Re: Orders and reports thread
I have given my men very specific orders to attempt to keep as many as possible free of the plague and still advance my plans to stop the Danish assault. In essence I have sent the town militia to hold Hamburg, left a minimal garrison at Arhus, and taken command of the militia you wisely ordered to hold outside the walls of Arhus last year.
Those men appear to have kept a clean camp and remain plague free. The men of the Arhus garrison are not, and so I have left them under the command of a captain and sent them ahead of me. I intend to attack the first army of Danes in all haste and then fall back to recover my forces while the second army is still advancing.
I have also lowered taxes to maintain order in the respective cities (One notch at Hamburg, two at Arhus); it makes little difference as tax revenues are so low anyway.

Of course feel free to countermand these orders as necessary.

Re: Orders and reports thread
The Chancellor
I see what you have done Lord Fritz. This is prudent and now agreed. The official position of the Reich is now held in the maps titled: "1352-1".
Duke Lothar, are you deliberately not including BHA Gerhard in this suggestion because of the fear of plague spreading at the battle? (OOC: Is that possible? Because it would seem better to use Gerhard in conjunction with the Kaiser's army due to proximity and leaving Otto on the bridge to defend Venice or attack the Greeks should they siege Bologna.)
I certainly agree that overwhelming force be brought to bear where ever possible to ensure a crushing victory and limiting our casualties.
-EDIT-
By the way fella's, the 24 hours has begun. If you want to instigate battles, inform me of anything or move things around (please PM me first) then Monday night is about the latest I will wait this time.

Re: Orders and reports thread
Chancellor Arnold,
There has been some confusion lately regarding the naming of the various Bavarian armies due to past events. I intended to refer to Count Erlach's army, not my own.
-
Re: Orders and reports thread
£$^£!!
Lothar,
Are you talking about the disease infested troops you command outside the eastern gate of Milan or Erlach's "clean" force with Hermann Steffen on the bridge west of Venice?
If you are talking about Erlach's then you are suggesting that he moves across the face of the Greek forces to his south and engages the French with the Kaiser's army as reinforcements.
This would pull him away from defending the bridge and the eastern flank of the front line. Would you and Karolinger pick up the diseased reinforcements from Innsbruck and replace him then?
In any case, if you don't want to initiate battle or oder any of your general's to do so, then please let me know how you would like the forces arranged for your southern command.
Arnold.

Re: Orders and reports thread
I don't have time to fight battles today, maybe sometime soon.

Re: Orders and reports thread
Chancellor Arnold,
I trust you to arrange the situation as you best see fit. You have a good strategic mind and I have faith in your plans. I was simply suggesting a method to provide a much larger force that could be brought to bear at Milan. If you think that such a force is not necessary, then please disregard my statements. (read: I haven't looked at the save, so I'll leave it up to you)

Re: Orders and reports thread
Chancellor,
These are my suggested moves for Outremer.
First, I would like Andreas to hold at the Iron Bridge and have Captain Bernhard (blue) join him with the reinforcements. I know you suggested a move NE to goad the Greeks, but in Andreas's current position he can cover Antioch at a good defensive chokepoint and still be able to assist Adana if needed. The greater Greek threat comes from the west at this point, and this assistance might prove critical. Also any men that can be spared from Acre should be moved north as well. I'd suggest sending the horse and foot seperately, so the knights can arrive earlier. Until the plague passes, please do not recruit any more men in Outremer.
Second, I (bright red) would like to leave Adana to the SW to build a watchtower. If it is built in the position indicated on the map, we will gain a view on Iconium and Cyprus, useful information to have for a small price. I would then proceed to the meeting of the two mountain passes from the Anatolian plateau and be met by the garrison of Adana (dark red). The unit of 40 Crusader Sergeants would stay behind to garrison the citadel (green).
The position I'd take would block both passes, blocking the Greeks (purple) from moving into the plains around Adana, and I would have a mountain at my back.
If these moves meet with your approval, I could make them myself if you wish. I await your word.
Matthias

Re: Orders and reports thread
The Chancellor
Viceroy. You're orders and strategy are clear, concise and I will immediately put them on the Imperial tasking sheets for actioning.
Well done. I truly believe Outremer will survive these grim times and flourish under your leadership.
The Chancellor.

Re: Orders and reports thread
Welf von Luxemburg:
My Lord Chancellor,
Your orders to proceed to the bridge west of Frankfurt are clear and I will obey them if you confirm them. However, I would ask you to reconsider.
There are three full strength French armies around Metz within striking distance of the bridge. My force is essentially a small body of militia plus one crossbow regiment. It could not deny the bridge to even one of those armies. Had I two more regiments of crossbows as I requested, I could perhaps hope to hold against one army but even then the odds would be long. As it is, I fear my army would be anhilated without doing much damage to any attackers.
Recently, our only salvation when fighting the French in Swabia has been their inactivity and confusion. Were they to march east towards Frankfurt and beyond, there is nothing before Magdeburg that could stop them. I fear that placing my force on the bridge to Frankfurt may well rouse the French to move east as they spy an easy target. For now, it is better to let sleeping dogs lie.
I request instead that my force march slightly north of its current position, to the nearby watchtower. That would put it within marching distance of Frankfurt, Staufen and Nuremburg next year. I could thus be on hand to help defend one of these settlements were it to be besieged.
My force will march as you direct, but it is my duty to report what the situation looks like on the ground.
Yours
Welf von Luxemburg

Re: Orders and reports thread
Lord Chancellor,
The 1st AHA will hold the road south of Vienna observing the enemies next move and wait for supplies. If the treasury permits I will send my two artillery pieces to Vienna to be reinforced with what can be recruited there.
When they are topped up I would like them and the remaining knights in the city to return to the 1st AHA. The town militia can remain on garrison duty for Vienna.
I am sure the Hungarians may have some action against this plan.

Re: Orders and reports thread
The Chancellor
Johann, you will be exposed to the plague with that request. Please reconfirm you understand this?
von Luxemburg, I understand your concerns and I will move you to the watch tower north of your present position. All units that are not diseased will be sent to support you.
Have you heard from your Duke at this time?
Duke Bresch, do you have any orders for me?
Lothar, do you or the Kaiser wish to attack or wait? My Kaiser, this question is also directed at you.
Prinz Dieter, any word on your potential assault on Rome?

Re: Orders and reports thread
Lord Chancellor,
I am aware of the predicament I am putting myself in but I need troops to fight the enemy. Austria has no clean centres so I will make do with can be recruited, it would nice to avoid the plague but I see no alternative to defeat the large enemy forces that are in the area with the depleted force I have under my control.

Re: Orders and reports thread
The Chancellor
My Lords there is still much to be done this season. I pray you can get word to me of your orders and that in some instances you can take the fight to the enemy.
One thing to note my lords is that I believe if we continue to produce infected troops we will prolong this plague further.
I believe the Viceroy has a point by halting recruitment if at all possible to see if that can break the plague in some settlements.
If anyone can confirm this we would be in a much better situation and have a viable option open to us.

Re: Orders and reports thread
The Legion der Krone should strike now, in conjuction with Fredericus Erlach's force.
OOC: I have finals so I can't fight it.

Re: Orders and reports thread
Mini Econ occupied Rome, getting around 1800 florins. It was only defended by one kataphract: 623 vs 61; 5:1 odds; we lost 12 - they lost all.

OOC: Yes, I noticed the count down start and the kataphracts just stand there. But Mini Econ was not buying it - he wanted to fire his bombard.

Re: Orders and reports thread
I guess we know who we can blame for that hole in the city square of Rome then.

Re: Orders and reports thread
Welf von Luxemburg
Chancellor,
Count Ruppel has shared with me his insights into the predicament of relieving Dijon. The SHA will obviously be essential in this effort and requires an Elector to command it. But as the formation is now infected with the plague, I do not believe the Duke should be required to expose himself by standing at its head.
I request that my previous orders be countermanded and that I move towards Staufen bridge. This move would allow me to assume command of the SHA next turn. If the Duke himself wishes to command the SHA, then my force might anyway be better placed near Staufen than near Frankfurt. To be candid, alone my force could not contest Frankfurt with a full strength French army anyway. However, near Staufen and the support of the SHA, it might be provide useful reinforcements and support for my Duke and the capital of my House.
Yours
Welf von Luxemburg

Very well von Luxemburg, please go ahead and make that move.
OOC: I've already moved you Econ so your going to have to use the console command or go back to 1352-3 or 2 which is not a good idea.

OOC: No need to use the console - that's not an option. The latest save just had me inched forward a little to the Watchtower. My army could get quite close to Staufen with their remaining movement points if they backtrack and head towards the Citadel.

Internet's a bit wonky, but taking the save to fight Stuperman's battle.
If you don't hear from me in 2 hours, assume that I didn't fight it.
