I don't mean to be rude Ignoramus but it's a bit hard to swollow your line of reasoning about keeping a crusade behind in the actual game so your second avatar can join when I have not even had one on the first place.
I know it sounds like sour grapes, but I hope you can see my point.
As for the allocation of land on a crusade...well, that could only be decided by diet edict or even an amendment as the current rules are very clear.
The Kaiser is the guy in charge no matter where "anyone" maybe hanging out in the world. If anything the POPE would be able to state a more compelling case that the Kaiser using your reasoning.

Re: Out of character thread III
I was facing the Papal escort, 60 merc Frankish Knights, and merc crossbowmen (not spears).
The Frankish Knights are what did it for me. If they were any unit aside from cavalry I would have fought but no infantry vs. 100 cavalry is not my kind of fight.

Re: Out of character thread III
Okay, battle is done and won.
Thorn is now ours.
Here's the save.

Re: Out of character thread III
Sorry, been insanely busy for the last week or so (and won't have much time until the end of the month).
Working on a game development project at college. Have to make a game (or at least one level from one) during this month, and so far, we've run into an awful lot of problems, so since I ended up lead programmer on the team, I've had enough to do. ;)
Still here though...

Re: Out of character thread III
Oh, forgot to mention this earlier. This should make the Austrians happy.
Back when I ran away like a coward strategically withdrew, one of the start-of-turn announcements said that Leopold finally got a son.
So AussieGiant, the worst-case scenario is that you will get an avatar in 32 turns. :laugh4:
Gerhard had one too.

Re: Out of character thread III
Hmm.. maybe you guys with avatars should give each other your IM or an email account that you check often so that even in the case when you are too busy to check the forum, once a battle is required of you, the chancellor can IM or email you guys?
-
Re: Out of character thread III
I'm a father, I'm finally a father!! Signups for the position will be held at your local avatar store. :2thumbsup:

You've actually been a father for a long time. You have a daughter who is 8, so Austria could get another general in 15-16 turns. There's also a chance at an adoption since Zagreb just fell, Thorn is about to fall, and Venice won't be too far behind them.
In general, I think avatars will remain somewhat rare for the next Chancellorship (staring 1160). Several will start to pop in the one after that (starting 1180). I expect that once we hit the 1200 Chancellorship, it should be rare for people to be without an avatar.

Re: Out of character thread III
Sorry for not being around these past few days. I had a trip for school and was out for quite a while, but now I'm back.
Also, I can't get on the game now so can anyone tell me when the next coming of age is due for the House of Swabia since I hope I can get an avatar and join the crusade should it still be occurring. Even better is if I come to age in the Levant next to either my avatar's father or its adopter

There was a battle outside of Thorn, we won but the survivors fled to the Castle and it had to be sieged.
You might also be thinking of Magdeburg?
Edit: Don't forget that avatars could spawn with the Crusaders if any them has adoptees or sons coming of age. So if you miss the boat now, there'll most likely be a chance to catch up. Also, at some point the Crusade might need reinforcement so your avatar could end up on a boat to the holy land with zweihanders or something. It's not like we're falling off the ends of the earth here or never be seen from again? Right? Right!?
Ituralde, your phallo-centric view of children, while in character for the age, is horribly chauvinistic. I can only imagine the Daddy issues Meckil will have. :laugh4:
2nd Edit: Slaps forehead. Apologies StoneCold, now I know what you were getting at.

Ack, thanks, I missed that save. I'm used to people replying by PM. Will finish out the turn now.

Re: Out of character thread III
econ: I tested add_money for other factions today in a save and it works with the comma in game. So you won't need to go via scripting

Re: Out of character thread III
The Library is completely updated except for the following which will be done tomorrow:
Royal Family Information: Everything except the family tree

Re: Out of character thread III
Thanks for the effort once again TinCow.
And Overknight hit it right on the spot with his statement. Leopold, while happy about his daugther, is even happier about a son. :clown:

Re: Out of character thread III
Interesting things this term:
-An AI faction tried to bribe Otto but failed (He got "Loyal" and "Upright")
-Quite a few of our generals became dread knights, including Maximilian
-
Re: Out of character thread III
Another avatar for Bavaria. Weird. An adoptee though. I see the "wretched wife" trait is working as intended. Perhaps Otto was scarred someplace besides his face, too many years in the saddle maybe.
Austria needs some avatars ASAP. Perhaps we could allow one or two captain battles, with Leopold nearby, to achieve a MoH? Anyone who knows more about adoptions and such, please speak up, and let me know if that's actually how it works. I know reinforcements are on the way with Leopold's kids, but it would be nice for Austria not to be a one man band, in the field at least.
Edit: Otto's uncapped loyalty would be around a 14 or 15 at this point. Scary considering his past machinations. Loyalty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.
-
Re: Out of character thread III
Err I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean with your loyalty being an uncapped 14/15?
-
Re: Out of character thread III
Adding up all the modifiers for loyalty and including Otto's starting loyalty of 5, would lead to a number greater than 10, but the game caps the ratings at 10. You can add all the positive loyalty traits in the world, but the max number would still be 10.
-
Re: Out of character thread III
Not really, since Otto is the duke, he should be loyal to the King, which he is. At least that how I see what loyalty means in the game.

Re: Out of character thread III
Just checked the library and it seems that Franconia i think is gonna grow really fast now since one of their guys seem to have like 4 sons.

I have no idea how that happened. I released all the prisoners I captured. From looking at the stats, I somehow lost "Noble in Rule." I think von Kastilien would be nearing 6 Dread if Dutch_guy had executed and exterminated. I don't know why he went the other way, it would have been better for his stats if he had continued being ruthless.
-
Re: Out of character thread III
Thats an anti trait issue with losing all of StrategyChivalry. Happens when you exterminate or sack a settlement usually.
Also, release/execute ONLY ever affects global rep and traits IF you have captures more than 80 troops. So below that, you can freely execute without suffering any loss to anything at all.

Re: Out of character thread III
Regarding Charter Amendment 5.2 (the limit on edict proposals), it was decided that the Kaiser would be exempt from this, correct? I remember there being discussion of it earlier but the actual amendment says nothing.
In any case, I'm interpreting it that way, so I guess it means nothing.
-
Re: Out of character thread III
Reading from the most likely triggers for StrategyDread:
- Training a spy or assassin while governing the settlement
- Having vh taxes with a treasury of 50k+ and being in the region for more than 3 turns (unlikely)
- Sacking/Exterminating (You say you didn't do)
