AND GMT TIMES / LOCAL TIMES for the meeting
sassem gmt+2 / 0000hrs from saturday to sunday
glenn gmt+10 / 0800 hrs sunday morning
bootsiuv gmt -4 / 1800hrs saturday evening
madmatg gmt -6 / 1600hrs saturday evening
I'm EST which is -4, and I assume CST is -5, although I've heard some say it's -6 (which boggles my mind if I'm -4).
That being said, the time isn't set in stone....once I see that it seems as many are on around those rough times, I'll have whoever has the fastest connection amongst us start a chat room, and invite the people.
I don't foresee having more than a few, but we'll see. I'm not even sure X-Fire will be up to the task, but we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
Sorry for the short notice, in 15 min. i will be making the chat on xfire, so add boru87 if u have not already. Don't worry about being too late as we shall probably still be talking. But the election will be the first thing done, so if you want to take part in that make sure to be there shortly after we start. Thanks and hope to see everyone there! :laugh4:

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
Well...an interesting first live meeting, to say the least. We may rework somethings....too many props apparently.
Sorry folks, this is as new to me as it is to you. I've tried to be organized, but unforeseen problems tend to be unforeseen. :laugh4:
I'm gonna talk with our current Shophet Boru, and we may make a few changes.

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
Don't worry, Pez...I'm glad you didn't get woken up....it was somewhat chaotic. It's fine though.
I may revise a few things regarding proposals, control of land, who controls recruitment etc.
I'm trying to find a balance between playability for the Shophet and interactivity for those who are just playing along.
I'm thinking of making a 2 proposal - per - province limit or something similiar to this, so as to prevent similiar things from happening in the future (I fear our young Boru may have not only felt a little overwhelmed, but also a little unclear as what to do).
It is not an easy thing, really. I'm glad we've encountered these things before are game began.
That being said, the First Term may be put back a few days, with a revised constitution being introduced which may put a limit on how many props are allowed, although I may attempt to give more control to individual governors, so that it feels more like a republic.
To be honest, I am STRONGLY in favor of allowing governors control over their cities forces, which so many seemed to be against when the fiery Hanno said he would not contribute forces to any war effort in Syracousai. I think it is easily represented in-game (if the gov says no troops for this or that, then no troops for this or that).
That being said, I'll likely not include such things because, as others have said, a huge fight could end our game (although it would add a new element to the cooperation of provinces IMO).
Hmmm, lots to say. I think the system we currently have will work well enough, given a few small constitutional amendments.
I think I've alread figured out how to resolve the issues raised today.

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
Governors need to be free to decide about their armies but the cities must be capable of paying for that armies if governors are to decide the fate of them. one member of the comunity, Konny, created a way to represent that by calculating how much of cities income could come to the republic and how much would stay for local powers, if you are interested , this would allow two kinds of armies, a local garisson and a republic one under the control of the magistrate of war appointed by senate in times of need

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
So...all hail Boru as the new Shophet? Or is this still premature?
-
Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
Darn, the only day I go out this week (Granpa's 80th birthday) and we got a shophet already
I was gonna cast my vote for Mago
-
Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
I withdrew....I decided to run during a week that I'm not planning on welcoming another child into the world. :laugh4:
Thanks for your confidence though, friend.

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
I would've voted for Boru, considering Mago is kinda busy...
-
Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
well, Boru is now the Shophet, so yay! Now the first 8 turns shall begin.

Re: 1.0 Succession Game Discussion Thread
Sorry I missed the meeting. Saturday is the day that me and my parents go out anyway so I kinda thought I would miss it anyway. So How was it?
