Re: OOC Thread and Chatroom 2
EF must be refering to this rule :
Quote:
2.3 – Retinue: At any time, a Senator may give any retinue item/member they possess to another Senator or remove it from their avatar without giving it to anyone else. If a retinue item/member cannot be transferred or removed due to game coding or distance between avatars, console commands may be used to allow the transfer or removal. If, at any time, a Senator possess a retinue 'title' to a province they do not own, that Senator will be required to immediately transfer that retinue 'title' to the Senator who controls that province. If the Senator who controls the province already has a full retinue, he may either transfer or remove one of his own retinue to make room for the 'title' or have the 'title' deleted.
-
Re: OOC Thread and Chatroom 2
I will transfer retinue. Just send me a PM and I'll do it when I do my moves.

I'll try but it might be dicey. I basically have two choices. Either sally now or wait for the assault. If I sally, it will only be with what the Order can scrape together in one turn. If I wait, there is a chance the AI won't assault. But if they do, then we'll be stuck in the city. I rather sally and get out in the field where we can charge.
I'll do what I can with Bart to keep him alive. Mak has HP coming out of his ears so I'll make him do the tough stuff. The army is big but I think 4 RBG's and some assorted units can beat it. The Templar army is really low quality. They don't even have missile troops. Mainly a lot of pilgrims, peasants, and spearmen. Some mounted sergeants and a general round it out.
The plan is to hit the general and knock him out early. Then pepper the spears with arrows while charging the pilgrims and peasants. Try to get a chain rout going.
If I win, I'll shove the spy into Tortosa and try to take it quick in order to knock the Templars out as a faction.

Getting off of Nicosia for the first time was a very good year. I actually had doubts as to if that would happen. 7 avatars standing around on an island for half the game staring at each other didn't sound very fun.

Unfortunately, Aleksios had a kind heart, otherwise you'd be very well acquainted with the Cypriot wines.
But I do feel for you a bit PK, as if you lose Mak then it would be a rotten way to lose him. But then again, IC, Ioannis would love to see the back of him so he can't really sympathise.
I had wondered when the Order would attack. Especially seeing that I got diplomats to insult them.

I suspect it was done more for OOC considerations. As for Aleksios, it seems he has more of a pragmatic heart, than a kind heart.

Nope. Easiest one yet. The Jedi triumphed against the evil Sith Templars. :clown:
Despite being outnumbered 800 to 1900, I lost 48 and killed/captured well over 1800. That isn't bragging. That is just a testament to the power of 4 Jedi RBG's.
Unfortunately, Mak had to go and be stupid and release all of the prisoners. (Almost 900...) I will have to have a talk with the lad. :clown:
The Turks attacked Ituralde so we need for him to fight that battle before the new turn starts. I sent him the new save.

Re: OOC Thread and Chatroom 2
Hmmm, that was pretty much the entire Templar armed forces wasn't it?
Looks like we'll have our first destroyed faction soon. I wonder if Stainless Steel has any surprises lurking for us if that happens.

And yeah, that was the entire Templar army minus a few family members. But, Mak released a bunch of them and they ran to Tortosa. So, it will be a tough nut to crack until I can get more stuff there.

Yeah, I would have PM'd you right away.
But, everyone made it. It was easier than I thought it was going to be. I'll post a battle report later. But I basically just flooded the field with cavalry and horse archers. Hired every merc that could reach. (Ah the joys of being Megas...) Bart is now snug in Antioch so he can get better. :2thumbsup:

Re: OOC Thread and Chatroom 2
For the sake of historical accuracy, I feel the need to point out that few Byzantines would have thought a little whipping of an opponent and a collision in a race (the collision had nothing to do with the cheating, btw) were worthy of outrage. Chariot racing was a vicious sport and racers often died in collisions, while bribery and cheating were both pretty common as well. If you want to protest the Hippodrome result for political reasons, or because your character has a chivarlous stick up his butt, that makes plenty of sense, but try to remember that the events that occurred in that race probably wouldn't have struck most Byzantines as unusual.
In fact, I built a cheating system into the chariot racing rules from the very beginning, before any player even thought of trying to interact with the races in an IC manner. It simply didn't occur in the first two races because the dice rolls went against it.

I'm not one to judge what the Emperor decides to do and not to do when it comes to just about anything.
Hell, if he says it's a sack race in women's clothing, then hey, strap the fake breasts on and get jumping.

Re: OOC Thread and Chatroom 2
I'm well aware, I'm just trying to weasel my way out of having to write another chariot race. People need to be aware that if another race is run and if the avatars themselves personally compete, that there is a chance of death. Collisions have decent odds of occurring and a bad collision effect roll can result in the death of the charioteer. I will not change this system just because actual avatars are racing. The odds of death are low, but they still exist. If avatars insist on racing, then that will be a chance they will have to take.

Now we are talking TC. Let the boy's have a little more riding on the outcome. Nothing like a little potential death at the Hippodrome to sort out the men from the boys.
Personally I don't think OK should go anywhere near another race. I favour dragging the two by the ear into the Magnaura, hear them air their differences and then passing judgement with a particularly bad attitude about it.
But hey, I'm just cranky after getting nailed in a Steering group meeting by a bunch of lawyers...so I could be subconsciously looking for an argument.

Entirely agree with what's been said. Great writing TC.
If it takes a fight to the death, on the racetrack or the battlefield, Niki'll do it. If he's got to go out, let him bring a new kind of politics in the Magnaura...

As always entertaining reading gentlemen.
I have been waiting for the save all evening, however a player has had the save for nearly FOUR hours now and therefore it is getting time for my bed.
I am slightly frustrated for I believe the next time I will be at the computer the turn will surely have passed. I may get up early tomorrow morning.
I give the benefit of the doubt to Knights of Palma who probably has just forgotten to post it or something. I have been racking my brains but I can think of little system better than the one we have in place.

He gained his third vassal here.
That would start his Antypatos timer. From the various links in the History thread, it seems this started on 1125. (You look at the timestamp of the post and compare it to timestamps of other posts, such as Megas reports, to figure out the year.)
He gained his fourth one here.
In 1132, Pavlos would have met his TIR for Patrikios. He had 4 vassals so he would have been promoted immediately.
Pavlos got his 5th vassal in 1135.
He'll meet his TIR for Duke in 1140. The Caesar might leave the House before then if the Emperor dies but Pavlos can just give land to Motep's avatar.

Yeah, the times we have lost avatars has been when there has only been one RBG on the field. You get two or more and there is little you can not accomplish.
-
Re: OOC Thread and Chatroom 2
Which brings in how I feel about the raw power of the bodyguard. No offense, but it kinda eats away at the game for me when I can take 4 cavalry and defeat an army 6 times that size easily. I like the challenge of battle, and it's starting to feel...missing. I don;t know about you guys but I could do for some slight rebalancing...

I like that there are no limits on RBG's in a stack. Because it requires inter-player cooperation. The AI was always going to be absurdly easy and we knew it.
Also, banding together RBG's helps to minimize the effects of a neglectful Megas. But an army is still needed. And that is for taking and holding large cities.
-
Re: OOC Thread and Chatroom 2
I'm not talking purely against the AI though, more or less about PvP. The imbalance in my opinion will show up so greatly that it will come down to who was unlucky enough to lose a single man from their RBG unit to random missile fire.
-
Re: OOC Thread and Chatroom 2
Well there will probably be a massive amount of RBG's on both sides in a PvP.
