Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
The publishing deal will benefit both parties. They agreed on a similar deal some time ago, but this time I think they really made a serious contract about the publishing of M&B.
Small companies make the best quality games. M&B is the best RPG out there, in my case at least.

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
I like this! I really like this! Well, I'm afraid I'm over my quota and won't be able to download this for at least a few weeks or so, but I must say that I find this to be a surprisingly well developing project. Still, it's really rough around the edges. Poor frame rate, sporadic sound... If it were not so frikin fun I would not have gone past the tutorial.

Invest in the training skill. Also in surgery, which (by definition) increases the chance that they will be knocked unconscious instead of killed. :dizzy:
I put the no0bs at the top of the list (front ranks) and the veterans down below. This way the new recruits have a higher chance of having battlefield training and if they are killed you can replace them easily.
In the case of TLD, at the beginning of every battle hit I and then tab to order the infantry to stay in formation. If you start atop a hill watching a river and you have decent archers order to hold ground.

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
I've been playing this game day and night and have got a level 27 charecter within 3 days. I've joined a kingdom, command a band of 57 well armed soldiers and two heros, but one thing I've been unable to do and that is start a war. My ally kingdom is not at war with anyone, and I've been trying to provoke war by raiding and robbing, but no avail :(
Also, I've been unable to besige any castle\city as yet.
Any ideas what I should do?

(I know this ain't a help thread but, until I signup on the tale worlds forum........thanks).
i haven't played the game in a long time, but can you swear fealty to a different kingdom?
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)

Siege bug is known and confirmed.
Provoking war is, AFAIK, a feature yet to be implemented. But I believe you can do it in certain mods, though don't quote me on that.
.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
you can just attack armies from the other factions which lowers their reltaions ot you personally but not your entire Kingdom, so you can fight a private war.

Ok, no worries. I've got the .808 version still (somewhere on my hard drive).
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)

TLD will not be ported as it is; the new version of it will be for M&B 1.0 AFAIK

-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Correct, though a person or two on the forums are trying to port it, without much success.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
OK, I'm a lvl 37 charecter now, with 3 villages and two castles. I ride with 60 armoured knights and 4 heros, and myself own a hevay charger and reinforced plate. I've been mowing through enemies with no toruble at all. but nowhere in the game have I found the 'black armour' or the 'dark knights' I've heard so much about..........read about a set of Samurai Armour, but have still not been able to obtain it. Any suggestions?
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
I believe the fabled black nights were nerfed and removed for some reason, but the samurai set is there some where I only got the sword and dont remember how also there is a flint lock pistol in the depths of the game you just have to return the coding to its rightful place
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
The locations of the samurai set are somewhere in this thread, IIRC Sasaki posted them.
I do get a bit bored of it sometimes. Anyone tried the Hundred Year War Mod?
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
.
I did. It's basically the same gameplay with a different (ugly :shame:) map and two factions. There are enhancements such as ravaging parties etc.
I couldn't dive into it deeply because the 0.9x version of the game lags unbearably on my machine. It's almost frame by frame. OTOH 0.8x (TLD) runs smoothly and perfectly. :inquisitive:
.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Yeh, I've been played 100YW, its not bad. Rather interesting to be honest, enjoying killing Frenchies... :laugh4:
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
The game lags?? :inquisitive: My nearly medievial machine runs .901 pretty smoothly.....
The Samurai Armour locations I know, Jekala, Rivacheg and Tihr, but is that what everyone is calling 'Black Armour'?
And could someone please give a little detail about what part of the coding should I change to what to get Dark Knights back?
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
.
P4 3 HT with 512M RAM must be the dark ages if your mediaeval machine runs it smoothly.
The weird thing is TLD runs like a charm. It's .9x vanilla and .9x HYW that lag. I've just played the .8x vanilla tutorial and there were no lags there either (while the vanilla .9x tutorial had lagged as badly as the full game) so there's a discrepancy between my configuration and the .9x engine it seems.
.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
I have a computer worse than all of you and .9 actually is more smooth than
.8
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
I've purchased the key last week. I haven't been able to play the game much but I'm loving it and that'll probably grow when I get better and better at it.
My level 8 character (now 9) is still struggeling with his ranged weapon (javelins) but I can tell you that nothing is more satisfying than making someone into a walking pincushion with those large sticks sticking out of him.

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Is it just me or do other people get a Paradox Interactive start-up video?! I think I might have to re-download and install, I keep getting script errors, etc.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
From what I've seen it's pretty buggy, I'm waiting for a fix before I D/L.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Everyone gets that Paradox video, the way they've put it is quite messy, apart from that and a few bugs here and there, the game's very nice. I specially like how the heros can now like/dislike each other, haven't got that far but maybe they can even quit the party if the don't like you.
There is a bug report on the official forums. Very helpful.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
I'm a bit concerned that Armagan has stated that this version conatains almost everything that will be in the release version. I don't know about you but if I picked this game up off the shelf having never seen it before I would think it's a bit lightweight for a release version game, I think it needs more content.
For instance I would like to see you being able to actually manage your villages and castles instead of being able to build a half dozen buildings, maybe owning a territory instead of a village and being able to send out patrols, concentrate on certain trades and maybe found your own villages. I think the game needs quite a lot more work to bring it up to the standard you would expect to see from a Total War or Civ or any other released version game.

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Well I was hoping for more content too, there's a lot of unexploited territory and scope in the game. But it's their first game, maybe they add an expansion or something in near future.
They've got a good formula, they've made an excellent start. I'm sure this won't end with version 1, this game is going to go far.

Quite probably true, but if they want you pay a similar amount to any other game on the market you expect a similar amount and quality of content, and I've never been a fan of using expansions to add content that should have been in in the beginning.

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
I'm sure they said a few releases back that the focus of Mount & Blade was now more about the engine than the main game - ie the mods will make up for the original game's short-comings. That said, mods can only do so much, and there is a lot more we'd all like to see. However, the game has been in development for a very long time so they have to draw the line at some stage before the graphics etc fall even further behind other commercial games. As to the .950 release, I too am waiting for the next patch as there are far too many problems reported with this version, especially for those of us stuck with using DirectX 7 options.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
I'd said I found the new attitudes of the heros a plus point, well now, just after playing for a few more hours, I find them downright infurating, four of them abandoned my party one after the other due to their internal conflicts, making away with all the costly attire I had provided them. I just had to quit the game in disgust.
Anyone else figured how to recruit them all and keep them all happy at the same time?
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
:laugh4:
I only recruited a few and they don't complain a lot. Reminds me of Jagged Alliance 2 this feature. ~D
The only two bugs I encountered are that sometimes there is no sound at all, although that could be due to me changing sound drivers, but I found a way to circumvent it(play the test sound in the driver program, it always works after that :dizzy2: ) and then I tried to train villagers and got some script error which effectively ruined my savegame because it would always appear after reloading. I haven't accepted that quest since and it works fine so far, I use DX9 of course. :sweatdrop:
I think the new content is pretty good anyway, didn't expect that much and whether you'd like more or not I think you can have a lot of fun with the game as it is already.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
such an awesome game :dizzy2:
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
OK, all my heros have left me apart from two people who seem to fancy each other, a saleswoman and a captain of the guard. My party of fifty seems surprisingly inadiquate without their party bonuses. And what's worse is, I haven't been able to find the heros who've left me again, it's almost as if they've left the game permanently.
On the up side, I completed a few quests for some pretty ladies, and gained their support (keeping my fingers crossed to see if the game has a marriage option in it ~D ) and I've managed to regain a lot of lost money by trading, the system is a lot better this time, you actually know what'll be cheap in a place for certain, and that you can sell it at another place at a very high price.

And yeah, the funky texture glitches are gone.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Characters look funky, though. I suspect they hit the "random" button a few too many times. Far too many large heads, receding chins, and tiny eyes almost touching each other. Can't say I like the new facial hair, either. Still! All in all, not a bad update.

Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Does anybody else have insane, unplayable slowdowns and text that becomes blotchy and unreadable if you play for 5 straight hours? It usually happens after 5 hours and a large battle, but then transfers to the campaign map and smaller battes.
I saved and re-loaded and it was back to normal.

Yeah I used to get that a lot on my POS laptop. It barely met system requirements and I think that may be the problem. Also it was with .808. But it was sometimes fun to look at. Anyways, if you post some your system specs and post your main issues I can help you out more indepth. I've had every single technical issue known to man when I started playing this game and know most ways to fix it.
Also 5 hours straight lets see...... Does your rig over heat?

I think that might be it. ctrl+alt+del shows a little over 60% cpu usage when I exit and there should only be around 12.
Maybe my video card is crapping out.

Well does that mean we should delete the Console TW games ( I'm making a really bad point considering the name of the website...) I think a sticky for this one(+168 modded version) game will help out a lot of people when there is new updated information. It's not like creating a whole subsection on it. And It looks to be more active than most stickied thread right now. And starting post was back in.... '05. 3 years is quite a long time for a single game.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
You will have to talk to Tosa about the Console forum. As for this thread, it gets enough active discussion to keep it on the front page without the need of a sticky.
-
Re: Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat (Mount and Blade)
Hmm, the horse death animations are a bit weird but I don't remember seeing a horse fly like that. Too bad that King Ragnar seems a bit bugged in my current game as a Nord, first he was nowhere to be found, noone knew where he was, then he got released from captivity and still noone knew where he was until he suddenly showed up as a one-man party and I failed to follow him in a campaign because he now moves around like a lightning bolt. :dizzy2:
Playing Nords is fun though, and their new tier 6 Huscarls are hard to get but look quite good and seem to be very good fighters. :2thumbsup:
